Between Dec 31 and Feb 1 it's going to go silent for in-state applicants. No need to panic. Be sure to consider all your interview schools and rank them on TMDSAS before Jan 20 at 5 pm.By any chance any other IS applicants who had their interview early to mid Dec. hear back yet?
From what I read, they usually get back to you an average of 1 month. But I'm wondering if I should take into account that the offices are closed Christmas break before I start panicking (because I'm panicking now).
Thanks, nerves are getting to me (probably the same with everybody else). As for the rankings, I finished them late Dec. and have been hitting the save button every couple of days (the worst feeling would to be accepted and find out TMDSAS withdrew me because something went wrong with the rankings).Between Dec 31 and Feb 1 it's going to go silent for in-state applicants. I heard that they actually are giving out quite a few scholarships 😀 it is because a large chunk of the money McGovern donated was supposed to be used for scholarship purposes. I was also told that a few scholarships will be out before match, but most will come out by March/April, and they will all be out by June... hope that helps🙂FYI very few scholarships are given out by the school, so I wouldn't expect one. Also, one person I know who got a scholarship didn't get it until May, so perhaps more are given out once you've already chosen the school.
There are outside scholarships in TX that you can apply to though! I know several people have done that. 🙂
Yes! from what I hear you can opt to do most of your required rounds at MD Anderson, but the easiest one to get into is surgery🙂Are there any clinical clerkships/ electives at MD Anderson available for students?
This looks like the 2020 class? Unless there were over 200+ prematches
I thinks it's pre-matches plus current students? This looks like the 2020 class? Unless there were over 200+ prematches
Yup, look through the profile pictures. Tons of white coats.I thinks it's pre-matches plus current students?

Why does it say class of 2021 then lolMost of the people in the group are current first and second years
It's a Facebook group page for the class of 2021 but has some first and second years in the group to answer questions and post school announcements. Once match happens it will be more of the incoming students, but right now it happens to be more current students. I think this is the same for all med school pages. Why does it say class of 2021 then lol
Does anyone know when you need to officially graduate from your undergrad before you can attend McGovern (and med schools in general)? I have one foreign language class in the summer that ends on Aug. 9, but the summer graduation paperwork deadline is on Aug. 8, meaning I'll most likely have to apply for the August graduation that is due on Aug. 18 instead. If I have to graduate before August, I can practice to take an oral test to waive the second language requirement, I just need an idea of the graduation requirement for the med school in order to make my decision.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like they were too lazy and pasted your name onto a template. I'm sure you are wait listed.Just got an email from McGovern: "As of right now, you are currently on McGovern Medical School's waitlist unless you matched with a school that you ranked higher."
But I'm an out-of-state applicant, and we don't get in Texas schools with the match system. So did I get this email by accident or am I on the waitlist?
Got the same email, OOS. Like the other poster said, I just think they didn't want to write up a separate email.Just got an email from McGovern: "As of right now, you are currently on McGovern Medical School's waitlist unless you matched with a school that you ranked higher."

Okay, so I guess I'll consider this email to be a waitlist. And I'll call tomorrow to confirm.
I only originally questioned it because there have been 0 posts about an OOS acceptance at McGovern this year, which is weird because McGovern matriculated 20 OOSers last year, which is a decent amount. Even UTMB, which matriculated only 6 OOSers last year had acceptance posts on the forum.
Got the same email, also OOS. Just to make you feel better!Just got an email from McGovern: "As of right now, you are currently on McGovern Medical School's waitlist unless you matched with a school that you ranked higher."

Waitlisted, IS.
By any chance anyone know how many people get an interview at McGovern? I feel like a student ambassador told us on interview day that they were able to pull everyone from the waitlist a year or 2 ago. Which is insane, since I read on the forums that some TX schools only pull off 10 people with a waitlist of over 100.
Was the student just misinformed or was my mind playing tricks on me? Did I even go to that interview? I'm so confused.![]()
Thank you! I've been knocking my brain on this for over a week now and trying to do every calculation I could think of, only to say that "there's no way". This is a bit disappointing news, but at least the problem is solved. They interview close to 900 I believe. There's no way they pulled everyone from the waitlist. On our Facebook group, there's quite a few people, but some are current students. They matriculate 200+ people. Unless around 700 people declined to go here, I think that person was very misinformed haha. I have been told that they pull around 5-10 people each year
Also, regarding the waitlist, I believe everyone at UT Houston is waitlisted that didn't get in. So the waitlist wouldn't be 100 people. Edit: Realized you weren't referencing Mcgovern with the 100 waitlist thing haha sorry!

Don't give up hope though! At every school I interviewed at, people kept talking about how they got off the waitlist 🙂 And remember, Baylor still has the majority of acceptances to give out, which will def cause a lot of people to drop. And OOS acceptances as well!
Thanks guys! Hopefully I hear back from them March or early April so that I don't have to retake the MCAT that I scheduled. Anyone with fingers, please cross them for me!I am a current MS1 and I know a TON of people who got off the waitlist, don't lose hope yet!
