I'm kind of confused, because this seems contradictory to what Margie told me yesterday. From what she said, it sounded like they haven't even made final decisions yet on all 24 spots. 😕 Maybe they sent the rest of the acceptances between when I called and today? But no one got a letter or heard of anyone getting anything so...yeah, idk...

If it's true then that kind of blows and I wish they would have just told us. But 4 people giving up their spots help

UCR grad= MS1 no reason to lie. Margie isn't allowed to disclose information until later, you probably rationalized what she said to fit what you wanted, we all do it and so do a # of scientists x). Look at the bright side, if the supply of accepted medical students were not controlled well enough you'd be left with 100-300k of non dischargeable debt  and no doctor job prospects, because MD is useless without the residency and I'm not sure that they've been increasing the # of residency spots, but there have been proposed bills.

I already knew that ucrgrad is an ms1, which is why I didn't outright reject what he said or claim that he's trolling. What I'm saying is that his information contradicts with what Margie told me at the time, implying that I'm taking what he said to have some truth behind it. Also, I didn't rationalize what she said to fit what I wanted to hear-

She did say, however, that they are still deciding on acceptances to send out as we speak

Take it or leave it, up to you. I'm just relaying to everyone what she told me.

To be honest I'm kind of confused with this last part. Do you mind explaining it in more detail?

I called margie today. They are still reviewing apps. She didn't provide me with a time frame though ...

Good luck everyone! 🙂 the waiting is killing me lol

Last part: If medical students trying to match(obtain a residency spot) exceed the # of residency spots, which shouldn't ever happen, then you would be screwed you wouldn't be allowed to practice until you complete residency and you're obligated to pay back your educational debt so even if you declared bankruptcy you are still required to pay back your educational loans (non-dischargeable). 94.1% of American Medical Senior Graduates of Allopathic schools matched in 2011 meaning 5.9% didn't secure a residency and who are also in debt and are also required to pay it back . I was detailing a fictitious scenario or hypothetical scenario of what could happen if the medical student supply was not controlled. The Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2011will probably or hopefully pass in the near future (https://www.aamc.org/newsroom/newsreleases/2011/260830/110923.html) addressing the increase in medical school openings and graduates both DO and MD who will be applying for the limited # of residency spots.

Anyhow... lets hope the waitlist spots pan out for us ^ ^ in a timely manner.

Did you ask if they're reviewing apps for the original 24 or if they're for waitlist spots?

Okay, makes sense. And yeah let's hope..

Rejection emails were sent out 30 min ago, and I got one.

Good luck to everyone else!

were you rejected or waitlisted?

Waitlisted (I thought everyone would be if not outright accepted, I may be wrong)

Waitlisted

Cheers folks.

I'll keep posting with whatever info comes along.

By the way, does anyone remember what was said about the wait list? as far as number of applicants that get put on it? (I vaguely remember something be said during the itnerview)

I hope that the waitlist is comprised of only 4 people wishful thinking ftwin

I got put on the waitlist today as well, but won't be attending even if I do get in. I've kinda had enough of the IE for the rest of my life

did anyone get acceptances today?? are all 24 out for sure as of now?

Hmm, I didn't even get a secondary. By that logic, shouldn't I have been rejected long ago? It seems strange that some of you have been rejected (post-interview) whereas I'm still "in the running" because I never got any emails after that.

I bet they messed up on your app. I know a few people who didn't even get secondaries but when they asked Margie later apparently they were supposed to. One of them got their secondary in December and got an interview invite after turning it in too.

I doubt that.

This was my last email from them, on 10/12/2011:

Dear Applicant:
Your application has been exhaustively reviewed by our Admissions Committee and has been placed on hold. This means that although your application is still in our list of "active" files, we are unable to take any action at the present time.
In the event that you do not secure admission to our program, please take heart in knowing that over the past 35+ years, many of our unsuccessful applicants have gone on to gain admission to other medical/professional schools and have enjoyed rewarding careers in health care. With this in mind, we urge you to continue to pursue your career goals with persistence and vigor.
We greatly appreciate your interest in the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program in Biomedical Sciences, and wish you success in your personal and professional endeavors.

Last year, however, I was one of those people. I went in before Thanksgiving to ask Margie and she had sent it to the wrong email address 3 weeks earlier (she typed it wrong... seriously), but I got an interview invite before actually turning it in.

anyone hear anything new as far as seat availability or are we at the "done deal" stage of haider?

Chances are seats won't open up until after second look, which is in a week or two, so I guess we need to buckle down and wait, some might hold it until may 15th. I believe they wait listed a good # of people it appears 10ish perhaps for maybe 3-4 seats that may open up?

^ seems about right.... I'm 50/50 which way to go on my decision and second look will help towards making that decision but ultimately I may hold on until may 15th, sorry to make one of you possibly wait but this isn't as straight forward decision as it may seem

Helloooooo! 🙂 any fellow waitlisters heard anything yet??

Anyone have the 411 on what's happening?

waiting for may 15th. Anyone know how many days after May 15th they start calling the wait-list? iv look at the past forums and no one seems to have commented about it.

I think people are getting in off the waitlist the FB keeps growing?

I think some of the FB group people are people from previous classes who joined this years group to give advice 🙂
