3.0 sGPA, 3.16 cGPA, 3.88 grad GPA, 34 MCAT and out of state

Super excited for BU, absolutely a top choice for me!

It seems like people who got II's are notified within 2-3 weeks of secondary completion and those who are rejected are notified till till later??
Anyone submitted their secondaries on 8/7 heard anything yet?

I was complete on 8/7...now I am afraid a rejection is on my way

Just got the email talking about text message notifications. I got so excited...

Yeah! The worst. I can't believe they sent us a message just to tell us that they're updating the way they send messages.

complete 8/7. heard nothing yet. I'm super scared 🙁

I have an MCAT score slightly below their average but got an II in early August. I was bit surprised at first considering their stats, but nevertheless very grateful.

I'm not sure how they screen, but just wanted to bring this up in case anyone who hasn't heard back and has some numbers below their radar is hoping very much for an interview - don't give up hope! Of course, at the same time, it'd be good not to have your hopes up too high. >.<

Nov 6.

And I was under review for over four weeks, so those of you thinking you're rejected can have a little hope 🙂

You never posted you got an interview invite! Congrats 🙂
Your app was marked complete on 8/7, right? When did you get your interview invite?

Lol, I've been trying to stay below the radar on my actual interview invites...but since this thread provokes so much anxiety over expected rejection...I got my invite today 🙂

I live in Boston and wrote a very BU-specific optional essay on why I want to go to school there.

And...rejection today. Can't say I didn't see that one coming. Oh well...so it goes. Complete 7/31.

rejected. Complete 7/31. Bummer, I really liked this school and wrote the optional essay.

Rejected today. Complete 8/5. It actually doesn't hurt that much, great school but I guess I'm not a fit. Everything happens for a reason, good luck to those waiting to hear back!

Rejected. Low MCAT, OOS. Oh well. I hear it's really expensive to live in Boston anyway. Guess I can unsubscribe to this thread!

Rejected today as well, complete 8/7. Best of luck to everyone else!

Rejected. 3.84 cGPA, 3.94 sGPA, 38 MCAT, good ECs, OOS. Oh well, best of luck to everyone!

Wow. Not even an interview with these stats?!?!?!? What in the world is BU looking for?

Rejection! ehh i had a feeling it was coming my way... OOS completed 8/8. 32/3.75

Holistic review? My stats are way lower and I got an interview at the beginning of this month. Kind of comforting at times. Haha.

BU probably cares about socioeconomic status, disadvantage, unusual circumstances, etc more than most schools.

cGPA 3.6, MCAT 31, OOS, traditional applicant, complete 8/6--> rejected. Bummer, this was definitely a top choice.

Did anybody else with an II get the diversity invitation today? What are your thoughts?

Planning on going, at the moment. Although I'm confused--do we need to RSVP?

Granted I'm in Boston already so staying an extra hour is very easy to do. I doubt there are repercussions if you need to leave because of travel arrangements.

rejected 9/10: MCAT 33 balanced, 3.57 cGPA, 3.77sGPA, OOS, extensive research, 2 first-author papers, completed 8/8, wrote the optional essay... well, the first decision I received...

I don't think we have to RSVP. I think the provided contact info is just if you have a specific topic you'd like to discuss. I have travel arrangements, but I'm pretty sure I can stay! Just to be clear, it wouldn't be out of place for a non-URM to attend, right? I've had a lot of experiences with uninsured and underinsured patients and I would like to hear what they have to say (as they addressed that in the email.)

I don't think it'd be out of place at all. Diversity initiatives should be inclusive. I am also not a URM, although I am a non-trad, and the patient populations I am most interested in working with are underserved.

Also, given your response and some of the others in the thread, I suspect that BU takes experience with or interest in underserved populations very seriously when choosing their interviewees, given the population served by BMC.

Does anyone know how receptive BU is to "in the area" emails? I'll be in Boston for another interview on the 10th and I'm hoping to interview here. I've been complete since 8/12 so I'm hoping not to hear from BU with a rejection soon...

Okay, awesome! And I totally agree!!

Was the diversity email sent to everyone with an ii? I'm definitely not a URM and received the email this morning. I don't think they were targeting URMs, just applicants with diverse interests.
unless the email was sent to everyone, in which case I have no idea
