No, it isn't my surname. It's my old middle name that my parents legally changed to another one when I was a kid. Is there a way to change my SDN UN though?I'd also refrain from having my SDN username and FB username from matching... hopefully it's not your surname.
That's reassuring/encouraging to hear! I'm obviously not going to get my hopes up for an interview with Dartmouth at this point but I'm not going to completely give up the application either.Yeah there's honestly no point in withdrawing. That's completely getting rid of any chance for an II. There's even been people on SDN who have said they wrote the wrong school name by accident and were still accepted to the school they messed up the secondary for. Stay in the running and good luck!
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I understand where you're coming from and I agree the mistake was careless, but people have differing opinions on what they consider to be unacceptable. I think this is a case where if I'm really lucky, it may be overlooked by a sympathetic adcom... If not, they can just put me in the reject pile and I'll sleep better at night knowing I gave it a shot.Because that mistake comes across as careless - and even if you 'miss-typed', most will assume you actually copy+paste'd the essay. I believe this has been re-iterated multiple times by the likes of @Goro and @gyngyn
I only suggested that I would withdrawn my application because it would help me sleep better at night.
Edit: My initial post does not imply repercussions or blacklisting, nor was I trying to spook you. I was merely suggesting that withdrawing at this point is more of a professional courtesy.
