Good to hear! I am interviewing with Dr. Willmore on September 10 and now I'm even more excited!! This will probably be my first interview so it's good to know Ill have a nice guy doing it.

So if my interview is in the afternoon, and I'm staying with a student host, will I just go to campus in the morning with them and hang out? It's not a problem but just wondering

He's huge on professionalism, so act appropriately.

My fee + secondary was all processed on 7/9, and the status page says Application Complete. However, my LOR were sent out through AMCAS 7/25 and I got no e-mail or status change saying my LOR have been received after that from SLU. Is this normal?

Does anyone know what Dr. James Drake's interview style is?

How is Dr. Ross Heller? He looks like a jolly guy haha

I thought Dr. Ross Gellar was a paleontologist? Either way I know he likes his sister Monica's Thanksgiving sandwiches a lot. He might say the wrong name in the interview, but don't freak out, he does that a lot. He also is still super in love with his high school crush Rachel, so feel free to bring her up.

🙂

Interviewed with him two years ago--he's really friendly, and easygoing. He never asked me any difficult questions, just about my life and my application.

I think most of the SLU interviewers are like this.

This is what my host said in an email about my interviewer:

"I have great intel on Dr. Willmore. He is the dean of admissions. Neurologist. Generally a really nice guy. Likes golf and lives in my neighborhood. He likes to catch you either lying about stuff on your application or not knowing about the stuff. He sits and googles the items from your app and what you tell him to try to catch you in an inconsistency. He also has a strange habit of acting pissed, leaving the room then returning and acting totally casual. It will be an experience! The good news is that I know a lot of people who thought they bombed his interview and are now my classmates. Best advice, be honest and humble. Don't overstate your knowledge or brag about something unless you are prepared to be grilled on it. If you are frank, honest and professional, you'll do great."

Kinda scared now and my interview is on Monday.. *gulp*

Anyone interested in splitting a room with me on the nights of September 18th and 19th? Must be female. I'm looking into Ramada Plaza Downtown St. Louis Convention Center and it would cost about 80 bucks for the 2 nights per person. I'm interviewing on the 18th, but am staying a couple days extra to do some exploring 🙂 Let me know! PM me.

Good luck!! Think of it as having a better shot at getting accepted now that you know what you're in for! 👍

So interview is Monday and I just realized there is no info meeting with financial aid or presentations about the school scheduled. Are the only scheduled activities really tour, lunch, and interview? I'm worried I won't get to learn as much as I'd like. Also, is there a way to tour or see the hospital? I heard it's not included on the tour normally.

Could any current students or ppl who have interviewed already weigh in on this?

haven't interviewed at this school, but I can tell you from other schools that a short interview day is a GOOD interview day. i'm sure they have some kind of second look or something for accepted students that you could go to later once accepted. my experience has always been that the days are too long and filled with too much info that you won't really need unless you get accepted anyway

that being said i can't imagine that they wouldn't have any presentations like this.. maybe they just didn't make the schedule very detailed

just wondering if this school does silent rejections? was complete on the 7th of August and no status change at all... ? anyone else have this experience or should I start thinking about crossing it off the list?

Completed my app nearly the same day and have not heard anything as well. I am especially disappointed because this is one of my top choices...but I don't think we should cross it off quite yet.

SLU doesn't seem to do any kind of "small pool" or anything before you get an interview invite. Sooooooo you could find out in January that you get an interview invite and you won't have heard anything else before then. So the only time to cross it off your list would be if they tell you that you're rejected... because otherwise it could be a very long time before you hear anything.

Interview on Monday. Scheduled for a late interview with Dr. Railey. Pretty excited and nervous at the same time. Oh the joy! 😎

I'll see you there! I'll be the one wearing a robin costume

Got to STL tonight to stay with my host, and I stop at a gas station nearby to fill up/ check my map. Next, car won't start... End up walking to his place about 5 minutes away from the gas staton, and him, his friend and I jump my car. Disaster avoided.

Interview tomorrow and really excited!

Yikes - that's enough to rattle already shaken nerves. Hope tomorrow goes more smoothly! :luck:

Does anyone know anything about William Perman? I am interviewing with him on October 1st.

Good luck. Good thing you got to walk in daylight!

Hey everyone, had my interview yesterday and it was awesome. I interviewed with Dr. Railey but I heard the other interviewers were great too. The campus is beautiful. The students were awesome and they really loved SLU. So don't be nervous, it will go very smoothly. Good luck to you all 😀

Interview invitation!! So excited ahhhhh! Oh right stats IS, 34S, 3.96

So I got an invite today and scheduled my II for 10/15. How long after you select the date do you get information about the exact time and your interviewer? I'm trying to decide when I can fly out afterward.

does anyone know anything about the interview spots at anheuser and st marys? Would it be better to pick a date at the medical center at the expense of a more convenient day? (i'll be flying out there)

Depends where your hotel is. The AB Institute is about a mile or two from the medical center and St. Marys is about 6 miles. Both are in areas that you might consider living in if you matriculate at SLUSOM.

Does anyone know anything about interviews with Claudia Vidal M.D.?

Just got an invite to interview 10/23. Anyone else going then?

Stats: 34O, ~3.8 science & cumulative GPAs, avg other stuff, OOS

I interviewed with Willmore last year and I would agree with the above statements. He was by far my least favorite interviewer out of all my interviews. At certain times he made it very uncomfortable by giving blank or strange looks when answering general questions. He asked very specific questions about some of the work and procedures about the doctors I shadowed and when I didn't know the answers he made it sound like it was really obvious and I was stupid for not knowing. Lastly, when I was talking about my family, I mentioned my sister was going to college and majoring in English to which he scoffed and sarcastically said, "Good luck with that." I just found him condescending and really disliked him. The other interviewees I talked to also had similar experiences. Having said all this, my student hosts and other current students I talked to made it sound like plenty were accepted after interviewing with him. So even though you may feel like you did poorly, I'm guessing the majority of others feel the same and many still get accepted. I do believe though that the interview and interviewer can have a large influence on your mood and of course on how you view the school so I don't think he is helping the school with his interview style. Just be prepared for what you are up against.

Invitation to Interview received yesterday!

Good luck interview buddies!

II yesterday and scheduled at the St. Mary's Hospital location. I'm OOS, does anybody know if I need to be able to transport myself from the hospital to SLU campus?

Most probably, unless a student host can help you out. Have you tried calling and seeing if you can get an interview at the main campus? I've heard they can switch you with an IS person since they usually have a car. Good luck.

Is anyone doing a thank you note post interview? Because I never got my interviewer's email address and can't find it online

I picked the St. Mary's one because it was on a better day than the SLU campus ones, but I'll change it if I really have to. Shot them an email since it was after hours but I'll give them a call next week if they don't respond. Or maybe I can make friends with a fellow interviewee and hitch a ride on October 15 😀 *hint hint*

SLU alum, St. Louis resident, and St. Mary's ER employee here. I would imagine you'd have to arrange your own ride. Your other option would be the Metro, but it's quite a hike from the the nearest Metro station to St. Mary's. A cab from SLU's campus to St. Mary's shouldn't be too expensive. It's just a quick trip down Grand and then all interstate to the hospital. I live about a mile and a half south of SLU and I make that trip in 15 or so minutes by car or 35 by bike.

Good luck! Hoping for an II myself!

I live across from slu ug and st marys is like an 8 minute drive. There's also a hotel just down the block that you could walk from.
