I'm sorry to hear that 🙁

If you don't mind me asking, was this pre- or post-interview? If post-interview, when did you interview?

Just got the email for an interview! I gave up following this thread a while ago since I hadn't heard anything, but does anyone know if they're still actually enrolling? Or will I just be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist?

Just got an interview invite today as well! 😀

Did you already schedule one online?

Flights are super expensive though but I think that its a great school so I think I will schedule by tomorrow.

Anyone know at what time the day typically ends?

I know this doesn't fully answer your question, but my interview scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday has an itinerary that ends at 1:00 p.m.

Good luck everyone? Still no one going to be there this Tuesday? Haha...

interview days end at 1 if you have a morning interview. If you have a later interview you will start with the tour, lunch, financial meeting, then end with the interview.

good luck!

Completed in June. I just got an interview on 2/14. Interviewed at a few other schools that I'm waiting to hear from. I got accepted to two other schools, but I'm still going to the interview. I go to Washington University in St. Louis, so there is absolutely no cost (besides gas and dry cleaning for suit) for me to go.

Plus, St. Louis is a great city and I wouldn't mind staying here for another four years at least.

Does anybody know what the interviews are like? Is it one on one, many mini interviews (u. cincinnati style), or what?

Also, does anybody know how many spots filled up already? Like somebody said above, are we just interviewing for a wait list spot. I'll still go, even for a wait-list spot.

Anyhow, for those wondering, my numbers are 3.94, 34(11P, 9V, 14 B)

Invite. Complete in June. Never sent in any letters. I don't think I'll go.

Would like a ticket for a ride on recent interview train. 😀

It's one one-on-one interview. The interviews are not too long, like maybe 40 minutes in length IIRC. My interview was very relaxed and I suspect most are like that, but it it could vary based on the interviewer.

Hey just want to tell everyone there is still hope for the people who are currently on the wait-list. I applied early September, interviewed on November 22nd, and received an email mid December notifying me I was wait-listed. I was incredibly distraught because this was my first choice for medical school; however, yesterday received another email informing me my status changed and I was officially accepted into SLUSOM. So, stay optimistic everyone! 🙂

Hey I'm pretty late to this thread so hopefully you have not had your interview yet, but yes I interviewed with Duane Moore. He was extremely laid back and it was one of the best interviews I have had thus far. The style of the interview was conversational and his questions were very basic. I have had some other friends who interviewed with him and some common questions that it appears he asks everyone are, "In an OR where you have surgeons, nurses, techs, the patients, etc who is the most important person in the room?" Also, "why do you want to live in St. Louis of all places?" Hope this helps.

Wow. I'm actually surprised I haven't been rejected yet. My update letter went through so I'm guessing my file is "up to bat" soon. Good luck to everyone on the waiting list!👍

Was this a post-interview or pre-interview update letter?

Does anyone know if they accept interest or update letters post-interview but pre-receiving a decision?

I interviewed around mid-December and I still haven't heard from them yet...I am nervous and anxiously waiting to hear from them because I really love the school :xf:🙂

Good luck all!!

Not to worry man, your in better shoes than I am with this program. This was a Pre-Interview letter that was received. I thought they rejected me silently but I guess they make decisions on applications much differently instead of the "wave-like action" I've seen on other threads. Who knows what will happen but I'm sure your good enough to get in. 👍 Best of luck to you.

Have those of you who have been accepted heard anything from SLU besides the email about your deposit? I'm just wondering if they've sent info about financial aid or anything like that. Thanks!

No, nothing yet. And I was accepted back in October. I guess they'll wait for the interviews to finish up before taking care of us...not sure.

Ya, that's what I figured, but I was starting to get paranoid bc I get random emails here and there from a couple other schools and for them it's been months of silence since my tuition deposit. Thanks!!

