Man, I wish CMS had a student host program... I'm really excited to interview here, but I really hope that a six hour interview day will be enough to show me most of what CMS has to offer.

I've heard a sizable chunk of that six hours is spent sitting around in a room waiting for your interviewer to call you in

This is not true. We spent around 2 hours hanging out in a room getting our 2 interviews completed (9am-11ish) It was actually pretty fun. My group was pretty easy going and social. They hand out a folder of things to read over too. It was not bad. I spent most of those 2 hours in an actual interview. After that, you eat lunch and get a short tour.

fiiiiiiinally entered the small pool 9/14... very excited to be moving along in the process! Hope I hear some good news soon 🙂

Hey guys, How long were your answers? It says one page for all of them. I am a little over a page, the life in discovery is about 1300 characters. What do you think?

Hello friends,

I have an interview at CMS on this Wednesday. I was wondering if someone can explain the schedule of that day in a little bit detail. For example, how long are the interviews. How many other interviewees are with you? And if we can know who our interviewers will be in advance. Any information will be really helpful. Thank you.

If you look through some of the previous pages, I had a summary of the day's events. We do not know who will be interviewing us in advanced and there was 15 of us for 2 30-45 min interviews. One person is on the committee, the other is a student or faculty member that is not on the committee. Most of the interviews seemed to be pretty relaxed. A few said they had a stressful interview (really hard ethics questions and so on). I did not have this issue. We just spoke mostly about me and my ECs.

Hey Alex,

Thanks again! It seems like I am following you to every school's interview. lol. First at SIU and now at CMS. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. 🙂

Passed primary screening!

Edit: Which I guess means I just hopped in the small pool

How do you know that you've passed the primary screening? Do you get an email? Unless I'm mistaken you can't check the status online.

I read it in a fortune cookie.

Which was then confirmed by the email they sent me. No online check, just have to check your email a lot

In the interview invite email, they said the day would end around 2pm. Is that accurate?

I'm sure this is in here somewhere, but does anyone have an idea of what the size of the small pool is? And how many people are interviewed from this small pool?
Thanks!

I heard a rumor that Depaul may buy CMS. Is this true?

Well well that rumor has been circulating around DePaul college of science a lot these days, but I didn't expect to hear about it on sdn. I've talked with my advisors and other people "in-the-know" and the short answer is No.

Long answer is that there have been more and more collaborative efforts by DePaul and Rosalind over the past couple of years, and I know they would like to someday have a funnel system from DePaul to certain programs at RFU (pharm and pa come to mind). The summer research I did at RFU was paid for by DePaul, so there was faculty from both schools working together on that. No one will admit to anything too big right now, and I'm not too sure about DePaul outright buying CMS. It does seem like they might be heading in that direction over the next 5-10 years though.

Interesting, thanks for the info! The only reason I heard about this rumor was from a relative who is a CMS graduate.

SO, I just did some creeping. They've sent two batches of II out so far - on 8/13 and 8/31. Looks like there SHOULD be another batch this week... but who really knows. 🙄

Anyone else on here interviewing on Oct 15 and interested in sharing the taxi costs to/from o'hare?

Yes, most likely it will be earlier. Think my day ended ~1:25ish. The last thing we did was the tour. That could be faster or slower depending on the tour guide and how many questions are asked.

Your probably better off renting a car. Its about a 40 min drive one way, which will be an expensive cab ride to pay twice. When I interviewed at CMS, I rented a car at Ohare for $75 fyi.

You can reserve a cab from American Taxi and it's a flat 42$ or so to North Chicago. Better to let someone drive me imo.

II today!

entered primary screening 8/9
small pooled 9/6

so excited!! best of luck everyone!

Congrats for those who received II. Are u guys IS or OOS?

I'm IS. You can see my MDApps for more info, but 32Q, c 3.62, s 3.58, reapplicant.

I received an interview invite this morning as well 🙂

~3.7 / ~36 / OOS

I was small-pooled on 8/15, so don't get discouraged if you don't hear back right away!

Interview Invite in the middle of orgo lab this morning!!!

complete and small pooled - 9/18
II - 9/20

Not a huge fan of having to give top three dates, and then not knowing until right before interview 🙁

How long does it usually take for them to get back to you with your actual interview date??

Man I passed screening 7/30. Maybe I'll get an II the next round. Congrats guys!

How long did you guys wait to get a complete email (if there is one?)? I've been waiting a week and still nothing from this school except for this email.

"Thank you for your submitting your supplemental application and fee to the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University. Your complete supplemental application is necessary for further consideration of your application. The final deadline for the supplemental application letters of evaluation and MCAT scores is December 1, 2012. Deadline extensions will not be permitted. We recommend you complete your application as soon as possible to be given the earliest consideration."

Does this mean that I'm missing something? 😕

Interview Invite today! I passed through primary screening on the 18th so this was quite a quick turnaround. Stats are OOS, 34S, 3.96.

They just emailed me back - I'll be there Oct 17, which was my first choice!

They probably responded so promptly because I emailed them back with my choice of dates a whopping 9 minutes after I received the II email. 😛
