Rejected

Why do you care that you were rejected if you knew you would never matriculate there? Better yet...Why did you apply?

If someone is willing to publically mock my rejection to my face, I'm not going to praise the school. Especially if they're suffering from a bad case of Tufts syndrome.

edit: To actually respond to you, Tatertots, I "care" because I'm in-state, I love Boston, and my application is not bad. I have many other options in the northeast, but my saying that I would NEVER matriculate there was a bit inaccurate. I understand some people post related gifs to lighten up the mood and seem funny, but when a group of people get together and circlejerk at the fact that someone who gave every last drop of his effort to achieve the stats he has got rejected from a school that was realistic for him, I take that as a "You achieved higher than I did, but that doesn't mean crap. Hah!" I know my comment above sounded douchey, but I assure you I only make douchey statements when they are appropriate. By now, if there is anyone in this thread that is not an ivy-hating state schooler, they would know that the other dude's gif has an anti-high-stats attitude. I don't understand. I don't make fun of state schools. Neither do any of my ivy friends. But in situations like these, I'm really starting to realize that some people have an inferiority complex.

Anyway, I meant no offense, but unexpectedly, some came my way. BU does reject people who have too high stats, so if you think you're better than all of us just because you got an interview invite, it's not always true. If these are the kind of people that BU invites to interview with them, thank God they didn't pick me. So you can stop laughing now. Peace.

P.S. I'm interviewing at more than half of the same places as you, Tots. See ya on the interview trail quite possibly.

Don't get butthurt bro. It wasn't specifically targeted at you. I quoted your post because you have crazy stupid stats. I got rejected too.

for you recent guys who were rejected, when were you complete? (my stats dont even compare to you guys 🙁 )

Mine don't either, and I got an interview. Don't worry--you don't have to be better than others to be qualified... If you're qualified, you have a chance! Good luck!

Interview invitation received this morning at 9:32am EST. Secondary submitted/marked complete July 30th. Interview scheduled for October 10th (earliest date available).

II! 3.00/3.14/33Q URM OOS complete on 7/31. Scheduled for 10/29. Earliest available is 10/24 but I can't make that one.

Do you guys think they are going in order with interview invites? I was complete 8/16 with similar stats/experiences to the people who got invites...I'm dying to know! Looks like people from late July and early August are getting IIs and rejections but it's hard to see if they're going one after another

LOL! Stealing this for my blog. It's exactly how I feel about a rejection I got this morning!

Lol. Would be accurate if BU was a school I'd actually matriculate at.

Uh huh.

Then why apply?

Maybe they could tell you were socially awkward

Seems like it.

hey bro, if you show my your stats then I'll show you mine 😉. Don't worry bro, I won't tell anyone

Pretty sure the committees of schools that get 10,000+ applications follow a workflow that goes something like this:

1) Print off first page of every applicant's file.
2) Neatly sort pages into two stacks, one for qualified applicants, one for unqualified applicants.
3) Shred pages for unqualified applicants.
4) Appropriately shuffle pages for qualified applicants.
5) Toss pages into air.
6) Neatly sort pages into two stacks, one for face-up applicants, one for face-down applicants.
7) Shred pages for face-down applicants.
8) Repeat steps four through seven until number of face-up applicants is equal to number of interviews available.
9) Offer interviews to remaining applicants.
10) Interview all applicants in step nine.
11) Neatly sort pages into two stacks, one for post-interview qualified applicants, one for post-interview unqualified applicants.

14) Toss pages into the air.

16) Shred pages for face-down post-interview qualified applicants.
17) Repeat steps thirteen through sixteen until number of face-up post-interview qualified applicants is equal to the number of initial offers plus waitlist positions.

One could also consider a wind tunnel in lieu of the paper tossing method.

HAHAH omg loveeee this! feels especially true at BU.....

hey i just received an email from BU saying that theyre sorry they haven't taken action on my app yet even though its been 30 days, and that theyll try to make a decision ASAP.

has anyone who has received this email heard anything back from BU after?? I wonder if this just means I'm being placed on hold for re-review?

I was complete on 8/15 and haven't heard anything.

Got that e-mail today too. I think it just means what it says. They are inundated w/ early apps and it is taking them longer than usual to get to them. I think its just a reminder that they haven't forgotten about us (which is nice).

+1. Very nice of them to keep people updated.

Stupid question: how do you upload a picture onto BU's website? I clicked on Select, Upload .. nothing works?

Size it correctly or it won't accept it.

I could use some help from people familiar with transportation in Boston:

I need to get from my interview which ends at 3:00 pm to Logan Airport for a flight that leaves at 7:30 pm. Is there an option cheaper than a cab?

From the med school walk up 1 block to the corner of Mass ave and Washington st. Take the SL4 Silver Bus to South Station. From there take the SL1 Silver Bus to Logan Airport. I take that route all the time to go back home. Costs 2 dollars and takes about 40 minutes and super easy to get to from school.

Oh man great info, how often does that bus run?. Gonna save this post somehow for when I interview. Thanks!

Hopefully soon. I was complete on 7/31. II on 8/29.

Hopefully you're not saying that you want us both get rejected.

Anyways, gratz on your interview. I'd absolutely love to see what the school and the city of Boston has to offer.

Wow super amazed that I got an Interview Invite just now! 32 MCAT 3.89 GPA I was complete 8/9 but I rushed to get the secondary done, and had three typos in the optional essay! Whoops

Nope, just saying that I hope you get your decisions soon 🙂

Nice, congrats! Good luck at the interview, hope to hear it went well.

...what were your ECs like? I have similar stats, and "good" ECs, and I'm really hopeful for this school. Feel free to blow me off and not tell me, or to PM me if you want to remain anonymous 🙂

Second rejection of the day. Complete 8/15. Not really surprised, I guess, but I still wish I could get some good news instead of bad news. 🙁 Good luck guys.

Sorry to hear about all the rejections, everyone.

Does anyone have any insight on the type of student BU even looks for? 😕

No clue, but stats don't seem to be very important.

I have an ii with a 3.00 BPCM, 3.14 cGPA, 33Q (retake of a 28M). I'm a non-AA URM with average research, no pubs/posters, lots of clinical volunteering, some non-clinical, some leadership, lots of shadowing (500+ hours), and about 20 months working in a clinical lab. Nothing spectacular though.
