It says through early May which is the wl period though
Not deferred?devastated.
my first interview, on the first interview date, my first choice, rejected.
no. straight up rejection, which makes this feel incredibly worse, since it looks like i'm the only oneNot deferred?
Did you get the email stating, “while we are not prepared to offer an acceptance at this time, your app is still being considered by the committee”?Deferred, interviewed early/mid December. Did anyone with a December interview date get an A?
I did. I interviewed in December. Has anyone in December been accepted? Sounds like most of us have been deferred.Did you get the email stating, “while we are not prepared to offer an acceptance at this time, your app is still being considered by the committee”?
I interviewed in September :/ but it’s all good I guess.I did. I interviewed in December. Has anyone in December been accepted? Sounds like most of us have been deferred.
I interviewed mid-October, around the 11th I believe. For ppl that were accepted around what time did you interview?
I interviewed late October and got deferred tooI interviewed mid November and got deferred
I run the risk of sounding neurotic, but how late in October?Accepted! Interviewed late october
yes, in this thread people talked about how they were thinking of possibly delaying decisions this year, and this seems like their solution.Deferred, interviewed early nov. It sounds like this is new this year- I believe it is different from WL.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get into a great school!! It is somewhat surprising since Sinai usually waitlists people post II as opposed to rejecting them but this could be a new trend they’re starting which is to the better I think as opposed to dragging people for months and finally rejecting them. I hope you the best in your future endeavors.no. straight up rejection, which makes this feel incredibly worse, since it looks like i'm the only one

Don't worry buddy I'm there with you. Also not sure what exactly happened but I felt the interview went well (even better than some schools that I got in to) so I'm just not going to beat myself up over it.
Now I may be wrong about this, but I think that a deferral is different than a waitlist, or else they would have just straight up waitlisted you all. BU does something similar where they have a wave of acceptances in December or January and defer a majority of later interviewees to a later decision day. I think that you’ll hear back about the status of your application before the PTE deadline. Is “deferred” counted in 3 WLs with traffic rule?
They most likely interview into February.Anyone know if they’re done interviews? This is my dream school
Also deferred xP
So I have spent a long time yesterday reading the 2017-2018 and the 2018-2019 threads in order to understand if deferring students is a common thing sinai does. What did I find?
- 2 years ago they deferred people but last year they waitlisted them right away.
- In the past 2 years (from what I read), no one was rejected post interview within the decision release monthly dates.
- Most people that were deferred 2 years ago ended up on the waitlist.
Why defer people this year and not directly waitlist them like last year? I am thinking that they want to see all of the interviewees first then make decisions monthly and choose some candidates to accept from the deferred pile. Another reason could simply be because being “deferred” sounds better than being “waitlisted” especially with lots of us being good applicants that may already have other options. I do think that lots of the deferred people will be waitlisted. Why is that? I think it’s due to the fact that schools won’t be able to see which schools the candidates got accepted to till the end of April. By then, waitlist movement usually starts and schools get a better idea of who to accept/reject. Overall, the process definitely sucks and is very stressful since some of us have been waiting for 4 months to just hear that we need to wait another 2-4 months. I guess it be like that sometimes. Good luck y’all.
Hmmm I don’t totally agree since one student who is in the admissions committee was posting here and he/she explained the process to us. They mentioned that the voting is done the week after the interview if I remember correctly. In regards to the December people that is a possibility, however, I was interviewed in September and I got deferred. I also know of others interviewed in September and deferred. Therefore, I wouldn’t say they didn’t get to us.In the email, they said rolling admissions, so it looks like they are sending acceptances as applicants get reviewed and voted on by the admissions committee. I don't think there's any need to speculate if this "deferral" means you're waitlisted or not. I think it just means you haven't been reviewed and voted on completely yet. This is evidenced by the fact that everyone on here who interviewed in December got the "deferral" email. I'm expecting they will regularly release more As (perhaps on a weekly basis, or at least depending on how frequently the admissions committee meets and votes to A or R). At worse, this just means 2+ "waves" of As. We just had the first wave of As for people who interviewed before sometime in November, and we'll have another wave down the line for people who interviewed after that.
I interviewed in October and got deferred as well. I don't think this is a waitlist though, but it's not truly "rolling" by the looks of everything. It kind of sounds like it's in betweenHmmm I don’t totally agree since one student who is in the admissions committee was posting here and he/she explained the process to us. On my interview day they said they appreciate letters of intent. I was accepted but did not send one.So, if this "continued review" isn't a waitlist since it looks like they might still be reviewing applicants, would this be an appropriate time to write a letter of intent? Thoughts?
