I GOT IN!!! Just got the call an hour ago!!! I practically sobbed on the phone when Dr. Neumeyer said congratulations! I wish the rest of you the best of luck and I hope to see you guys in the fall!

I interviewed on 1/9 and stats are
34 MCAT 3.9 sGPA, 3.95 cGPA
 
ACCEPTED!! Just got the voicemail from Dr. Neumeyer because I was on a call for work. So excited right now! Congrats to everyone else accepted and good luck to everyone still waiting.

Interviewed 1/16. 35 MCAT, 3.68 sGPA, 3.62 cGPA.

Aww yay! Congrats to you! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. Praying I don't get the sad letter/email in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know how many people Tufts interviews and how many they end up accepting?

Would you mind sharing when you received an interview invite? I'm wondering if they're sending out any more.
 
Deferred via email this morning. VERY glad it's not a no! Going to be super optimistic and do whatever I can to turn it into a yes! :luck:

Last year they interviewed 975 or something like that and accepted 525 I believe. So a little over 1/2.

II sometime the first week of January. There were like 2 dates in February still open. Last time I checked the entire month of March was open too. So I think they are just being slow
Complete: late August

the deferred list didn't move at all last year. not a single spot.

one of the MS1s at my interview day said he got in from the deferred list... he was talking about how he was ready to head OOS before the acceptance
 
hmm.. i had a friend #3 on that list.. dean told him no movement. Tufts even offered housing for people to defer for a year b/c of over acceptance.

i could see that. i might have misunderstood the MS1, or maybe he got in off the list a prior year but deferred to start until this year. not sure
 
Dang. Well that's depressing. I'm already waitlisted at one school and now deferred at Tufts. Tufts is my favorite. :-/
I'll stay optimistic at least! I'm about to get published, finally, so maybe that update will help a little. Who knows.
 
If your stats are close, really like Tufts, and applying next cycle seems likely, I'd highly recommend looking into the Tufts MBS program. People find a lot of success with it.

I believe deferred and waitlist are two different things. Deferred means that that they have not made a final decision and will re-evaluate you before the end of the normal acceptance cycle and may be offered an open spot after all all the other interviews are done. Waitlist means you are offered a spot only if people choose not to attend. It's a subtle difference, but deferred is essentially a small step up from waitlist.

Oh, that makes sense. I know the email says its not a waitlist, but I thought that it was just their "nice way" of saying waitlist.
 
Has anyone who was complete in January (I know super late) received an II and if so, when?
 
My friend said they didn't tell him he was rejected last year until like the following August

If he was on the waitlist this makes sense. Technically the waitlist does not close until the first day of orientation. I believe there is someone from my year who was offered a spot a couple of days before orientation started which would have been in August.

Moral of the story is that it ain't over 'till it's over.

Yeah he wasn't though. He interviewed, but didn't hear from them after that.
 
Rejected post-interview by mail. It's okay. I definitely wasn't feeling the school and I believe that my interviews were pretty unfair. Plus the total cost of attendance is pretty insane compared to most other schools!

Dang. I'm sorry to hear that. That's really unfortunate that you thought the interviews were unfair. I really liked my interviews and thought they were straightforward and relaxed. However, if you didn't like the school and everything, I hope something else works out (or already has)!
 
Is Tufts still sending out interview invites?
 
Yes. II on Monday afternoon. Wondering what the chances are getting in at this point considering the fact that it's a rolling admission...
 
Interviewing second week of March! There were still a few March dates left when I looked this morning.

Thanks! I found out this morning via the status page, I did not receive an email notification (only email I got re: interview from Tufts was the confirmation of my selected date).

For me, there was a tab on the page saying "Boston Interview." On there I could select an interview slot.

It is still possible. At a different school, I interviewed in early March and was accepted a few weeks later, so don't give up.

Hi guys, I wanted to get your opinion on two school choices. I've been waitlisted at both and am thinking of sending in a LOI. The idea of committing (even without the acceptance lol) to one is putting me under pressure. I would really appreciate your honest thoughts!

Brown VS. Tufts

I know both are great schools that will offer great community & education. When thinking about them in terms of ranking (MSAR), I know that Brown is a bit higher up in the rank. But, I guess the TIMES higher education ranking says otherwise:http://www.timeshighereducation.co....-ranking/subject/clinical-pre-clinical-health

So instead of relying on numbers (which I really shouldn't in the first place..), I want to think about the two schools prospectively.. Any thoughts?

Do you mean that you're on the deferred list at Tufts? Or have they been wait listing people also

In your situation, I would go with Brown. It was my top OOS choice, moreso than Tufts for the following reasons:
- COA is much cheaper
- Often cited as having one of the best learning atmospheres of any med school (though, admittedly, I never had a chance to witness this first hand since I was rejected pre-interview)
- Location (Boston is awesome, but downtown Providence > Chinatown Boston imo)

Tufts is an excellent school and you would get a great education at either one, but from my perspective, the quality of life is better at Brown

I called myself trying to sweeten up someone in admissions up to see what the status of my application was and all she said was that the committee's decision was no decision . Fail . I guess it's not a rejection though 🙁

I like that -- "The committee has decided not to decide anything". If I'm right in assuming that this is pre-interview for you, I think I'm right there with you in that category. I wonder if we're going to be re-evaluated anytime soon or if they have plenty of people outright interviewed and on post-interview waitlists to make us a near-zero priority.
 
It seems a few IIs are still going out, so let's be optimistic that we are going to be evaluated or revaluated

My best advice to you is to think back to your interview day at both schools and ask yourself which you feel you picture yourself being happiest in. Just gut feeling, without considering location or cost, which one had students you connected with the most and really left you thinking "I belong here."

Now, if you really feel equally strong about both of them you can consider stuff like location and cost. On that front, I will say that Boston is a much more interesting city than Providence (especially for 4 years) and I would say Tufts wins hands down.
 
It's silly (and a bit telling) that your main concern is their respective "rankings".

Brown and Tufts are very different schools with different missions, philosophies, and environments. Basically, I agree with Chir0nex above. They're both great schools where you will get a top-notch education. Go with where you feel you will be a better fit -- this will mean a lot for the next few years of your life.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you applied to both of them because you thought they would be an equally good fit and not because they're ranked similarly.

Letters of interest are not binding. And it's my understanding that "letters of intent," which would be binding, are not really a thing. So I say, if you're interested in both schools, send LOIs to both! Right?

Letters of Intent are certainly a thing. I sent one to my top choice school recently.
 
Eh, I agree with the above poster that "intent" letters are not a thing. There's nothing to make them (legally) binding... so a school can choose to do what they will with them, but I don't think they'd have much of an effect (beyond a letter of "interest") at most schools.
