For those of you who interviewed at CCLCM, any advice? I am interviewing there next week and am pretty clueless about what to expect haha. I have simply heard that the interviews are tough. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

My advice after interviewing this past week is know your application inside-out. Outside of typical motivation and behavioral questions, I had the opportunity to touch upon every activity I listed. I suggest looking at their program, think about the type of people they're recruiting, and simply showcase yourself. As for the morning, just relax, enjoy the tours and small group activity. I felt the small group activity was a definite highlight of the day 🙂

On another note, the program is so unique and awesome! CCLCM goes to the top of my list of medical schools!

I'm interviewing here soon for UT. is there a lot of time outside for the tour on the interview day? debating whether i need to buy a warmer/nicer coat for over my suit.

It was snowing on my interview day, so maybe they were more accommodating than if it's simply cold outside, but they conducted the tour through underground tunnels such that we didn't have to go outside at all.

I agree. I interviewed in October, when it was raining etc., and we did our tour through the underground tunnel system as well.

Another agreement here! I interviewed in September and it was warm and we still did the tunnels. You are safe!

I have been "submitted including payment" since 9/24. I have not been placed on hold or anything and I was wondering if this is unusual considering how long ago I submitted my app. Any chance for an interview still? Thanks in advance!

@srirachaking I think this is the last week for CT interviews but UT interviews until the end of February, for what that's worth.

Wow, congrats! Crazy timing.

You're telling me! Just when I was thinking I was out of the running here.

In case this is useful to anyone it looked like they are still interviewing almost every mwf starting next wednesday and ending at the end of the month. The majority of the dates seemed to be available when I scheduled mine

II today.
GPA 3.7, Science GPA 3.87, MCAT 33
I feel like I don't really have a good chance of getting accepted, but I guess I'll go...
Hey, @MockaFlocka! Congratulations! But. . .do you need a pep talk? Don't interview with an Eeyore attitude! (Well, I guess Winnie-the-Pooh isn't good because of the Very Little Brain thing, and Piglet suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Tigger is WAY too bouncy and extroverted. Wol can't spell, but he passes for wise, so I guess that he would be okay. Kanga would be a great pediatrician. Rabbit would get in anywhere, thanks to nepotism--all those friends and relations. ) But go in like Christopher Robin, like you own the whole Hundred Acre Wood. Cleveland Rocks. Rock the interview!!

Did anyone who interview in Jan hear back? Thank you!

Just got an II today for UT-- dates available throughout February!

Any tips/ advice for the interview are greatly appreciated! Does anyone know what percent of interviewees get acceptance offers?
Accepted here earlier this month. One thing that isn't so obvious is the degree to which Case pushes its IQ curriculum (read through this carefully and internalize it). I honestly went in thinking it would be a huge research school. However, every single student and faculty I met at the interview day sang the praises of small PBL group work. They let you sit in on a session and talk about the advantages over a traditional curriculum, like how you get a ton of free time for self directed learning (only a few hours of required class a week and Thursdays off, for example). If you have any activities that involve communication and teamwork, it would do you well to emphasize those. Teaching experience adds a lot of brownie points, I think.

Overall, the interviews are very on par with other schools, but your mileage may vary. You discuss anything that the interviewer feels like talking about. For example, my first interviewer had me monologue about my life from preschool to college with hardly any input. My student interviewer was the complete opposite. So, who knows what you will get. The other interviewees seemed to get the normal experience.

As for acceptance percent, I've been told that Case takes about 40% or mid-high 30%s at worst. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

CCLCM "High hold list" message today! I'll take that as a small victory.

+1, although mine just said "Hold." Yours said "High Hold?" The continued waiting in this process is killing me.

Also, if there is a difference between Hold and High Hold I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows if people ever get off just the Hold list. I'd like to have a better idea where I stand so I an move forward.

Kinda bummed about the boot here. I think it would have been a good fit. I had a low GPA for them, in range MCAT, and pubs and research via updates. Oh well.

Is that like taking a big puff and holding it in longer?

I got a regular old "Hold" too :/

Ok -- my guess is that you guys are in line to be accepted, but who knows 🙂

I think that's just because your application wasn't reviewed for the first batch of acceptances.

