2019-2020 Kaiser (Tyson)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I haven’t gotten my financial aid package yet, but I did get a grow-your-own-palm tree-kit and a hand written note from Dean Schuster, which is arguably the best swag so far. Do you think if I don’t keep my tree alive then I don’t get to matriculate? Is this a CASPer 2.0?? What’s the catch??
super happy for you and excited to be your classmate next year!
I thought the palm tree kit was a joke but I just got mine too! I'm shocked how personalized the note is. They really are pulling out all the stops.

So happy for you! So interested in this school and we have identical stats so thank you for giving me hope haha

Congrats! Welp, looks like they're closing out because last interview dates are in march 🙁

Looks like it's not march, they finish interviewing mid-feb. For me, unfortunately, next week is the last week I'll hold out hope :/

If you have interviewed here, how was your experience? Was the interview portion in the beginning or the end of the day? 🙂

Anyone hear back post interview recently. I interviewed 8/29 and nothing...

interviewed October and someone from my interview day reported an acceptance like 2 weeks later. Curious how often they’re making acceptance decisions

Was it actually 2 weeks or was that an exaggeration? I just interviewed here and I really hope they give out some A's 2 weeks after! (I've interviewed at 5+ places and I have not heard from any place yet...some of them have been back in September... :/ ...the waiting game is so damaging to mental health)...

BUT GOOD VIBES TO EVERYONE! PLS KEEP YOUR HEAD UP <3

It was literally like two weeks almost exactly iirc. Feel you on the wait, I interviewed at my top choice over 3 months ago and they’ve had a couple A rounds but I’ve gotten only silence.

When do they stop sending IIs?
I don't think anyone knows for sure...
But, we do know (according to their interactive timeline) that they interview until February 15...and I've seen some posts on the page just before this where people are signing up for for Early February interviews. So, I would say they're wrapping up their IIs (but, this is all just speculation! Maybe they'll start interviewing more than once a week, but no one really knows)

Just got an II here!!! I submitted mid-August, I'm OOS and LM:66. The only interview date was mid-February as well, so I'm assuming this is one of their last interview dates available.

do you have an SMP or something that you felt played into you getting an invite? Similar stats but thought this school was an absolute moonshot for me. Im super happy for you though

I don't have an SMP! I am grateful enough to have a really good gap year(s) job (at the CDC) and have a pretty strong application overall. I've built a strong relationship with my letter writers as well, so those recs honestly could have helped as well. My stats (3.63, 507) aren't the "strongest" compared to others, so I knew once I checked the box for a decent MCAT score, my application/background history would show that I'm more than some 3 digit number. Mix that together with a dash of luck, and I'm just fortunate enough to receive an II from here!

Will they still review September and October applications? Sounds like they are in mid August and on their last II date.
This shows how important it is to apply early in the cycle. Wish I applied ealier as well... Completed in late September...

Complete 09/16 and expecting an R at this point. It’s kind of a sham that medical schools don’t look over all apps before ending the interview season, there are probably some real gems in there who don’t get II’s due to date.

I believe legally a pair of human eyes must look at each and every app. But you can imagine that is easily loopholed. An intern skimming through apps and reading your MCAT score at the end of the cycle would count.

I don't think that's true for the majority of programs. People with later completion dates probably received IIs, they're just not on SDN. MD/PhD timeline might be different, but I submitted my secondary to Kaiser at the end of September, received a complete email at the end of October, and got an II the next day.

I think the admissions office read this post and that happy holidays email was the result.
