Just got a biomed offer...

Does anyone know what fraction of biomed students typically get accepted the next year?

Also, the letter stated that completion of the program "does not guarantee admission". However, assuming you do better than average while in the program, is admission "virtually" certain? What would prevent you from getting admitted assuming you've been successful and you don't violate school policy?

Also, would I need to reinterview for the med school program?

I don't know if getting a biomed offer is better or getting wait-listed is better...

At least you have a very good chance of getting in next year.

So I guess everyone is wait-listed? LOL What the heck is going on...
Eh, I didn't have a good interview tbh. It was a last minute interview. Grateful that the school gave me an interview when other schools weren't in the beginning of Jan. I will be matriculating to a top 30 program in the Midwest. Best of luck everyone.

Came home to an alternate list letter.

More waiting it is lol

I feel like LLUSM put everyone in the waiting list... LOL that's funny!
I don't even know how many students LLUSM accept from the waiting list... 1? 2? Sighh

If you find out a percentage please do share. I'm thinking of applying to the Biomedical Sciences program. Do you know the class size? And if they offer MCAT prep. Also is it one year or two years?

~75 on waitlist, 25 get off. Good luck for those who stay on...

just withdrew from the waitlist! good luck to everyone who is still on it

Oh wow ... that's a much smaller list than I expected. And more than I expected to get off of it. Crossing my fingers~ :xf:

I believe their biomed program is only available for those that get an invitation. It is 1 year long & does not include MCAT prep.

It's been well over 3 months and no news for my brother who interviewed. I have to say that this admissions committee is an absolute joke...and doesn't deserve to be called "a committee" on any level.

Your brother didn't get any letter this week? Biomed offer or waitlist letter? It seems like most of applicants who were waiting received the letter from LLUSM.

Nope, nothing. Is it possible he got accepted and their waiting to call him tomorrow or something??

I just spoke with the director of the biomed program earlier this morning. He said that generally ~75% of the biomed students make it to MS1. Class size is usually 15-20 people.

That's really good! Man. I wish I could directly apply for this. Do you have a direct number to the director? Please PM me it. I want to see what can be done.

got rejected from this school today post-interview. oh well, main reason i wanted to go here is the location near my home and better chance of matching in Cali. I got into a few others on the east coast that I need to now choose amongst. Still, what this school did I will never forget - made me wait for 3 months, didnt tell me when I would hear back, front desk was very unhelpful, and they finally rejected me via a letter in the mail that was stamped a week ago. It's an insult to call them "an admissions committee" if they take 1/3 of a year to get back to applicants.. Other schools gave me their decision 10-25 days after my interview, and this school took 90 days. And that is not cool. Anyways, LLU itself is a great institution, and you guys I met at my interview day were awesome, and I wish you the best of luck! Thanks for helping me out on here so much 🙂

Sorry man. At least you got in somewhere else, that's more than a lot of people can say. Yeah I only got accepted 4 months later.... pretty long wait. That being said, its all fair game till orientation, some get accepted the day before too lol

Rejection received today. Postmarked April 19th. I was so mad, I tore up my letter. It's almost time for the AMCAS to open up for the next cycle, and they finally gave notice. Why did they wait so long just to throw me a rejection? I will never understand the admissions process for this school. Fortunately (though it's a little ironic to call it fortunate), I've already began preparing to reapply.

Despite my saltiness, I sincerely congratulate everyone who got accepted and good luck to those of you who were qualified enough to be placed on the wait list!

You're right. If they can't get things done on time, maybe they need to reconsider taking 1/7th of the week off for "Sabbath". Jesus would probably be happier if they worked on Saturdays and actually did their jobs

I completely agree that this has been one of the more frustrating admissions committees, but I certainly don't think it is has anything to do with their religion... I've been totally ghosted by several admissions committees waiting for post interview decisions, and it definitely doesn't matter if it's a religious school or not. Applying to med school in general is just an awful process where our fate is largely out of our control, and many admissions committees don't seem to respect the power they have over us.

I agree, they take freaking forever. However, this other school didn't get back to me until a week ago after I interviewed in early December... Pretty frustrating process. I don't think it has anything to do with religion. This whole process is just sucky

The entire process takes forever--I've had different schools take a long time to respond post-interview and honestly this isn't a school-specific issue--nor do I believe a school's religious affiliation would change the outcome/waiting time so I wouldn't bash a school administration out of frustration.

As a side note: does anyone know when LLU might release financial aid letter/awards? I've had some schools release this info and was wondering if LLU might release it before traffic day for those of us weighing options?

sorry, wasnt bashing the religion or saying it's because they are SDA and close on Saturdays. Its frustrating for most applicants, and I've never heard of a school delaying responses like LLU does. I find their actions really disrespectful to the students to be honest.

It definitely is frustrating for most applicants I know that feeling--I still have friends in their 2nd year of med school who haven't been formally rejected from PCOM or MCW but it happens-- I think we just have to understand that it's part of this crazy cycle.

are you serious? Hahaha wow thats cruel of PCOM and MCW

He tried to warn me that i'd be making a donation to PCOM--I applied and ended up getting more love from a Pennsylvania MD school than PCOM haha! I still haven't gotten my rejection email from PCOM yet so I guess my buddy was right--but what are you gonna do about it hahaha

I actually received some of my financial package from LLU last night. However, I was only approved for about half of what I need to cover COA. I called today and they told me they couldn't speak to my second loan until I accepted the first/post May 1st. Slightly frustrating but I at least have a little info from them, whereas other schools have told me zero things...

Did you have all the financial documents filled out/sent by the April 1st deadline?
I've yet to receive any info and I think I had everything in by mid/late march

Yes, I did. I also know I had all my documents in by early March, although I just signed the promissory notes on the federal loan website just a few weeks back. Hopefully yours should show up soon?

Did anyone else on the alternate list get a FinAid Award Notification email? Got one earlier this evening and checked my portal too showing me my award package (only for like half the COA too....)

Anyways thought it was super odd since I'm on the alternate list ... do they usually do that? Don't seem like schools generally do ...

Why you teasing me like this LLU?!!!??

award offer for the 2017-18 award year." along with info to check out my award on the portal.

I wonder if they mixed me up with somebody else .... lol

Got it via email from the finaid office. And nope, only on the alternate list ... lol

Maybe I'll wait till the end of the week to see.

Broke my heart a little to withdraw from here, but I felt that another school was the better fit for me in the end.......I hope that one of you gets my spot! I have my fingers crossed for all of you!
