Has anyone that has been accepted applied for a dual degree? If so, have you found out if you were accepted to that program as well?

I applied to the dual degree as well. The guy who called me Friday didn't mention it, and caught up in the moment, I forgot to ask. He did say they would be emailing, which I thought would have arrived today, but it hasn't. It might be in the email and/or hard copy acceptance they send out.
EDIT: the guy was calling to offer me an acceptance, is what I mean
I think they are putting off sending the emails until they are done with this batch of acceptance calls. I got the call this morning, also applied to dual degree and he didn't mention it on the phone.
Congrats to all the accepted! Could you post your stats if you don't mind? Around what time of day are people getting calls?
I think they are. I have an interview here tomorrow but when I checked the available dates yesterday I saw spots in February and March. Is tufts still giving out interviews?
i interviewed in october and have heard zip.

kjbds1, i have a few questions!Hey all -
I'm currently a 1st year med student at Tufts. Some people on SDN were helpful to me last year, so I figured I'd pass it on. I'm happy to help answer any questions people have about Tufts, the Maine Track, or Boston in general. Feel free to PM me or respond in this thread. It may take me a few days to respond, but I'll try and get back to you as soon as I can. Good luck everyone!

Historically though, I wouldn't be too surprised if 5pm comes with no news.
thank you kjbds1! it was very helpful 🙂kjbds1, i have a few questions!
1) im not sure you could answer this as an MS1 but what is the patient population like at tufts? its located in chinatown so im afraid the patient population would be dominated by asians. nothing against asians! (im asian), but i would prefer more diversity... is there diversity in patients?
In general, there's quite a bit of diversity in the patient population. Floating Children's Hospital has extremely talented physicians and attracts wide variety of children from next door to multiple hours away. It's the closest hospital to Downtown, and people from all over the city come specifically to Tufts. Also, probably the biggest single factor is that Chinatown simply isn't that big.
2) do you think the name of the school helps MS4 students when they apply for residencies? (i know the board exams and such are the #1 priority...)
Given that I'm a long way from that and haven't experienced it directly, yes, I do think is helps MS4s. I'm doing a selective with a highly renowned microsurgeon, and both he and his colleagues have nothing but positives to say about Tufts.
3) would you say the education at tufts is worth the pricetag?
Yes, for two reasons - Tufts and the Boston medical community. Tufts is an excellent school, and the medical opportunities in Boston really are second to none (you could make a decent argument about Seattle, though). All 4 schools and all the teaching hospitals have strong relationships w/each other, so if there's someone doing something in Boston that you want to be a part of, there's a lot of ways to make that happen.
4) during my interview at tufts, the thing that really made a good impression on me were the administrative people. they seemed so genuinely caring about the success of the students. of course the school wants to sell itself to its applicants 🙂 but as an MS1, do you find the faculty at tufts to be truly helpful?
I had the same experience you did with interviewing, I found Tufts to be the most welcoming by far of the schools I interviewed at. The faculty is ridiculously helpful. First trimester, all exams are Monday morning. Most professors specifically stay up until midnight on Sunday night to answer any email questions, and they then send out the question and answer to all students, in case others are having difficulty with that same topic. Additionally, I've found the MS2s to be really helpful.
5) do you know about the sharewood project? is it easy or difficult to volunteer at the free clinic? i know with some schools, their free clinic program is so popular that only a very small fraction get an opportunity to volunteer because the shifts get filled up so fast.
While I don't have any experience with Sharewood (I volunteer at a Women and Children's Health Center in Dorchester), from what I've heard for several friends, the experience can be a bit of a mixed bag. The biggest problems are that as a MS1, you simply don't have the training to do much, and there are a number of students who apply, and know several people who decided to spend more time at Sharewood next year. However, I also have some friends who have loved it and gained a lot from it. It really depends on your attitude.
As I was responding, I was aware that I sounded a bit like a Tufts cheerleader, but I really have had amazing opportunities here, and have genuinely enjoyed every facet of it.
For those of you who've been accepted, have you gotten an e-mail or the acceptance packet yet? I got the call on Monday but haven't even received the email yet (I know the packet is supposed to come later).
Siiiiighhh interviewed mid october....still no news this week
Expecting the worst at this point

This is a fruitless question but do you think they really made all the accept calls last week? It looks like all the calls only went out on Monday and Tuesday?
everyone is so pessimistic. Im holding out hope....phone in hand.

The word you are looking for is realistic.
Hi, would you mind saying when your application was complete?Last week got my interview for Tufts!!! 1/31!
All acceptance calls were made and letters to others will be mailed this week
Just got the acceptance email. Got the phone call like 2 weeks ago.
Deferred here just now. i.e. Waitlisted, even if they don't call it that yet. Interviewed 10/18
I just got deferred via email as well... Question, what do you mean by "i.e. Waitlisted, even if they don't call it that yet."? What's the difference between the two and which status offers "more hope", I guess?
The wait is the hardest and now we gotta wait even longer... 🙁 At least it means there's still hope? 🙂

For everyone accepted/considering attending....is the pricetag daunting for you as well? Is the cost going to be a factor for you in deciding which school to choose, if you have multiple acceptances?
