2013-2014 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you don't mind me asking, were you just waitlisted today? I still have not received any post-interview decision.... and it's been about 7 months

I'm in the same boat... been waiting since September. I feel like this is unfair to students. We need to figure out our plans for next year!

I feel you @pDeluxe! I'm about to hit my 6-month mark in terms of post-interview decision! =[
Solidarity! :horns:

I really want to know what numerical score they gave people like us to warrant such a drawn out process.

Was wait listed back mid march. But yeah I can see your frustration considering the uncertainty about in which of the "limbos" your currently sitting in. ( The one before getting accepted-wait list or the one were your between wait listed- rejection) One of those could give you really good news or it puts you into a really good position come May 15th. While the other really seams like probably the most dragged out no I have heard of.
Either way uncertainty is awful. It seams like a lot of our plans and planning are on hold until we get a decision from Geisel.

I interviewed 2 days ago, really enjoyed the visit... and supposedly the last committee meeting is today. Supposedly the NeedAccess & Geisel financial aid application was due the day of my interview - did anyone who is currently waitlisted already complete the NeedAccess app?

I didn't complete any financial aid stuff besides FAFSA... Never received any information regarding NeedAccess or Geisel specific forms.

If it helps, the info is on their Financial Aid website.
Welp. I wasn't aware that their policy applied to students who hadn't been accepted, let alone no decisions. Guess I'll email them and see if they're willing to work with me.

I think I remember from the interviews that they said that there wasn't a due date for the financial aid forms, but that it would be nice to get them in before you're accepted so they can put together your financial aid packet quickly. This is especially true for people who are accepted late (hopefully us...) because they won't give us much time to complete the forms then.

The financial aid application checklist they gave has a due date of April 15th.

Was waitlisted as well this morning, but withdrew from it soon afterwards.

It's been a nice 6-months Dartmouth.

By the sounds of it all remaining post interview decisions have been made known today. If I remember correctly from now on its pretty much a stack of applications on Andys desk and who and when they get off of the wait list is strictly at his discretion. Anybody wana go halfsies on a box of chocolates/6 pack for him?

Hmm, I still don't have anything in my inbox. And now I'm slightly panicked.

Anyone else hear nothing? Or did Dartmouth just lose/forget about me? 🙁

I guess I'll call them Monday...but man, way to make a girl call to hear tough news...

🙁

Hey girl. Keep your chin up. It's gonna be all right. You're pretty amazing.

@hopefloatsss Don't worry, you're not alone! I haven't gotten a decision back post-interview yet although I interviewed end of february/early march. I guess our scores were in the limbo category between the wait list and acceptance...or between rejection and the wait list if you want to be pessimistic lol. Fingers crossed that we'll hear some good news soon!

Wait listed today. Interviewed on April 10th. 😕🤔

I haven't heard anything yet either. Interviewed on March 11th.

Waitlisted as well. Luckily, May 15th isn't too far away so hopefully we'll hear good news in the next month!!

guess I was wrong about decisions being done coming out, although most of the recent ones aren't ones that people were hoping for.

Is it just me, but I feel like so many of us on the waiting list!
but yeah it keeps me wondering about what is a realistic chance of actually getting off of it.

Thanks, I hope so too! I was reading last year's thread and someone said that everyone hears a decision by mid-April. Of course, their last interview day was late March last year, but I think they went into April this year.

The very last interview day was April 15th. I was wait-listed 3 days afterward.

Good luck to all of you!

I know there have been various people say they have/haven't sent LOIs in on this thread but I was wondering if a current student could comment on the LOI post-waitlist etiquette for Geisel? @physicsnerd42 , maybe?
Here are my thoughts:
1) They say in the waitlist follow up email that they would like to keep people on the waitlist who are strongly interested in Geisel, but in the Waitlist Letter it seems like they only want updates sent, not love letters. So, how does one show a strong interest in Geisel if we can't send a love letter? I've read on other threads that some schools will send you to the bottom of the waitlist if you send things they've told you that they don't want. What is the feeling at Geisel? Will the LOI help me or destroy me?
2) Does anyone know if Geisel is one of those schools where you're "supposed" to follow up with your interviewer to "show interest"? (I'm talking outside of thank you notes). For other schools I've heard people talk about "Letting their interviewer know about their interest" when they are waitlisted.

GAH. A year into this and I still don't know how it works.
Thanks in advance!

Wondering this too. In my reply to the waitlist letter, I said that I'd like to submit a LOI if welcomed. Their reply to confirm receipt of my email didn't address my LOI request.

Deflecting questions like pros lol. Gotta love this process <3

Withdrew today. Dartmouth was my top New England choice, but I am receiving much more aid elsewhere. GL eveyone matriculating here.
