Just submitted my secondary today after getting my MCAT yesterday. When I submitted, I encountered some weird HTML error. On my second try, I realized it deleted my pic but was successful. I emailed the office asking if I could send them a pic via email.

Anyone think this will hurt me or if the office will allow me to send in a pic? I know it's optional; but it's good to let them have a pic... Thanks and good luck to all!

odds are they will not care. if they do, do you really want to go to a school that screws you over when a picture wasn't included but you offered if you could send it?

I don't get it when people ask these "Would you really wanna go to a school that blah blah" nonsense hypos. Yes god damn it.

Haha +1

The admissions committee has pretty much no bearing on the prestige/effectiveness of the medical school itself. I don't understand why people say these things.

The people in the admissions office are really nice, and understand IT errors. I am sure you can send in a picture.

Also, to whoever said that CMS doesn't interview a lot of out of state applicants, that is definitely not true. Only a small portion of admitted students are actually from Illinois. We have a lot of Canadians and Californians especially. That is the benefit of going to a private school- where you are from has no bearing on your application

well according to msar they interviewed 325 out of 8000+ OOS. they must just have a high yield from that

Yes, I will go to any school that will make me a doctor!

reasoning behind this analogy. that to me, would be the equivalent of some grader in med school saying "well you didn't throw your last name on this sheet, so I'm going to give you a zero on the whole thing so you flunk out"

Yes, because a hardass admissions committee definitely means they will grade you harshly.

no. this is not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is if you expect everyone to be so ridiculously inhuman and show no signs of forgiveness and to dock you for stupid little things all the time, why would you not expect something as stupid as this in medical school. Its called hyperbole.

I think the point is that pretty much everyone would attend even the most nitpicky "stupid-things-docking" medical school in the country if it was their only acceptance. Turning down a medical school acceptance because somebody grades you harshly? What a joke 😛

I'd gladly take your spot if you choose to turn it down due to something silly 😉

Which is why I originally was telling the person that if they really give that much of a hoot about something as dumb as a picture, would they really want to be there? I personally will take whatever acceptance I get (and be dang glad for one). I just took offense because your comments seemed to be inflammatory. If no offense was meant, then i apologize if anything I have said offends you as well.

on a side note. yes i totally said give a hoot. cuz owls rock. 😀

You're right, I probably was a bit of an ******* there. Didn't mean to be a jerk 🙂.

Also--owls? 😕

Does anyone know how many percentage of applicants would get small pooled?

Lol I like it

LoL, nice derailment folks. Oh look, a chicken! 🙂

So, is the current trend about a month after sending in your secondary to start hearing things (e.g., pooling and such)?

i entered on the tenth of august. small pooled the 6th of sept. so that one month thing sounds right to me and my sample size of n=1

does anyone kno when/if they start rejecting people who are in the small pool?

I think that's an overstatement. My class (2013) has a plurality of Illinoisians, about 40%. I don't know if that's gone down in the past few years, but I would be surprised if it has, since I've heard that they have been trying to increase it.

Great use of "plurality." 👍

Anyone have any interview experience here?

If it's anything like last year, it'll be two pretty relaxed interviews. Interviewers could be faculty, administration, or a med student (probably M3 or M4). I will probably not check this thread that much, so PM me with any questions you might have. GL to everyone!:luck:

I submitted my secondary august 23rd, but still no complete email yet...anyone else in a similar boat or should I call to check up?

Give it some time. I submitted around July 3rd and got the complete (as well as entering screening) on August 10th.

I believe you also submitted around the peak submission time, so that might take some time.

I do now (I just got home from it today). I can say for me personally it was extremely laid back. The first interview was a med student and he was very relaxed and asked me questions that weren't too difficult, and the second was a professor and we talked about soccer the whole time. Some of the other people there were saying that some of the interviewers really grilled them so I think it's kind of a mixed bag. Message me if you have any other questions.

Hey I was just wondering if people who are applying or are already in wouldn't mind posting their stats? The MSAR says MCAT ranges between 25-35 and GPA 3.26-3.94. But I'm just curious if it would be more competitive for OOS, any info is helpful! Thanks

I know who you are now. haha

I had the same experience. Both of my interviews were very relaxed. It was a good experience.

Not sure what its worth to you, but Im OOS with a 36 and 3.9/3.9 and got an II here

Interviews were very relaxed for me as well. I would definitely prepare numerous questions for the interviewers though. Over half of my second interview was just me asking questions. Hope this helps...

Okay seriously Rosalind Franklin, where is my interview invite???!

Is there anything I need to do after this to make my app complete?

Is there anything I need to do after this to make my app complete?

This email just means you submitted your secondary. I'd make sure everything else is in there, and then eventually you should get another email confirming that your application is complete. You can always email them if you think you might be missing something - they seem to be pretty good about responding to emails.

>_< Ok, seriously. Complete email on 7/19, entered primary screening 7/20 and small-pooled 7/31...andddd nothing.

I'm dying over here. Blech!

Haven't been any II's in a while from here, I don't believe. Hoping a batch comes out soon!!
