What exactly does it mean when a school defers you?
According to previous threads, a deferred decision will turn into either a waitlist or rejection in April. What exactly does it mean when a school defers you?
I could be wrong then! Lol, my info is anecdotal.According to previous threads, a deferred decision will turn into either a waitlist or rejection in April.
This is correct. Happened to me last year.According to previous threads, a deferred decision will turn into either a waitlist or rejection in April.
Oh wow, so it's worse than a waitlist but better than a rejection?According to previous threads, a deferred decision will turn into either a waitlist or rejection in April.
I'm starting to wonder that about every school..why does this school hate me
Anyone October interviewees still waiting for a decision?
They don't reject until spring. Maybe they haven't reviewed your app yet?Yes me! Interviewed 10/20. Does this mean I'm getting rejected?

Oh, well then you'll probably hear soon!Oh ok thanks! Hmm will they be sending deferrals/acceptances the remainder of the week then? They told us on interview day that we would get news the first week of November
No. Even though they say you'll hear X week, it's sometimes off for candidates if their interviewer can't make that meeting. Happened to someone I interviewed with last year. Head up! No news is no news until you hear news.Yes me! Interviewed 10/20. Does this mean I'm getting rejected?
Got the call yesterday and completely flipped out at work!!! heheh
Ok so this is going to be a weird post. I interviewed 2 weeks ago, got accepted 2 days ago. I have yet to send thank you cards. Would it be weird to send thank you cards after getting in?
Congrats. Courtesy is never weird. I think sending them a thank you card is even more appropriate now. You obviously impressed them and they advocated for you.Ok so this is going to be a weird post. Congrats on Acceptance. I don't think it is weird to reinforce your appreciation for their time and then also admire that you got into their program. However, I also don't think that it is necessary or even expected.
OK I will send the cards then! I know it's not necessary but it's still a nice thing to do. 🙂Congrats. Courtesy is never weird. I think sending them a thank you card is even more appropriate now. You obviously impressed them and they advocated for you.
When did you interview? So I haven't received an acceptance call or deferment email.Does this mean a rejection?
It's also possible that your interviewers or whoever makes the decision missed Tuesday's meeting. Maybe?early October
When exactly in July were you complete? Also, do you guys think it's okay to call admissions to ask for a status update ? I've been complete since late July and heads nothing
If you want to reach out, I think the better option is to do so in the context of an LOI or Update. It's been almost 4 months for you so it wouldn't be seen as odd to follow up and re-express interest. When exactly in July were you complete? With regard to updates, letters of interest, and letters of intent... I've been following the advice in this guide from John Hopkins http://web.jhu.edu/prepro/Forms/Guide.Four.updated MASTER.pdf
They have a section explaining what and when to send things to schools, very helpful.
lol what? I interviewed here this cycle is it was the most laid back, normal interview. For people who haven't interviewed, I suggest you read the SDN school feedback. For those who have not yet interviewed - I have many friends and TUSM and they all say to be prepared for a fairly strange interview with a lot of difficult and bizarre questions. Very friendly people, but they aren't there to screw around.

Yeah mine were definitely odd. Especially the first one. I thought it went pretty poorly because my interviewer kept cutting me off and asking more and more questions and it was confusing.Hm interesting. The people I know interviews 3-5 years ago, but they were all asked intimate family questions and intense philosophical ones.
if it means anything, I have several friends who are currently tufts med students who applied in July/August, didn't receive IIs until jan/feb, and were still accepted later in the cycle. I definitely wouldn't panic quite yet, schools can have a weird way of reviewing apps!Any rejects pre-interview from tufts yet? Applied mid august and haven't heard anything, just wondering if I should prepare for a rejection from here.
Wasn't true last year, at least from my interviewers. Also, it's illegal for them to ask intimate family question.....Hm interesting. The people I know interviews 3-5 years ago, but they were all asked intimate family questions and intense philosophical ones.
They don't send out pre-ii rejections until the end of the cycle.Any rejects pre-interview from tufts yet? Applied mid august and haven't heard anything, just wondering if I should prepare for a rejection from here.
+2. Super normal and laid back interviews, very conversational. Maine track on the other hand was a handful with the MMI format but still laid back relative to some of the other MMI stories I've heard.lol what? Only if you've already been offered an II. Other than that they will just politely tell you they don't accept them.Is Tufts response to ITA emails? From their FAQ, it seems they are not, but have they been accommodating in anyone's experience? Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much! This is really helpful actually since I was thinking about itOnly if you've already been offered an II. Other than that they will just politely tell you they don't accept them.
For those who have interviewed, did you mail in thank you letters? Forgot to ask my interviewers for their emails and since both of them were clinicians, it's proving hard to find them.

This^At the bottom of the interviewer's bio (the ones you received packet) there is a blurb about how you should address letters. I mailed mine to those addresses.

Anyone else completed back in July still waiting to hear back? I have heard nothing from them. No Reject, No II, Nada.
