If you look back, someone accepted in the first batch interviewed Nov 4, so it might not be linear

I sent an update and received an interview less than a week later. Their secondary instructions explicitly say they take updates, so update away.
 
A wash u. acceptance would make studying for finals so much easier! One can only hope...
 
I'm done with my finals and have already started studying for the wintermester, but I wouldn't mind a WashU acceptance, either 🙂
 
Does anyone know if there have been ANY post interview rejections yet?

Last year, the second decision release was four weeks after the first. So I'm thinking it'll be next week which is four weeks from the last decision release.

According to some responses in this thread, status update + snail mail.
As far as I remember, rejections also come by snail mail... but later.

Plus some interviewers call you a day or two in advance. But this completely depends on the interviewer.

Wow, this is interesting. I guess they must really take the "your interviewer is your advocate" thing seriously.

Apparently, accepted students get a status update at midnight on Friday night. That would be 12:00 am central time.

Other updates (i.e., interview invite) can happen at any time I think.
 
Whoa I just got an interview invite!! I was definitely not expecting this after hearing nothing from them for so long so this was a really pleasant post-finals surprise! 🙂 Very convenient too, considering I live in St. Louis.

I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but do you think it's worth it to send an update with grades from this semester now?

Or should I wait until next week so I can express sadness if I do not get in on Friday? I assume they have already decided who will be in this round of acceptances.
 
I'm freaking out right now! Just got accepted! They sent an email this morning, and my status page has changed for those interested.

I thought WashU sent out acceptances via snail mail? In any case, I'm hoping that you're not trolling (and if so, congrats!) and that they've in fact changed it over to email.

Forgive my skepticism, but you have only posted 2 posts on SDN (prior to the one I'm responding to), one about an acceptance in this thread where people are anxiously anticipating the next batch of acceptances, and another about an II in the Penn thread where people are anxiously waiting for IIs. Both on the same day. It's such a great luck that it sounds suspicious, doesn't it? 🙂 Also, there've been cases of "premature acceptance" trolling (i.e. before the day acceptances were actually released).
But if what you have written is true, major congrats on both!

According to earlier acceptance reports in this thread, it was snail mail + status change, no email. But who knows, WashU could have started sending acceptances by email as well.

On a bit more seriously note though, there've been studies showing that people in a good mood are more likely to be creative and come up with new ideas, while people in a bad mood are more likely to pay attention to details and make connections between them. Well, I'm in a pretty bad mood today :laugh:
 
I interviewed on 10/24. Yeah I know it sounds really suspicious; I questioned whether to even post, but I wanted to stop lurking.

The email I got was very short, only saying that the official notification was in the mail and to contact them if it didn't come. It's been a ridiculous day though.

fwiw, they do send an email - I only got mine about 3-4 days after the status change though (the snail mail even came first, haha). petabread's description of the email (brief, 1-2 lines) is accurate.

That's so interesting. They much have changed their notification of acceptance mechanism from previous years. Anyone with inside information (ahem ksmi117) care to comment?

Maybe this means acceptances went out last weekend...since petabread got his/her email yesterday, perhaps his/her status changed last weekend but (s)he didn't realize?

On another note, I do have questions about grade updates. What is the typical protocol for sending these? Thanks!

accepted via status change! no email (yet?). interviewed early Oct. I'm fairly sure the status change was on Friday since I checked earlier in the week, and it wasn't changed then.
 
ACCEPTED!!! Not sure if I'm dreaming. Feels too good to be true. I'm super scared that they've made a mistake lol. Checked status online just now and saw the congratulations message, but no email/snail mail yet. No idea when status changed (haven't checked it in a week or so). Interviewed early Oct. I hope they're not pulling my leg, cause I'm putting down that deposit right away!

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. They had sent the snail mail letter on Friday but my apartment office had misplaced it, so the first I heard was from the reminder email.

As far as the grade updates go, what I've heard is that if it significantly improves your gpa then you should notify them, perhaps with other updates/an interest message as well.

Also, congrats to everyone who was accepted today!
 
Accepted!! Just saw my status change. Nov 25 interview.
