FYI:
CMS only interviews Sept-December for MD applicants. January and February are dedicated solely to applicants within their other programs such as Biomedical sciences etc. So if you haven't heard back/gotten an interview by the time end of December comes, you won't interview until March. They had around 11,000 applicants this year. Have gotten nowhere near to finishing those screenings. Given acceptances to about 1/3 of their class size so far. (I'm close with the admissions board)

well, anything to extend the admissions process! :scared:

still small pooled since 11/2 for me.

I did not. But was waitlisted less than a week after interview so I still believe my file had not been reviewed till now.

I also got waitlisted 1 wk after interviewing, and have gotten accepted this last round. I did send a letter, but it a mix between a thank you, update and expression of interest. I was a bit slow to send it but I think it got there right before the acceptances. Not really sure if it would have much bearing on the decision but def. didn't hurt me.

I know that this is true for January, but not for February (I actually interviewed in the beginning of Feb), but it may have changed. There is still time to apply, I believe, and still plenty of chances for interviews and acceptances. Don't give up hope!

I've entered primary screening 2 months ago and I still haven't gotten small pooled or rejected... 😕

Is this more or less the end?

Hah, small pooled one day after I posted this. It's because they read my post...I know it. 🙄

Complete 9/28.
Primary Screening 10/5
Small Pooled 11/29

Almost exactly the same timetable here, small pooled just now. Except add the part where I sent some innocuous update and they went to the trouble to write back and say we don't take updates, how dare you!

Seriously, though, an old friend went here and says it more than got the job done. I'm excited.

Pardon my ignorance but what's this "letter of interest/update" that everyone is talking about? :help: i sent in my secondary a few days ago but i haven't heard anything from the university yet.

Thanks!

It's a letter that you write to express interest in the school or provide updates regarding your current activities (e.g volunteer, grades, etc).

And it's gonna be a while before you hear back from them, unfortunately. That's how it goes for everyone else who applied to RFU 🙁

oh thank you! so i assume that you can choose to send this letter after your interview to let the university know that you are still interested in the program and it might give u a better fighting chance?

Yeah, you can send those letters after your interview. But I don't think they take those letters pre-interview

Does anyone know if we can store luggage at the office on the day of our interview?

Can someone who has interviewed describe the interview day? I have an interview next week and want to know what I am getting into.

Thanks guys!

I was wondering if there is any link to check status of our application ?
I received the below email in early October and since then I haven't hear from this university. Any idea ? Any body in the same situation ?
Thanks

There's no status that you can find online. Everything is done through email.

Try searching a little bit harder... The rest of the things you are wondering can be found in this thread.

Here's how I remember the day:
They admissions staff gives you a brief presentation on the school (curriculum, FAQ's, etc).
You have two interviews (on my day the combination of faculty, staff, and students for your interviews varied).
A couple of med students give you a tour of the facilities and answer your questions and take you to lunch.
You have a brief presentation from the financial aid office.

That's all I remember!
The admissions staff and students were all very nice and tried their best to put you at ease!

Good luck!

Yup, that is about what the day is. ClownTown (love the name, btw) send me a message if you have any other questions about the day, hotel, etc

Submitted secondary in late August, and I just got small pool email today. Wow their slow, I had pretty much given up based on everyone else's timeline, but I guess I'm still in play.

has anyone gotten rejected pre-small pool?

Just small pooled today!!! Hurrah, hurrah!!! Submitted application mid August. Passed primary screening 10/5. Small pooled 12/5! Fingers crossed...

9/9 submit
10/5 entered screening
12/5 screening complete

A little bummed to be in the regular pool and not the "small" pool.

How did you know it is a regular pool?
Mine said, "This means you are in the pool of applicants who may be invited to interview with CMS."

Does anyone know what percent of smallpooled individuals get interviews?

So there are two pools? Regular and small? How do you distinguish between them?!😱

Once you are complete you can automatically assume you are in the "regular" pool. If you get "small pooled" you will be emailed saying "Your file is complete and has passed a primary screening. This means you are in the pool of applicants who may be invited to interview with CMS. However, this does not guarantee an invitation and you may be invited to interview or declined an interview at anytime during the admissions process." I assume this is what people mean when they say small pooled. I received this 11/5 and the next day was invited to an interview. Hope this helps.

I was complete in about early Oct and I just got small pooled a couple days ago. RFU tends to send its stuff out in waves so you might be in the small pool but they haven't even told you yet! RFU is slow, be patient and optimistic. 🙂