I was thinking this too. Has anyone who interviewed after the cutoff date for the first batch (I think it was around dec 10th?) heard anything?

Yeah, my instinct is that I don't think you should be worried about not hearing back so far. At least it's just a few more weeks until the next batch of acceptances. We won't have to wait too long. I think.

Not looking so positive for BengaliBrat. Must be I'm meant to study elsewhere. When I said "Hold me" to CCLCM, I meant "Envelop me in a warm embrace and don't let me go." I think that there has been some kind of misunderstanding. Sigh.

Has anybody gotten a decision from University track recently? According to their tweets, they reviewed my interview day and others (1/9-1/21) at the 1/26 adcom meeting, and they're reviewing the next group of interviewees (1/23-2/4) on Monday, but I haven't heard anything yet.

I was 1/9, but have not heard anything either.

Awwww 🙁 I'm sorry to hear that!!! I'm hoping you get some well deserved love elsewhere soon 🙂

I believe decisions are released 2-3 weeks after the committee review, so you may hear something this upcoming week. Good luck!

Just a thought: I think it'd be easier if next year, CCLCM and Case had separate threads. Sifting through posts trying to determine which ones apply to UT vs CT is tough! Is there a reason why they've never been independent threads?

"High hold" means you have a very good chance to be ranked #17-32. It will come down to the excellent quality of the pool that will be reviewed on 2/24. Even if you are on "hold" you still have a chance. As long as you're not rejected by 2/24, there is still a ray of hope. It will prob take 5-7 days after that that the next 16 will hear of their acceptance. Afterwards, a waiting list is generated. As I stated in my earlier post, 40-44 are accepted to fill a class of 32. Please stay positive and good luck to all.

Thanks! You've been really helpful. Out of curiosity, do you know when second look would be? Is it the same weekend as Case?

Wait, so high hold can mean you are still in the initial 32 acceptances? I assumed it was more of a waitlist.

Let me clarify some things about the CT program. 16 acceptances have already been offered/notified. Interviews are ending by the first week of February. On or about 2/24, #17-32 will be ranked from all candidates that have not been rejected to this point. Shortly after that date, the next round of 16 acceptances will be notified. If you are not in the top 32, you will be rejected or put on a waitlist (likely ranked as well, 33, 34, 35...etc). I don't think that they will tell you where you are ranked. However, about 8-12 from the waitlist will get accepted. As I stated earlier about 40-44 acceptances are offered each year to fill a class of 32. Best of luck to everyone. As long as your file is open and you have not been rejected by 2/24, you still have a shot. Stay positive and keep your hopes up.

After some searching, I assume your response won't be any different than this one! The hope continues!

My understanding/guess is that for people who were evaluated for the first batch of acceptances, they were all ranked. People ranked 1-16 were accepted. People who were ranked 17-32 were given a "high hold", and the rest were placed on "hold" unless they were rejected. Around 2/24, they will re-evaluated everyone who is still in the pool, including people who weren't evaluated during the first evaluation and those from the first evaluation who weren't accepted or rejected. Only after this second evaluation will a true wait list be made.

So I think the likelihood of people being accepted from the high hold and hold list will depend on the quality of applicants that have recently been interviewed, and were not evaluated for the first batch of acceptances.

So, TL;DR, the hold lists aren't really waiting lists. They give you an idea of where you are ranked for the next batch of acceptances, but only based off of the first pool of applicants evaluated back in December.

re lurklark's post -- This is not entirely correct. At this point, a "high hold" is better than a "hold." It also doesn't matter if you were ranked #17 or #18 in the first half. All candidates, whose files are still open, will be ranked #17-32 for the second round of 16 acceptances. This will take place on or about 2/24. I suspect if there are more than 25-30 current or active "high holds," then a "hold" is a bad prognostic sign of aceptance to CCLCM. As I wrote earlier, if you are not in the top 32 (initial acceptance class), you will be rejected or put on a waitlist (likely ranked as well, 33, 34, 35...etc). About 8-12 are accepted off this waitlist to fill the CCLCM class of 32. A very, very strong group of excellent applicants interviewed after the first 16 acceptances were notified. This could be the toughest committee ranking meeting ever in history of CCLCM.
