2014-2015 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is there any point in time that they will accept updates? Perhaps after April 30th. Just checking and thanks!

Just got accepted today—my first acceptance!!! Happiest day of my life. I cried when I read the email and wore those tears proudly. Good luck to everyone else! I interviewed 3/6 if anyone is curious, so it took them 5 weeks exactly.

Does anyone know if students at Rosalind rotate through academic hospitals??? Thank you!!

You can as a 4th year, and as a research extern. 3rd year clerkship sites can be found on the website (sorry, my internet connection sucks right now)

For anyone curious about the on campus housing, they've started the lottery now. If you don't get a message by the end of April, you should be looking for other housing- this is what I've heard on the facebook page.

Does anyone interviewing on April 24 want to split a cab from the airport on Thursday around 2:30pm? PM me!

Edit: I'll be staying at the Courtyard Marriott

I live somewhat locally, otherwise I'd help you out. If you're doing the early slot on the 24th, see you then! If not, good luck anyway!!!

It depends on you, but there is an office that specifically helps you find research if you want. I personally found a position quite easily (I just emailed them and they said "sure!") but although that kind of thing isn't guaranteed it isn't unusual, either. I am actually writing from a national meeting (the second the school has paid for) so I can say that you can publish and present multiple times. 3 years of participation can be hard (time management) but it can be done

To those who have been accepted: how long after you accepted and submitted your deposit did it take for the school to email you other information? I accepted like 2 weeks ago and all I got was a confirmation that they received my deposit and that more information would be sent to me shortly...

Thanks!

I really thought there would be waitlist movement before May :arghh:

They made it seem like their waitlist moved fluidly throughout the cycle 🙁

Though if they are still interviewing then they must have their hands pretty full evaluating new applicants. They'll do it soon I'm sure.

Just want to say it was a pleasure to meet everyone during the April 24 interview. I have no doubt in my mind that the folks I met, and surely those I didn't meet from previous interview dates/the application process in general, are deserving of a spot in med school, which is why this entire process is so frustrating... Soooo many wonderful premeds!! Ahh!

Has anyone heard from fin aid or received their financial aid packages yet?

I emailed the financial aid office and asked about this because I filled out my application awhile ago. I was told that they start processing apps in May and will send out packages in early June.

lol.. received an invitation to apply to their SMP program

Anyone else from the 4/15 interview group hear back today? Just got message that I'm on the alternate list...

Did your email explicitly state that you are on the alternate list? I interviewed on 3/30 and received an email today stating something about being put on hold for a decision (neither acceptance nor rejection). Anyone else receive this e-mail?

Yeah, I actually received the "hold" email and just assumed that this meant waitlisted. Hopefully?

The email I got specifically said alternate list, though this hold is probably for a decision, perhaps to wait until the 30th deadline. So I think you may still be awaiting a decision. Like an acceptance or waitlist or otherwise. Interviewed in February if that makes any difference

Mine also specifically stated "alternate list." Not sure if this is more or less encouraging than a hold. Good luck to all!

A hold is not the same as alternate.

Hold just means they haven't made a decision (one way or another) yet.

Anyone know whether it's acceptable to send letters of interest/extra LORs post interview but pre-adcom decision? Or is it more something you'd do if you get waitlisted? Pardon my ignorance... also I'm ridiculously antsy. Blerg!

As far as I am aware, they do not accept any information after your interview unless it has to do with legal actions and whatnot. But they are pretty good at responding to their email if you want to make 100% sure

I just tried to send a letter of interest--they are still not accepting any other letters:

"Unfortunately, as a matter of policy and out of fairness to all our applicants, we are unable to accept additional letters of recommendation or updates to applications except for those pertaining to medical school matriculation, institutional actions, misdemeanors, felonies or military discharge. We appreciate your continued interest in the Chicago Medical School at RFUMS."

for those of you withdrew prior to 4/30, any of you get your deposit back yet?

Did the secondary ask us what classes we would be taking in the future?
