Great. Thanks for the quick reply.

Don't know if this changes the numbers but the number they interviewed this year was 518, I was the second to last interview and that is the number Dr. Armstrong said.

Wow thats a low number. Good for post-interview though 😉

Wow. Game-changer! That is some exciting news if it is true.

Accepted for MD/PhD earlier this week! This is such a great program, especially for research. Anyone else feel tentative about the curriculum though? I got the vibe during my visit that first and second years were more stressed than the average M1/M2s I encountered elsewhere.

I was, but after talking to a few student's, my concerns were put to rest. They described the notion that "two years of science in one" as false. According to them, you will not learn everything that those at the traditional 2 year pre-clinical schools will. They also said that they never felt like this condensed curriculum adversly effected their step 1 scores (just look at the match list). They did admit that the first year is tough, but then again, what school isn't rough when you are getting adjusted to medical school. I talked to 5 people and there was no hesitation in any of their voices when I asked if they would do it all over again. They felt like they were able to balance a good social life with the one year curriculum, and still perform at a satisfactory level.

Plus your all done in one year 😉

So excited for next monday! Well, I'm actually switching between nervous and excited. Sure hoping to hear good news from this school!

Anyone know how decisions are being released this year (email, status update, etc)?

I am compulsively clicking on SDN links, lol.

I'm also nervous and excited! I believe it's being released via email. I sure hope that 518 number is correct.

So the decisions come out on March 4??? I specifically remember them saying that acceptances are sent out via phone call. Because he told a story of how offended he was when people didn't call back. The 518 number seems really hard to believe! But boy o boy, if it is true, we are all really lucky!:naughty:

Damn, I was hoping for March 1. 😡

Guess I will just have to compulsively click for 3 more days.

This is what my secondary website says regarding method of communication of decisions:

Application Status: Application Complete - Your application process is now complete and your application has been forwarded to our admissions committee. We anticipate distribution of admission decisions to occur some time in early March 2012. This year, all admission decisions will be distributed electronically- via email (applicants offered admission, applicants offered a wait list position, and applicants who will not be offered admission). Decision will be sent to the email address we have on file in your Duke Med Application Account. DECISIONS WILL NOT BE GIVEN OVER THE TELEPHONE (this policy is in place to protect your privacy).

I'm fairly confident that they will not be giving out calls and decisions will be by email. That's how it's always been unless your md/phd

Hopeful that decisions will be released tomorrow! Come on Duke, show me some 😍

for real, I have a lot of work to do-so it'll keep me busy. But Monday can't come soon enough. I was just debating this morning if it's too late to send an update, b/c I kinda forgot...

How do you guys know it's March. 4?

They are no longer accepting updates per a phone call I made yesterday.

LET'S GO DE-VILS!!!

Oh, and win your basketball game too.

Duke's win over MIami last night means we'll all be accepted!

I received a PM from a Duke undergrad applying now who confirmed that decisions will be released tomorrow, by the way.

Good luck!

oh wow, thanks wangers! looks like tomorrow will be a big decision day! any guesses as to what time they might be out?

Typically it's in alphabetical order by last Name beginning in the morning.

Well, I'm early in the alphabet, so at least the pain and suffering will be over quickly.

I'm so nervous and excited for tomorrow! Duke is my top choice but I'm trying to not get my hopes up

I hope you hear good news man!!. It will help if people post their time stamp from the email tomorrow along with the first letter of their last name so we can see how things are progressing

Thanks! If I get an email, SDN posting will be high on my list!

Looking forward to tomorrow, best of luck to everyone

Hey everyone, hopefully tomorrow is the day. Last year acceptances were sent out throughout the day in alphabetical order according to last name. It would be great if everyone who got an acceptance were to mention the time they got the email and also the general whereabouts of where their last name falls in the alphabet.

Wait your MDApps says you're already accepted to Duke!?!! Did you apply MD/PhD, or is there something you haven't said yet! If you have, I missed it...haha. do tell!

Yeah I was fortunate enough to hear a little bit early for MD. I hope you guys get the same good news tomorrow!

+1 on the request for people to post with their last initial!!

I've summarized an approximate timetable for last year's decisions in case this is any bit helpful. Of course, the real data will be more important (don't be shy, post away!), but here's a rough 2012 guideline (Eastern time)!

(time- last initial)
10am- A
12:15pm- H
1:30pm- L
2:50pm- P
3:45pm- S
4:30pm- W
the following morning (9:30am)- all other decisions announced

Apparently, the acceptance letters are personalized and attached to the emails as PDF files, which is why it takes so long to send out. They should be accepting around 200 of the 518 interviewees tomorrow, right?

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! 😍😍😍

Can't wait for the W's at 4:30! :biglove:

You should be accepted just for writing all that up. 😉

Just got the call from Dr. Armstrong at about 6am pst! So thankful for what God has done for me! Best of luck to those waiting!

Last name initial: A

Ahh CONGRATS! end of the alphabet over here so it might be a long day...

Wow. In a way the personalized e-mails make it very special, but on the flip side, could also make it especially hurtful.

You mean...."you didn't like me" 🙁 Which is why it's so important to look to validation from higher sources. Med school's just 4 years!

No one posting for over 20 minutes? Weird. I'm posting just so everyone can be satisfied with their next refresh 😉
