So reading all this, here are my quick thoughts:
1)
@limeindacoconut good on you for realizing it, notifying it, and not taking advantage of it
2) Everyone is making wild accusations about the very small sample of "data" that was uncovered without any context. Over half of the schools I applied to used this same program for applications (Tufts, Keck, Tulane, Maryland, etc), and all the schools employed it to varying degrees. So yes, it's rationally irrational to assume that they haven't reviewed 4,000+ applicants. Or it simply means that within the portal they use to aggregate and communicate with applicants, they haven't updated it to reflect final decisions.
3) The majority of schools don't effectively pre-screen applicants (using a wholistic review). There is usually a 10-15% drop off from applicants completing primaries to those completing secondaries. It's usually not worth the time. And even those that do screen, it's normally MCATs below 24 or s**t like that. They aren't getting into Personal Statements and ECs.
4) Anyone with MSAR or USNews knows that Tufts over the last half decade has been one of the top 10 most applied to med schools in the country. You know going in that the odds of a II is already lower than a lot of other schools. You should also realize that it could take a while for them to make a final decision. Couldn't it also be possible that somewhere in that 4,000+ are 200 applicants with a 3.6/508 that they don't want to reject but are trying to figure out who to interview?
5) Tufts has egg on their face for sure, but was it really their fault? We all know technology can be glitchy and this time it bit them in the ass. Lime pulled back the curtain and saw that it was John Matias pulling the strings. Just realize, it could have been much worse. Imagine if it granted everyone II's and then they had to go back and rescind everything....
