They should already have some general info out. Check http://www.llu.edu/central/ssweb/finaid/index.page. Right now anyone who needs federal help (and I don't see how you wouldn't, short of the HPSP or huge inheritance) should be working on getting their FAFSA's completed.

Most people (including me) won't have everything needed to file our 2010 tax return until the end of the month, so I'm delaying my completion of the FAFSA until about February when my tax return has been filed. I suppose many people are in the same position of waiting to complete the FAFSA until at least February.

I got an invite today as well!

GPA > 3.5
MCAT < 30
Ca resident
Christian but not SDA

I think i was complete late September or early October.

Fellow SDNers. I have been interviewing quite a bit and have a couple of acceptances. So unfortunatly I am running low on funds. However, I would love to interview here. But before I make the financial commitment can some of those who have already interviewed tell me something special/unique about your interview experience? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I feel exactly as you do. I just got an invite as well and would like to go but getting from Oklahoma to Cali is not what I would call cheap. If only teleportation would be invented already!!

I've always felt that if I could choose a superpower, that would be it. Hands down.

Can I find a match list for LLU somewhere? I did a search and someone asked before but noone gave an answer. The main reason why I ask is because people have been giving me advice that the other school (Rush) will give me a better chance of getting into a good residency. Granted most of the people I have asked are doctors and esidents IN Chicago.

I think someone said earlier or on one of the other Loma Linda threads I was reading that they don't post their match lists... But my dad gets this magazine from them that lists the names of the graduates and where they're going for residency.. So I'll just give you some of the places that showed up: Loma Linda (of course), UCLA, Mayo, Duke, UC Davis, University of New Mexico, Baylor College of Medicine, UC San Diego, Brown University, University of Hawaii, etc.. I think it probably comes down to how you do on your boards too..

I don't have a list, but I personally know applicants from LLU that have gone into things like derm, plastics, and rad onc. It may mostly produce primary care physicians, but it certainly won't exclude you from competitive specialties if your scores are good.

I'm hoping to get mine done ASAP to get it over with and secure funds...

I'm accepted, blessed, and thankful!
greetings class of 2015 and i like the facebook group idea too! 😀

[People i would definately say that this is a good university for studies since its a calm and peaceful environment. Even the standards are good.
However let me be very very honest,They are really biased on their selection. Its all whom u know out there. I really hate this university personally because 3 years ago i had applied to this university. agreed my MCAT scores were not that good. However i had many degrees behind my back, i had worked with critically ill ICU patients, had done so much research, was a Adventist Myself, but they did not consider any of that, nothing. ok reapplied 2nd time still nothing. i was a alumini of this university, still they did not consider that.
My scores were very similar to my friends scores who applied recently and i heard he got called for an interview.
Is this bias or what?
anyhow i am glad i am not at Loma Linda. i am already a medical student now else where.
i would never want to join such a disgusting university with biased people.

anyone know if acceptance calls are going out this friday? i believe it is third friday of the month

Hard to call the university bias from this anecdote. lol.. Umm heres another anecdote, I got an interview and knew absolutely noone at LL. So they coudlnt have been bias towards me. There is more they look at then just MCAT scores.

Just received my invite yesterday! 🙂 I called today but apparently the person who coordinates the interviews is gone today and will be back tomorrow!

I'm super excited about this school and hope I do well on the interview!

Anyone that is accepted already have any advise on the interview? What questions to go over, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I think the consensus on LLU interviews is just relax and be yourself. They aren't looking for you to have the right answers, they just want to make sure you're a good fit for the school. Just be prepared to talk about anything you put on your application/secondary.

If that was the case i would have been in the program by now. i would not disclose the degrees i have, but if only u knew u would say what the heck, u should have been in the program
i still consider the admission commitee absolutely biased, specially if u go to dental school u would see all koreans, why they must have given some money to their university.
i think they are very very biased. they just didnt want to cnsider anything else what i had rather than strictly MCAT scores. i am very glad i am not there, i am doing so well in medical school now. with good grades.

"the degrees i have", LOL:laugh:.. It doesnt matter how many degrees you have. What does matter is how well you did in your degrees and since its impossible to determine the relative difficulties of the schools, we have standardized test. The admissions process is a crap shoot, some ppl get in with lower stats and some dont even get interviews with superior stats.

