2014-2015 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey SDN'ers, how long did it take from submitting the secondary to receiving a complete email? I'm sure this answer is scattered throughout the thread, but I was hoping someone could give a quick, rough estimate. Thanks!

submitted secondary 8/17, complete email 9/12 (around 1 month seems to be the common answer)

Rejection. Completed early July, IS, small pooled 8/5, Lizzy M ~66. This was the second rejection I received today, so I feel a little bummed out. I really thought I had a shot here...sad day 🙁 Good luck to everyone else!!

you and i both...

If I was complete mid July like around the 15th or so, and I still haven't heard anything either small pool or rejection, am I still even in the running or should I call and ask for an update? It looks like people were at least small pooled from around my completion date, so I am a little curious. Thanks!

Where is this listed? I looked through my emails, MSAR and website and don't see anything about MMI. Not saying I don't believe it, I'm just asking for a source.

I'm a student in the BMS program here. It's MMI. 5 minutes in each room, 8 interviews. The school switched over to MMI this year, and they are happier with it.

Just drowned in the small pool.

This is rejection #4, still without an II. Really wondering what the hell I did wrong...

Anybody else complete around 7/28 and not received any correspondence whatsoever from them...I feel like I should have at least gotten through the primary screening and small pooled by now....

Rejected 9/23/2014. Complete 7/18. OOS 3.63c/3.57s/32 Non-Traditional. Good luck everyone!

Could anyone give me the wording of the small pool email? Will they blatantly say they've placed you into pool for consideration?

Rejected from small pool today too. International LM ~75, complete early July.

+1 in all aspects of your post (small pool rejection, rejection #4, still no ii).

I see you're an international applicant too, don't lose hope! RFU's international acceptance rates have been low for internationals these past 2 years.

Just finished interviewing here this afternoon. Really friendly staff. MMI not bad at all. However I just found out they are on LCME probation - I wish I'd known that before I scheduled my interview.

The probationary status isn't for anything significant. The full details are available on the school's website.
Also worth noting is that the match lists haven't been affected by this at all. This years match was pretty great.

I submitted my secondary application on August 21st. I finally received the 'Complete' email today (September 24th).
let the wait begin....................... and by the way, it seems like you don't have to be small pooled to receive an II right?

Current M1 here at RFU. I moved here from a big city and a big top 20 undergrad state school. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I have mostly good things to say about this place, and a few constructive criticisms.

Regrets. Complete 7/10, Primary Screen Complete E-mail 8/21. LizzyM ~71. Canadian.....

i got this email now. Is this hold? has anyone got this email and eventually get small pool and II? I got complete email 7/28 after submitting secondary on 7/13 or so.

There are only two schools on probation... this happens to be one of them. RED FLAGS. Second time in 10 years they have been placed on probation. It is not a common occurrence. Plus, it is definitely not insignificant when you read why; especially regarding thousands of dollars of your own money.

It looks like there are 3 schools in the US on LCME probation. CMS, Baylor (surprising), and U of Louisville

I looked through their website, but I can't tell exactly why they are on probation? It is nice they have all the info on their website and are being upfront about it, I just couldn't figure out what the root of the problem is.

It's minor things like not having enough lockers for students, administrative issues (saying what each member's role is etc), course syllabus changes and so on and so forth. It's really not bad at all. I interviewed here and loved it.

Awesome thanks @IL Pre Med ! Doesn't seem like those issues are a big deal at all.

@jncz yep I got the same email this am. Submitted back in mid July and hadn't heard anything since, until today

@jncz i believe he/she meant the "hold" email from above, not concerning the LCME probation

I got this "Thank you for your interest" email too. I took it as a hold, but would welcome news of anyone who got this email and went on to get some good news.

Hi Guys! I'm interviewing here in less than 2 weeks. Is there anyone who interviewed on the 24th who's willing to share their experience? First MMI, so, a bit apprehensive about this one.

see post 368 (I think - or something close to that) and then read the conversation immediately before and immediately after that post. Seems that the primary screening email is a different form of the small pool email. Additionally, in a previous post, a current student stated that they don't do holds. Hope this helps!!
Also, I got the primary screening email in the middle of August and haven't heard anything since so I don't think it really means a whole lot.

@Ruby109 you are amazing.

I fly in on the morning of the 19th, but perhaps we'll meet at the interview if you're in the morning session!
I'm flying in on the 19th in the morning, too. Are you arriving at O'Hare because I'd share a taxi with you

As is my custom, I'd like to encourage you to ignore all communication from the school pre-interview with the sole exception of interview invitations. An interview invitation is literally the only communication that matters.

I'm a current third year, so feel free to punt any questions my way or to the other students in this thread. I'm not on the admissions committee and I have no idea what they're looking for in the interview, but I'm happy to answer your questions about academics, clinical rotations, or anything else you can think of.

Just one note, though: asking me what my favorite and least favorite parts of the school are might not be too productive. ;-)

They make you sign a confidentiality agreement when you are there so unfortunately I won't be able to disclose much. But just relax and don't stress out like I did in the parking lot 15 minutes before you are supposed to walk in. It really is a great school and everyone I met was extremely friendly and you can tell they want the best for their students. I would go there in a heartbeat if I got accepted. Counting down until 10/15! 🙂
