2016-2017 Boston University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also rejected...but their email was so thoughtful, I felt so loved even though I got rejected not gonna lie

I am so sorry to hear about the wave of rejections.
Were you all complete around early July?

I am eager to see this nice rejection email (but I definitely hope I don't receive it 😀 )! Can somebody paste it here?
Copied and pasted directly from my email. They've got this rejection email thing down to a art.

"The Committee on Admissions of Boston University School of Medicine has completed its review of your application. It is with great regret that I inform you that we will be unable to offer an interview this year. This is a disappointment, as much for those who are responsible for the decision as it may be for you, the candidate who is turned away.

Most of the candidates we are considering this year are qualified to attend medical school and are likely to make important contributions to our profession and to society. Sadly, with more than 100 applicants for every seat in the class, we are forced to deny many exceptional people.

We acknowledge and respect your accomplishments and recognize that our inability to offer you an opportunity to complete the admissions process is a loss for Boston University. Please accept our best wishes for all your future endeavors."

Dam anytime I want to break up with someone I need to ask BU for their letter writer to help me out!

Sorry to all those who were rejected, I am waiting for the axe to fall too. If you don't mind, did your status change on the portal as well, or was it just an email?

Pre-II rejection today! LizzyM 71. Pretty sure they have a high MCAT cutoff, but I agree that their email was pretty nice!

Joining the massive rejection train. Complete mid July.

Did not get the mail either.

What kind of score if you don't mind me asking? Like 90-95th percentile and still getting rejected?

Yes 90-95th percentile overall. Also had a 50-60th percentile in one subsection, so that likely contributed as well.

This was one of my earlier secondaries as well. I don't think my responses were particularly bad, but I wouldn't frame them or put them on the fridge.

I was complete mid July here.
No news yet.

*breathes heavily*

Anyone rejected who previously received the "hold" email? Wondering if there is a correlation...

@MDhopeful324 There is no correlation between "the email" and interview invites. One person recently said they received an II and never got the hold email.

I'm curious to know: for those of you who got IIs, did you do the optional essay for BU?

Rejected via email today pre-II. Thought I had a shot because of all of my work with underserved populations here in Boston. Oh well.

Does anyone know if they are friendly to an "i'll be in town" email? I've never sent one to a school before but I live in Louisiana and will be in Boston in November and would love to save the airfare