Interview invite today!!!!!! I'm scheduling ASAP so I think I may have to just eat the added cost and hop a flight in 5 days and spend my Valentine's Day falling in love with SLU!!!!!! 😍 It's worth the short notice if it gives me a better chance of being accepted, or even just notified of anything sooner. I am so THRILLED about this interview! SLU is definitely one of my top choices and plus, my dad went to medical school there 🙂

Anybody know of any MS1 students who might be willing to offer a couch or something to interviewees?

Scratch that! 14th was taken so I'll be interviewing on the 22nd (My birthday!) instead and I see now that the student hosting is available.

Any other 22nd interviewees?

The secondary website has a link to a document with information regarding student hosting (that's what I did). Congratulations, and good luck!

email me @ [email protected] if you're having a hard time getting a host. I know two md/phd students who can help.

Thanks and will do!!! I'm going to call them now, but since the 22nd is less than two weeks away, there's a slim chance they won't be able to help.

Also, sorry to be a SLU thread pest, but can anybody shed light on what it was like for you interviewing with Dr. Willmore? :xf: I've got him, apparently. Thanks.

If it helps ease your concern (in case you didn't call them today), I scheduled my host stay well within two weeks--in fact, I think it was about a week and a half, and they set me up the next day. Not to mention my hosts were great, haha.

Usually they're accommodating. Most of the med students love to host. Also, Dr. Willmore is great. Everyone I've spoken with who interviewed with him had awesome interviews. He's the head of admissions and is very nice.

I had Dr. Wilmore and he was very chill, my interview was very short-he mainly asked details about my ECs. Good luck!

Dr. Wilmore mainly asked me details about my ECs.

He's also big about hockey so if that's your interest feel free to use that. He has a lot of hockey memorabilia in his office.

received an email today. waitlisted 🙁 fingers crossed :xf:
interviewed Jan 3rd.

for all of you on the waitlist... i was stuck on that thing for literally months. if you really want to go to SLU send an email to the admissions office letting them know. also, if you have anything new to tell them make sure to update your file via email.

when i was on the waitlist i sent them 5 updates which were

  1. recommendation letter from two physicians i started shadowing after my app was complete
  2. details on research i had started after my app was complete
  3. two letters stating that i was highly interested in SLU for various reasons, and if i were accepted i would definitely attend.
honestly, i think this is what made the difference in my acceptance.

good luck everyone and feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Does SLU have streaming lectures? Is attending luctures required? This is pretty important to me, as I like the idea of dividing my time in the first two years in a flexible way.

After anatomy ended (which has mandatory lab attendance/quizzes) i never came to class unless it was a small group discusison. yea, i am home-schooling medical school.

they will upload archives of all the lectures so you can listen to them at home (at 2x the speed)

My tour guide a couple weeks ago said that they changed the system a bit. MS1's don't get streaming lectures anymore because they want them to attend class and bond with classmates and stay on top of their work. Any student beyond first year still has streaming lectures.

The first semester we used something called "iSpring" which was not as good as what the second years used. But it still recorded the lectures so I could stay home and watch them.

We now use Wimba (in the first year) because iSpring had a few issues. Wimba is the screen capture software used by the second year students.

I am in first year, and literally right now I am skipping class and listening to the lectures at home.

In both cases the class video is not streaming live, but is available immediately after class is over. So if class ends at 12, you will have the lectures at home by 12:15 latest. And most ppl will re-listen to lectures at home anyway, regardless if they went to class or not.

Withdrew today... hope my spot goes to one of you guys. Good luck all!

Does anyone know if it matters to choose the earliest interview date possible or that the later ones would be fine also?:idea:

I'm sure I speak for many applicants here when I say thank you 🙂) Good luck to you.🙂

Has anyone interviewed with Dr. Perman?

Also does anyone know the average Step 1 score for St Louis? There 2010 match list was super impressive. 😎

I'm pretty sure I didn't take the spot you held b/c I was never waitlisted but I got accepted this morning. Yeah!

For those of you that are getting acceptances when did you guys interview? I interviewed in the middle of January so I was wondering how long it would take before acceptances come out.
