2018-2019 NYU Long Island

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was waitlisted here, but fortunate enough to get accepted at another school. I was wondering what to do about finding roommates/apartments near the other school. I want to go ahead with plan b, but I'm reluctant to make any significant moves (like signing a lease) because I'm still waiting to hear back.

Is anyone in a similar situation?
Yep. Moving across the US, so definitely need to start making some concrete plans soon. Happy to have this dilemma though!

Yup! need to sign a lease asap

Recently joined SDN and also on the waitlist here.
I spoke to some people who are involved with the school but not admissions and they seemed to think the class is full but it sounded like at least some people were PTE not CTE

So I think the class is almost full. They may be waiting on some people to go from “plan to enroll” over to “commit to enroll” and withdraw from all other schools. I say this because we had recently got an email reminding people they need to do this before July 1st. In addition, they mentioned in the email that most people have done this already, only a couple have not. So I think they’re waiting on a couple of people to fully decide wether or not they are going to go. So there may be hope for others if those couple folks decide to go elsewhere.

Thanks for the update !!

Do you guys think it’s safe to assume that there won’t be anymore waitlist movement? I’m asking because I was going to go ahead and sign a lease for an apartment.

Signed my lease at the school i'm PTE but not dropping out yet. I would only be out my deposit and 1 months rent which is a whole lot less than all of medical school tuition lol.

oh yeah, I wasn't suggesting that lil nae drop out...but we should be signing leases at this point

The commit to enroll deadline is July 1st. Do you think there will be any waitlist movement after that?

(I’ve basically accepted a soft rejection lol, but was just wondering what y’all thought!)

Only a few people haven’t CTE’d so I think it’s unlikely. Unless those who have CTE’d then get pulled off another waitlist mid July despite having committed to this school. No one seems 100% on whether the guidelines will be followed

July 1st!!! Let us know if anyone gets pulled off the waitlist

Two things to note friends;
- On the website the timeline/deadlines section now reflects dates for the new cycle (understandable). "Applicants on admissions waitlist are notified of acceptance" I am positive used to say June-July, and almost 100% said June-July 22. (Understandably now for what will be a full admission cycle it says June). Feel like my optimism may be biasing my recall of that last bit, so don't want to confidently misinform without disclaiming.
-Called the admission office and no response from dial option 1- for admissions, nor from 4- for the deans office. I did not have any luck calling earlier in the cycle (never let messages, however). Hopefully I've shared as much useful info as I've got. Know we're all anxious. Hoping you all less of that, more of the good stuff to be had in life, and a happy Independence Day weekend!
Your friendly neighborhood pre-med,
B

I wonder if the fact that they are planning to pull people all the way until July 22nd means that they are willing to take people who have CTE'd elsewhere.

Pretty sure they would get in big trouble if they tried to do that, I don't think they would even bother trying to do it because of the issues it could cause.

thank you!

So the July 29th deadline is for the new cycle, right? They didn't push back the deadline for the current cycle, did they?
