If people hear back before final pool is it only acceptances or do they waitlist/reject people post interview before final pool?

I just got an II! 😀 - theyve given me two interview dates to choose from, but neither are feasible for me. Would it be acceptable to politely request another date aside from the ones left?

Those are probably the last available interview dates; interviews finish in January.

As the person above me said, those are the last available. You can request to be put on the cancellation list though if someone withdraws a II. But you'll end up being pretty short notice most likely when you hear.

What are the dates? I guess I wont be interviewing here this year 🙁

Does anyone know if you tell them or they tell you about a possible scholarship?

Simple. Is it possible for me to get a scholarship because of my financial constraints. Something like that. Or else haha.
The only way I could see it being appropriate to directly ask for a scholarship is if you have one elsewhere and could use it as leverage. Otherwise I think your FAFSA would give them sufficient info and that is how they decide. They did say to fill it out ASAP because that partly determines how likely you are to get scholarships

Nothing here. Though I noticed the past few tuesdays they sent the decision it was on Weds morning for some people?
So what you’re telling me is a have another sleepless night ahead of me?

I’m probably the last person who should be saying this, but after waiting about 4.5 months to hear back since early September I think the best thing to do at this point is to not have any expectations to hear back until March. Most people end up in the final pool after their interview and not hearing back now does not mean you’re rejected by any means. Yeah it’s sucks and is maybe even slightly unfair but it’s the way the process works at Iowa. I’ve felt a lot less stressed after I started to assume that I’ll just have to wait until March to hear back.

Agreed, once I let myself just accept (heh) that I will likely hear in March, I have been much less on edge.

I really don't appreciate the way Iowa handles their post interview decisions process. It has kinda turned me off to the school. Does anybody know why they have to go through final pool and then the waitlist?

Thank you!! I got the email about 10 to 15 minutes after the portal update.

I don’t know why they do it this way, but I will say that the gripes I have with their system would go away if they would tell us if we were final pooled 6-8 weeks after our interview. Being in limbo about where you stand for 5 months creates an unnecessary amount of anxiety. Every other school I have interviewed at has at least said something about my status post interview within 2 months. One school put me in ‘limbo’ post interview much like Iowa does, however, they actually told me that’s where my application was put within a reasonable time frame. I get it, they don’t owe us anything... but I can see how someone who is borderline about possibly matriculating here might decide against it just based on the admissions process.

I agree. I have been accepted at a different school, but I can't imagine what it must be like for someone interviewed at Iowa waiting for their first acceptance

Yea I really do wonder what the point of final pool taking so long is...and their commit to enroll deadline is July. So if you’re waitlisted you need to wait even longer for waitlist movement...

Well, to be fair CCOM's admissions process is pretty transparent as far as they go, you even get a semi-real time waitlist #. Other than waiting a while (which happens at many other schools). Final pool means you get a second chance for an acceptance before waitlist/rejection. If you interviewed in Sept, and the committee reviewed your app at that time and did not offer acceptance, it means you have another second chance to get an acceptance in the final pool. At most other schools, you would have been waitlisted or rejected after that first pass in front of the committee.

Does anyone know how many seats are left for IS final pool? I'm trying to gauge my chances of getting in at this point

Someone correct me if the info has changed, but I was told that there will be 50 IS acceptances during the rolling phase, giving about 35 IS acceptances in the final pool and 50 WL spots. Last year there was not much waitlist movement (12 spots I think) but I think WL movement can be kind of unpredictable.

Thank you! So my chances aren't very high haha

Are we certain yesterday was the last rolling phase date? Or is the 14th still possible? I only ask because it (seemed, sampling bias maybe) like they skipped a tuesday or two in December and they last date they accept updates is the 24th, making me think that is the final pool entry date?

Complete 9/17, just got hit with the pre-II R. Cheers!

If they didn't like us enough to accept us during the first review, I don't think it would hurt to put us in the final pool at that point and let us know immediately.

Has anyone gotten the Certiphi background check e-mail yet?

I got it yesterday and just did it. Also, PSA it wants your full zip code (9 digits) and it will not let you fill out the form if you only use the 5 digit ZIP.

RIP to the 20 minutes it took me to figure this out.