Look at Carolink15, she got in with a pretty low MCAT (26 or something after three attempts). Maybe one of the reason you didnt get in is because you make outlandish statements with no supporting evidence

Same here. Not only an interview. An acceptance as well. And I know absolutely NO ONE at LLU

Maybe some of this bitterness was reflected in your PS/interview. They don't just look at degrees/MCAT/GPA you know. If they did, I'm pretty sure we'd have a lot of psychos in the field of medicine

but you must still care about the school to take the time out to reply at least twice in the thread. Some leftover resentment maybe? If you are truly SDA, maybe taking a (second?) look at last week's sabbath school lesson may do you some good. Just some friendly advice.

Does anyone have an update on the most recent interview dates available for this school? I'm figuring that if the rest of us don't receive an invitation to interview by mid-February, all the dates will be filled up and the application cycle will informally be over. Is this about right?

Please, LLU, send some love! Congrats to all those accepted so far!

When I called to schedule my interview about a week ago now, the lady I talked with said that I could go with Jan. 27 (which I took) or that I could take the next open time which was sometime in early March. I have no idea if these are the only spots left open but I figure she would have said something about interview times between Jan and March if there were any.

I called last Friday for interview dates and I was given 2/4 and 2/7 and I was talking to someone who was given a date in March. I'm not sure if being SDA matters as to the dates available, I assume those who have already interviewed can have a better say at whether the interview days are grouped with all SDA one day and non-SDA the other.

Thanks for the update, mrcharlie and toasterpickins! Good luck at your interviews!

Alot of the SDA interviews were done really early; but that just might be students who attended SDA undergraduate institutions in which loma linda has a relationship. I heard that the Adcom actually sent people to these colleges to conduct interviews as opposed to the students going to Loma Linda.

I would assume if you are SDA, but at a non-SDA college, you are in the same boat as everyone else.

They do send someone to the SDA undergrads to interview us but we hear back in the same bunches as everyone else. Has anyone heard recently?

I thought they would have done the second round by now after looking at the last few year's threads. I thought it was 3rd Friday's of the month too. I called and they said they hadn't accepted anyone in January yet, but found out that the admissions committee did meet last Thursday. So maybe this Friday instead. This wait is torture!

I know it has been what 3ish months since I interviewed.

I know a friend that is interviewing there on February 4. Wow, I'm surprised they have interview dates in March. Does anyone know what their class size is? I think you get a letter if you don't get accepted around April or at least that's what I've heard. I know that you can retake your MCAT around April time and place your application on hold or something, and they can still accept you.

Great, and I have my second interview on thursday. It would be a lot easier going into this interview knowing my status at loma linda; accepted or rejected.

At least I should definitely know by my third and final interview rolls around in March (before you say "only three! ninja please!" I only applied to 6 schools... stupid I know, but I don't have the money)

Yes actually 🙂 It's my first acceptance. Hopefully you all who are still waiting get the call today too! The wait was terrible.

Congrats!! it would be mine too.. what time did you get called? just curious

The dean of admissions left me a message while I was at work today. He just said to call him back, which I've been trying all afternoon... this must mean acceptance, right? right?! Oh man, this is killing me 😕

Congrats DocBell and je6ch!! 🙂 And edharian, I've only heard of them calling to accept people so I'll say congrats to you too! 👍

All announcements about acceptances are from now on required to include SDA status and interview date.

I do have a voicemail though..... let me check that....

Edit: Apparently my neighbor wanted to borrow syrup this morning cause he ran out.... almost as good as an acceptance call.

Thanks Muffler8911, that is what it was 🙂 As a reapplicant, I have been waiting for this news for a long time... Congrats to everyone else as well! Oh and I interviewed early December.

Did he call you back or did you call them?

I got a voice mail saying to call the dean back as well. When I called him back it was an acceptance! So I would guess yours is too, congrats!

Look, I got an interview, just attended, I am from florida, and there is not one person i know IN CALIFORNIA much less at LLU. they were exceedingly kind to me.

I dont know your situation, but it sounds like you expected quantity not quality of education (degrees) to matter in the admissions process, and completeley forgot that they are trying to dig out a personality from your application before they invite you/accept you.

im happy you got in somewhere to med school (even though your label says premed) but dont judge the school because it didnt work out. thats like hating a girl because she turned you down, its just childish.

also, if your in somewhere else, then just let it go man. live your life, stop worrying about what happened before.

either way I was BLOWN AWAY at my interview. for real. the school was FANTASTIC.

hope i get an acceptance next month.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted so far and GL to those still waiting to hear back!!!! 🙂
