I'm pretty sure it stays on "Application Screening" until you are either offered an interview or not offered an interview.

Interview invite!!! I applied to the Primary Care Leadership Track (PCLT). I was marked as complete on 7/17. OOS, non-trad, and thrilled to have the opportunity to interview for such a fantastic program.

Surely, that's fantastic!

As another OOS non-trad who has applied to the PCLT and was complete shortly after you, you give me hope that I may hear from Duke soon. 🙂 What sort of interview dates were you offered?

Duuuuuuuuukkkkkeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I'm am SO excited to have gotten invited here!

What sort of interview dates were you offered?

Shoot, I apparently can't access the calendar now that I've selected my date. They were all Mondays and Fridays, and I chose 10/14. 10/28 was another option I think I remember seeing.

I just called the admissions office today and they said that if you checked the box for PCLT, you'll be taken to a separate interview during the day that is just for PCLT, otherwise, your day will be the same as everyone else's. The schedule they give you in the morning should have all the information.

does anyone know how many people they accept post-interview?

Per USNWR:

Total applicants: 4675
Interviewed: 764
Accepted: 239
Enrolled: 101

how does that work? does 138 people really opt out of duke after being accepted?

what is all 239 that were selected happened to want to enroll, can duke handle all of that or do they have to kick people out?

Yes, 138 people declined their acceptance. This is common for all medical schools; they need to accept at least twice as meany people as they are capabale of enrolling because all candidates apply to more than one school and the top candidates receive multiple offers and can only attend one medcal scholl at a time! (lol)

You have to keep in mind that the caliber of student getting accepted to a school like Duke probably has multiple acceptance at other schools, including top 10's.

They don't accept all 239 students all at the same time. They may accept let's say 150 first. and then start filling in the class (after 5/15) by accepting people off of the wait-list when they know how many people are choosing elsewhere.

II! I'm glad I happened to log into the system, it's been posted for almost a month, never received an email. Oye. Anyone else 9/30 needs a ride, I will probably rent a car from the airport.

Congrats! Does it just say at the top of the page when you first log in?

Complete: 8/1/2013
Rejected: 9/11/2013 (I only checked the site today, was probably rejected sooner.)

Wait, isn't Duke non-rolling? I thought they announced all decisions together in March, including rejections.

Apparently not for us select few that they reeeeeallly didn't like haha...just kidding I have no idea

Stinks though bc I put a lot of time and effort into those essays just to get rejected right off the bat, oh well that's how this crazy process goes!

What did your status say?

Application Status: Application Declined - Thank you for your interest in the Duke University School of Medicine. We deeply appreciate the work you've put into your application but we are sorry to inform you that the Admissions Committee has not selected you for an interview. While we recognize that this decision may be disappointing, it is in no way a reflection of your potential as a future physician. We wish you great success in your academic and professional pursuits.

Pretty sure it's just post interview rejections they hold til march

Is Duke truly Pass/Fail for its one preclinical year?

Does anyone know how Duke feels about sending updates? My application has been "in screening" since mid-August.
I applied MD/PhD and failed to mention in the additional information section my job for this year working in a lab...I didn't have this job when I submitted AMCAS so Duke has no idea what I'm doing this year! I don't see anywhere online where I can submit an update and nothing references it either.

Yes, you can email them an update letter and it'll be added to your file.

When were you marked as complete? Sorry to hear that, hope you hear some good news from other schools soon!

I actually called recently and was told over the phone that they don't accept update letters right now. Weird.

Interesting. I'm not really sure what's going on then. I called them about 3 weeks ago regarding update letters to make sure since not every school will accept pre-interview updates but the woman in the admissions office told me they would definitely accept it and just gave me her address and after I sent it, she emailed me back to inform me that it was added to my file. 😕

Does Duke go down the line of when files were complete or do they jump around to top stats files first?

Just got an interview invite here!
Complete 7/18, LizzyM ~75. Will be here in mid-November, absolutely cannot wait!!

does the application status ever change after your file has been 'passed over' or will it just perpetually say "Your supplemental application has been completed. Your application is now being reviewed by a set of independent screeners on our admissions committee."? I submitted here about halfway through August.

Congrats! Was it an email invite and did you actually receive it today, a Saturday? Good luck.

Email invite, actually received today. Though maybe the invite was posted to the website earlier and the email was only just sent today - I hadn't checked any of the secondary websites in a while (~ a week or two).

I also received an interview invite today. I was a little surprised that it came on a Saturday. But nonetheless, ecstatic to be interviewing here. Scheduled for 10/31!

my heart kind of sinks every time I log in to the supp. app. i'm so scared to see a rejection.

Interview invite 9/26, probably going to schedule for 10/31
Completed whenever the first available date was!

Cannot begin to describe how I feel! I know it's not an acceptance, but I'm still in utter shock. Duke has been my dream school since I was a little kid 🙂

Although I'm just an interviewee, I really support what the earlier posters said about writing some solid essays. I think mine must have impressed them somehow because my 30 MCAT is definitely sub-par for Duke's standards. I thought there was a 0% chance of an interview. So for sure take advantage of that no character limit for people writing still and pump out your best work!

are you URM?

Asian actually 😛

AHAHAHA thank you!!!! Just cause someone got an II with a low gpa/mcat does not automatically mean they are URM.

Although I really hope your thinking is underrepresented in medicine yoyo.

When people ask "Are you a URM?" I don't think they mean to imply that they only got the II because they were a URM. It's more likely the person asking has similar stats so they want to see if the other person with the II is a URM or not to see how similar their applications are and may give them some hope with their lower scores.

Just submitted! This is my absolute top pick. Love duke!

Just received an interview invite! Complete mid-July, so I posted here to give some hope to those who have been complete a while. 🙂 Looks like there are still many interview dates open in November.
