does anyone know what this "hold" email means? has anyone contacted RFU's ADCOM about it? it seems like a new status that was not sent out last year. I got the complete email in early Sept

also just to clarify this is the pre-II "hold" email that errbody is referring to above...
 
Hold email today as well. I suspect that they don't actually make a decision to send it to individual applicants and the computer just sends it to everyone who hasn't either been rejected or interviewed. It appears to be an automated system without a lot of thought going into it.

Hey, everyone! I'm new to this thread and have really appreciated all the information everyone shares on here. As for those who recently received the hold emails, there's still hope! It's not over until it's over. I was wondering if anyone from the 11/15 interview date has heard anything back (rejection, waitlisted, acceptance)? I've seen some news from the 11/10 interviewees but was wondering if any news reached later dates.
 
Sent an update and got a very generic response that didnt really have anything to do with my update. Said my app is complete and under review, which I already knew. Didnt acknowledge that my update would be added to my app or not.
 
Wait, i dont think they even take grades. Direct quote from adcom

"Unfortunately, we cannot accept any additional information, updates, corrections, or materials unless it includes Institutional Action, Felony, Misdemeanor or Military Discharge explanations."

the hold he referred to was similar to the one we got today and he later posted that he got accepted June 8th

Ok, so that confirms what I was thinking. The "hold" email is a genuine hold and not just an informal rejection

Trollest below is absolutely correct. CMS does not take updates unless it involves you getting into trouble at school, trouble with the law, or discharged from the military.

We still don't know whether these are just glorified rejections or not. Notice that nobody has been rejected pre-II from this school yet?

Somebody posted earlier that they have friends who have been rejected pre-II from this school.
 
Wait so pre ii holds went out, AND post II wait lists?
What am I supposed to take away from this?
 
Hey all,

I also received the same pre-II email today ("...strong academic potential... under continued consideration"). Was complete 9/20, and also anticipated hearing something between now and Christmas, as my complete email stated to allow 8-10 weeks for thorough evaluation (this week will be 8, Christmas will be 10).

I called a few months back and they said they have rejected some people pre-II already. So I think as long as you didn't get a rejection, you are still under consideration.

PS I didn't get the hold email either. Complete in August.

comforting to hear they have rejected pre-II meaning it's a real hold and not a polite way of saying "we're going to reject you but we want to join the crowd of schools that will all reject you in the same week of 2018" :bag:

I suspect those of us getting pre-II holds en masse today are getting them because the reviewers haven't really gotten around to doing an in depth review of our applications yet. Our stats and the boxes we have checked were enough to save us from the auto reject pile, but they haven't had time yet to go through and read our essays and experiences and contextualize our applications. Which is fine with me, because I'd rather have them take their time and do it right. I feel like they are overwhelmed this year with the sheer number of applications.

This would certainly make sense considering the timing. The winter break is right around the corner, the AdCom has almost certainly met for the last time in 2017, giving us a little something rather than making us wait another 3 weeks would seem the nice thing to do. And again, I maintain that this is a genuine hold and not a polite rejection
 
Any thoughts on why only rejections and waitlists have gone out for 10/27 or later interviews and no acceptances?

Also, curious why people from November interviews are hearing before some 10/27 people. I interviewed 10/27 and am still waiting to hear. Anyone else?

In past years they have sent out batches of rejections, followed by wait lists, followed by acceptances (including several II weeks at a time). Therefore, be happy you haven't heard anything because more than likely that means an acceptance is on its way..... unless they send out another batch of WL's beforehand.

Edit: I also interviewed 10/27 and am waiting to hear back. Last year a round of acceptances went out on Dec. 15th (which was a Thursday) so maybe we will hear tomorrow.

Haha thanks trying not to get my hopes up too high! Also really wanting to just hear in the next few days and not have to wait till after winter break :/

Hey, I also interviewed that day, I wonder if we met! But I havent heard anything either...

Were you in the AM group or the PM group? I was in the PM! I'm trying not to think about it too much because people before us still haven't heard anything...but I just can't help myself haha.

What dates before us haven’t heard? I think 10/27 is the first date that hasn’t heard.

Some people from 10/27 have heard some news and even some from 11/10. I think the majority of the 11/10 and 11/15 interviewees haven't heard anything. I wasn't sure if there was another interview date in between those.
 
For those that have heard, what is the email address the decision comes from or the subject line? I know admissions warned the decision emails often go to junk or get lost somehow and I just wanna be sure i’m not missing it 😛

Right so we’re the first interview day that hasn’t completely heard then.
