2019-2020 Johns Hopkins

No I did not! I only had two tabs on my portal. One for the photo upload and the other one for the supplemental application. No tab whatsoever for the prereqs. I have had this tab on the portals of some other schools though but not for this one.

Interesting. I heard for some of those who applied early, the photo and pre-req tabs weren't open until after they've submitted the secondary questions (most probably a glitch). But if you got the photo tab, it seems odd to not have the pre-reqs tab as well. Definitely ask them about that.

Congrats! What were your stats? (MCAT)

I see people mentioning here that there is a prereq section on the secondary. However, I submitted my secondary and uploaded my photo on 09/05 but never encountered any prereq section. Could someone please tell me which section are you talking about? Thank you!

Same here, submitted my secondary around the same time. Might shoot them an email.

Edit: ended up sending them an email

I submitted my secondary like two and a half weeks ago and just got an email to add my prereqs. Does this mean anything?

I also got the email a bit ago to add my prereq's. If I'm understanding right some of you were able to add your prereq's on your original secondary? That's a bummer because it seems like those of us that had this glitch are just now considered complete although we may have submitted some time ago.

I had this email as well, and then about a day or two later got an II. I think they have already reviewed it for the most part and just need some added info. iirc I didn't input my prereqs originally, then they emailed me about a week or two later to add in a couple things. Like I said, soon after I got an II. So I don't think they just started my review afterwards, I think they have done a partial review at least.

Anyone else complete 9/4 who hasn’t heard back?
Same here, small sliver of hope that there may be another II wave soon for us (after neurotically checking last year's thread where they sent IIs 3 times for one complete date and I think we only had 2) but also high chance they will ghost us 🙁

I received the email to complete pre-reqs roughly a week ago, still no complete email. Anyone else in this situation?

Anyone know how Hopkins feels about ITA email/phone call?

Congrats to all the interview invites! (And best wishes to those waiting)!

Current MS4 (or 5? Guess I'm technically a Super Senior) – happy to answer any questions and take my mind off my current residency cycle waiting. 😉

Can't say definitively, but they typically do not take pre-interview updates and I am unsure if this extends to ITA notifications.

i was but just got an II
Congrats! Mind dm (or here) me the available dates? I’m debating to see if I will send an ITA email or not (Depending if the dates I will be there are even available)

I'm a little confused. Interviewing next week -- is there a group interview component here?

Nope. One on one with a faculty and MS4, both of which should be around 30 minutes. The remainder of the time you chill out in the "fishbowl" – a waiting room full of your co-applicants and some of the MS4 interviewers. (THERE ARE SNACKS!!) Sometimes, based on how interviews are staggered, there may not be any MS4s able to join you the fishbowl, which is not a big deal. You can use the fishbowl time to mingle, chat, ask questions, eat snacks, etc. Some of these folks may end up being your future classmates – or even housemates. Just be your normal, friendly self.

There's a lot of SDN anxiety that surrounds the fishbowl, but there's no trick to it. IMHO there's nothing you can really do in the fishbowl to make yourself a star, but there are things you can do that will turn folks off; please don't down mow down your co-applicants when it comes to asking questions or start "tooting your own horn." As with the optional pre-interview Q&A meet-and-greet, behave as you would upon meeting a bunch of new friends/colleagues!

Also if you're dead tired and can't really make conversation, that's cool too. I spent my fishbowl time eating cookies and listening to other folks. Just don't hide in a corner messing around on your phone.

Thank you and good luck on the residency applications! Would you recommend writing a letter of interest if we’re still waiting and it’s been over a month since the complete email?

Does anyone have the link to that giant spreadsheet comparing interviews sent out by schools vs offers of admissions/waitlists?

I do not believe Hopkins accepts pre-interview LOIs/updates/etc. – at least not as of last year.

However, just because there's a wait does not mean you're out of the running – I think I was complete for at least a month and a half before getting an II. (I sent in my app + secondary on day 1 as I had them prewritten, but was not in their initial waves of invites). Some of my closest friends ended up interviewing in Feb, despite early apps!

Thanks a lot for replying! 🙂 Keeping my fingers crossed!

Has everyone that has been complete received an email for being complete? I was complete beginning of September but never received an actual email.
Hi! The website says that it can take between 4-6 weeks for applications to be processed and marked complete. Not sure if it’s been that long since you submitted your secondary. The turnaround time for me was around 3 weeks!

Sooooo....

I’ve really pushed off the secondary application and am losing more and more motivation by the hour. Is it worth completing this late in the game? Should I push through and complete? Or move on with my life?

Although it is late, there will still be interview spots. Your odds are lower, but if you think you are competitive then go for it. If it is a reach, then save your $. Just my opinion, not based on anything

very last minute and late, i know. is it way too late to submit primary to hopkins tonight?
