LGA isn't the best of airports to fly out of. I would go JFK for sure.
Booked everything for interview weekend, maybe helpful for others from my experience trying to find the cheapest option- LGA and JFK aren't that far apart and if you need to rent a car (I'm making a weekend out of this), the car rentals from JFK are extraordinarily cheaper than renting from LGA
Did everyone who got an II write about primary care?
Congrats!!! LizzyM/complete date?
For the Courses section, it has a check box with "lab?" Does that mean that the course I entered is a lab or that the course I enter has a lab component included?
I checked the box in both scenarios. (The orgo lab at my school is separate from the lectures.)For the Courses section, it has a check box with "lab?" Does that mean that the course I entered is a lab or that the course I enter has a lab component included?
How late will the interview day go? I read that we can expect to be on campus for 6 hours. If the interview day starts at 11, that means we won't be done by 5 at earliest. If I buy my flight that leaves from Bradley at 7:21, will I be able to return my rental car and get to the flight on time? Apparently, it takes 50 minutes to drive to Bradley from the Quinnipiac campus. Factoring in traffic, it will take at least an hour and most likely longer than that. So if I leave at 5, I won't get to Bradley until 6:30 at earliest. I guess the 7:21 flight won't work. That's the only flight from Bradley that leaves the day after my interview date, though, and I really don't want to spend another night. Looks like I will most likely have to stay another night if I fly into Bradley. 🙁
EDIT: So it looks like I have two options. Stay an extra night and leave the next day, or get a 5:00 AM flight for the day after and hang out at the airport for the night to save $100 bucks on the hotel.
I personally decided to stay an extra night at my hotel. Figured the stress of worrying about an evening flight wasn't worth trying to save money. Why are flights out of Bradley so limited D:
EDIT: For your second post, it looks like CT Limo doesn't go to Clarion Hotel or even to Hamden; the interview info page seems to imply this as well.
Same day as me! 🙂Complete 7/8, LizzyM of 69, will be interviewing on 9/14!
dittoThat's roughly my LizzyM, and I seem to have been in the first batch of IIs. It's too early in the cycle to give up hope!

I looked it up, but still not sure what the distinction between job title and occupation is. Thoughts? Thanks!

I really don't think that is the case. Being out of school for years is really becoming the norm.Yea, but from these last 2 rejections I've already gotten, I'm getting the feeling that MD schools blacklist non-traditional applicants like myself. I've been out of school for 3 years. Had I known this was the case, I would have not even submitted an AMCAS.

Yes but one reject was from mayo, which is a real quirky school. Lots of time and if you have the life experience and competitive stats you will do fine.I'm not optimistic, but we'll see I guess.

mayo? hmm. I didnt apply to mayo, I have no chance there. No I was rejected from Western Virginia MD school, and will probably get rejected from VCU from the looks of their status update on my secondary portal.
Also most likely get rejected from here as well. Well I have life experiences as I have been out of school 3 years for reasons out of my control. Competitive stats meh... i have a 29 and a cgpa/sgpa approaching a 3.8/3.7.
So yea, not looking too good.

Have you looked into Brown? They LOVE non-trads with a good story.
Don't be so pessimistic! The cycle just started. West Virginia and VCU are both public schools, so they favor IS students. VCU looks at applications before sending secondaries and is the one school I applied to that screened me out pre-secondary, but I already have one MD II. The fact that you made it past their screen means that you're doing fine
Rejections are very much subjective. There are thousands of other people vying for the same spots. They can see you as a fantastic future physician, but choose someone else with the same stats and a closer fit to the student they are looking for. And you can't let your emotions get the best of you- as a doctor you'll have a lot of situations where leading with your emotions will cause damage. It's out of your hands now; all you can do now is wait and be confident in what you've accomplished and will accomplish!
And, just an observation, but you talk about being a non-trad student as if it is a barrier that you will need to overcome. When you write about it/go to interviews, don't be apologetic. Talk about why you took those years off and how that will make you a better doctor and how you've grown from the experiences. If you simply say "Even though I haven't been in school for three years, I'm ready to transition to med school" being a non-trad could hurt you. But if you talk about how much you've developed and gained a greater appreciation for medicine during those years, it will most likely not hurt you and could very likely help.

Been out for three years now also and believe my maturity and life experience will help me out significantly. Go non trads!By the time I matriculate into med school, I'll have been out of school for 3 years. These gaps years have been absolutely huge in terms of getting more clinical experience, more maturity, and really exploring why I want to be a doctor. I wouldn't trade that for a more "traditional" application. I'm sorry that you've been rejected from schools already, but it is so early in the cycle, and I hate to see someone with such a defeatist attitude at this point in the game. Your GPAs are way better than mine, and I got 3 interviews in my first go at applying to med school (no acceptances though obviously heh). So long as you've applied broadly and to as many schools as possible, I think you will be okay 🙂 Good luck!
Hey guys sorry if it was already answered but has anyone gotten an interview yet? also is it a good sign if you got a secondary? Thanks! Good luck to all of you!

I looked on the first page and it looks like its a numeric screen for secondaries here.Several people have been getting interviews since 7/20. Quinnipiac does screen for secondaries, at least according to the MSAR. I don't know what their criteria are, but it is a good sign if you got a secondary!
Yeah I was complete on 7/11 and I haven't heard anything either
I'm a traditional applicant. But I'll also be doing an SMP program this year so maybe they'll wait to see how that goes before deciding to offer me an interview or reject me
Yeah it's awful, especially hearing about all these people getting IIs
It is a waiting game! Don't think the worst yet. It is still really, really early.Yea...I"m attempting to make peace and preparing my mind for the worst scenario.
