2015-2016 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

+3 on this message. Was it sent to everyone who hasn't interviewed (and has no dean cert) or should we rush to get it done haha
+4.

@bearintraining seems to be on the right track, in that since it's so late in the cycle, they want to make sure that anyone being considered for an interview still has all their paperwork in first. Probably doesn't mean any of us will automatically get an II, but perhaps we're still in consideration?

Time to hop over to my college advising office I guess....

Actually, maybe they do want the Dean's cert just to reject us.....

Step 3. Print Dean's Certification
CERTIFICATION BY CURRENT DEAN OF STUDENTS:
Certification form(s) must be submitted on your behalf by an official at each undergraduate or graduate institution listed on your AMCAS Application from which you have received or expect to receive a degree in addition to any other school in which you were enrolled and were involved in a disciplinary or institutional action.

Print the form, complete the information applicant identifying information, check the waiver statement and sign. Then deliver the form to the appropriate institutional official(s) that you indicated on the Supplemental Application. Original document with signature is required. Note that no admissions decision can be made until these forms have been returned to the School of Medicine.

Assuming interviews aren't technically admissions decisions, but acceptances and rejections are?

I applied ignorantly to WashU prior to receiving my MCAT score, wishful thinking I guess, and once I realized it was pointless to put in the effort I never submitted my dean's cert. So I never turned it in and did not receive this email so I'm guessing it could mean good news for you guys 🙂

Anybody else confused that there's no open dates on the calendar in the portal? We need to call them to schedule an interview?

FWIW, received an II this evening....(and obviously dean letter hasn't made it there)...so probably good news for the others who got that as well! Portal shows no available dates, however.

II and received the email about the Dean's certificate earlier today too!

Did y'all reply to the email letting them know it was on its way?

Does anyone know how many students do research before matriculation? I hadn't even thought about it but it somewhat piqued my curiosity when I saw it in the acceptance packet.

I checked my portal for the first time since august. And they don't have my dean's cert despite me informing my school in August. Lol

Are you talking about doing the summer research program before 1st year? There were a couple people in my class that did that. Definitely <10. I think the number in the current 1st year class is similar.

Overall, I think the people that did it were happy with their decision. Plus it gives you the opportunity to meet the second years and enjoy some of the Central West End/St. Louis summer social scene, which is pretty fun.

Interviewed late Oct, haven't heard a single word from Wash U.

Yep, talking about the summer research program before matriculation and orientation. Hmm I had thought maybe a little bigger proportion of the students would do that, but seems like it could be worthwhile! I know St. Louis fairly well but can't complain with a summer there to hang out.

Does anyone know what time the interview day should end? I'm trying to book my flight!

I did it prior to my first year and loved it. There were maybe 10 MD students and 10 MSTP students who did it in my class, though that was 5 years ago (!).

Any insight onto whether interviewing this late is for the wait list?

I called yesterday to schedule an interview but they said they'll call me back in a bit (I was thinking in a few minutes). I never got a call back, would it be rude to call them today? Or would they be working on it still?

Just call again and say you didn't receive a call back yet.

There are 2 mid-Feb dates available online.

so here's a weird question: does anyone know when second look weekend is this year? Not accepted, and not at all confident that I will be, but on the off chance that I get admitted before April, I want to be damn sure I'm free that weekend.

Did you end up calling back? I also haven't heard back after same situation. Probably will call Monday if I don't hear anything

I ended up calling back and they took care of whatever I needed taken care of. They were really busy when I had first called them, and I imagine that could have been the case with you as well. I would give them a call back.

Anyone recently accepted? Particularly curious if any January interviewees have heard anything

How long after interviews do people tend to hear back? sorry if this has been covered, I have been following this thread sporadically so I may have missed it

Seems really varied. Some hear back quickly, others wait a while...

Yeah - it seems they haven't really accepted many people.. if you browse this thread there are very very few acceptances.. I think only the best candidates have been accepted, and i suspect they have not reached a full class yet (in other words, haven't accepted the minimum number yet).

There's an accepted class of 2020 fb group and there are currently 113 members.

cool - thanks for the sleuthing. that means they're possibly still 10 away from the minimum. and only 1/3 of their previous total acceptances (365).

Take into account, that FB group probably includes a number of admissions folks, administration and/or current students. So I'd anticipate that number being closer to something like 100 accepted so far. If that's the case with that group after all.

Edit someone said the exact same thing hahaha
