2016-2017 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

I'm a little confused about my portal status here. In bold, it just says that my file is complete, but right under it, it says "interview offer date: 10/12/16." Does this mean anything? I haven't gotten an email about my status.

You've been given an interview! You'll get an email soonish. Took a day for me.

Hey all,

Applicant for next year's cycle here. I just received some snail mail out of the blue suggesting I apply to WashU- just trying to make sense of this, did any of you get this same letter last year?

I got some snail mail from them very early in the cycle (before I had submitted a primary to them). I think it had to do with my MCAT score, something about being identified as a high-achieving student. Got letters (and emails) from other schools, as well. My advice is to only apply here if you want to go here, not because they sent you a letter.

got the letter and didn't get an interview here yet. Yet got interviews at other top ten schools which I didn't get a letter from. It means absolutely nothing IMO, just a WashU recruiting tactic.

Where on sdn can we find common interview questions that each schools asks?

My daughter is an applicant this cycle and had received the same letter. Thus far she has heard nothing from Wash U despite obtaining 18 interview invitations from other good schools including Harvard. In other words, the letter clearly signifies no advantage in the application process.

18 interviews??? That's insane! She must be indecisive, rich, and brilliant.

Does anyone who's interviewed already and stayed at Olin know what we should bring? Like our own pillows, blankets, towels?

Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes WashU to send out notifications of your application status? I know they mentioned everyone should hear by April. Does that mean you could interview in September and hear back in April? Or is it that the entire class should be filled by April, and that you generally hear of some sort of initial status a month after your interview? Sorry for the question, just another slightly neurotic premed anxiously waiting.

I remember them saying that when you interview doesn't affect when you hear back necessarily. They start accepting people in November, but just because you interviewed in September doesn't mean you'll hear back before April.

Yeah this was my impression.

So we will be notified starting in November?

Based on the last year's thread, acceptances were notified via call/portal change twice a month (mid and late month starting from November) with the exception of late-December. There were couple acceptances with quick turnaround (<1 mo) who tended to get full ride near the end of the cycle.

At interview day they said it was technically rolling but the vast majority of acceptances would go out in march 🙁 So probably don't hold your breath about hearing back soon, but you could still have a pleasant surprise at some point!

Congrats!
How does it look like in your portal when you get an II?

In the check application status page under the "according to our records and procedures your file is complete"

It says interview offer date: xx/xx/xxxx

And also a new tab on left column to set up interview date

when are acceptances going to go out...according to last years thread it should be soon?

What's the area code that they called from?

For those who were accepted, did you get a status change in the portal?
