2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was complete 8/12. I haven't heard a peep from the admissions committee

Rejected today. This really hurts; 31/3.6 former Tulane Undergrad and currently on my masters at Tulane as well.
That sucks man, did you put an app into LSU Nola? They don't take many OOS students but since you've been here and you're above their MCAT average you have a decent shot at it.

Yup, I'm waiting for an interview invite from them since after today, they're now pretty much my #1 but I was really hoping that Tulane would at least defer me until after they saw my post-semester grades in their grad program. Well congrats to all of you who got accepted, you really will enjoy this place as much as I have; and for the rest, I hope you guys hear some great news because I really do not want anyone to go through what I just did but it really goes to show that you can't be overconfident and just brace yourself for the worst.

I'm not local. What's your theory? Maybe it can help explain why I haven't heard from some of my local schools yet.
I grew up in just outside of New Orleans. I lived there for my entire childhood. My stats are low for them and yet I haven't been rejected yet. I have a theory that it is because I am a local. Maybe, they don't want to do anything with my application because they have a big emphasis on locals at Tulane. Maybe they liked my application but not enough...yet.

I hope you're right. Good luck. I was kind of thinking the same thing about myself regarding my local schools.

There may be some validity to a slight local bias. I was encouraged to apply, and was ultimately admitted, with a lower than average MCAT. Though out of state, I was raised all over southeast Louisiana and have a commitment to its people.

I interviewed in mid-late September and haven't seen any decision yet. No email and the portal is still stuck on the "interview scheduled on x" status. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm getting concerned since people who have interviewed almost 2 weeks later (10/5) have received acceptances. Does Tulane email post-interview rejections/change status to rejected, or send snail mail?

same here... Interviewed around the same time and still haven't heard anything back.

From what I've read on previous years threads, it seems that each individual's application is reviewed by a subcommittee of 3 people. Once a decision is reached, it is communicated via email. That being said, I wouldn't stress too much, maybe your committee hasn't reviewed applications yet...

I hope so. But does anyone have any insight on how post-interview rejections are communicated? Reason I'm paranoid is that I'm currently away from my house for several months and won't be able to check paper mail until I get back. It would be a huge relief to know that I'm not rejected unless I receive a rejection email/portal change. The way I feel now, I may already have been rejected and just not know it.🤔

Hi everyone, quick question: when you upload a document, are you able to see it on the portal? I know this question might not concern many of you.

hum... I tried to upload it twice and nothing happens lol. I'll just e-mail them tomorrow morning. thanks though !!

Congrats to all of you recently accepted at Tulane!

I got an interview invite from Tulane in early August, but the earliest interview slot available was in December. Will I be at a significant disadvantage because I am interviewing so late, even though I was invited to interview in August?

Hopefully they don't fill the ~200ish spots before December. But at least you got an interview!

I am in the same situation but looking at old threads and what has been previously mentioned on this one, many people get accepted when they interview in December and even in January/February so I don't think that will hurt us at all

I am concerned because I keep reading that people who interview in the new year are interviewing for spots on the waitlist, and December is not much earlier than January. I already have an acceptance at a school I would be happy to go to, so I'm wondering if it is even worth it to fly out to NO to interview if I'm just competing for a spot on the waitlist!

There is no disadvantage to interviewing later. Many of the students in my class including me interviewed in late January. You are not interviewing for the waitlist., one person in my class got her acceptance a week after her interview and she interviewed at the end of January. Don't feel like you are at a disadvantage!

did they notify you by email or phone call?
By email. Multiple lol. One saying I was accepted, more info to follow, the next saying I was accepted again with "more info", and a third with scholarship stuff. All sent within a few minutes of each other.

Rejected from Tulane ~ 2 or 3 weeks ago. Complete 8/19. Not really sure where I went wrong, tbh.

Does anyone know whether Tulane communicates post-interview rejections solely by snail mail, or do they send an email as well?

I can't remember where I heard it from, might have been a previous thread, but something someone said somewhere gave me the impression that Tulane doesn't do post-interview rejections, just wait listed and accepted. Sorry if that's not very helpful

Accepted! Bam! I think this is the hardest thing I will ever end up doing in my whole life. If getting into medical school was a football game, there was a point there where my chances were no better than being down 3 scores in the 4th quarter. Yes!

Congrats! such an awesome place to be! when did you interview? and is it an early morning email? (im on east coast)

Are you waiting for your decision to come out too? Because I am and I'm pretty much losing whatever precious little sanity I had managed to retain up to this point. I now find myself just staring at my inbox, oblivious to anything else in time and space, for stretches of time vaster than the glorious cosmos themselves. Then, I take a five minute bathroom break, hit refresh, and begin anew.
