During my orientation couple years back there were 3-4 students standby just in case if the accepted students don't show up. There will be WL movement all the way back to the orientation day.

This is how the waitlist and standby situation was explained to my interview cohort by Nancy back in March.

• Some people will get put on a waitlist that is ordered. We never know the order.
• Eventually, Touro will stop interviewing and start accepting people off the waitlist to fill seats for the incoming class.
• Once the class is full, waitlist movement basically stops. Whoever are the top 2-3 candidates left on the waitlist are now designated standby. Everyone else on the waitlist is effectively rejected.
• If you are standby, you have to be able to jump at the last minute to fill a spot.
• If you are accepted and miss orientation you automatically lose your seat to whoever is next in the standby list.
• If you are on standby and never get called to fill a seat, you are guaranteed admission to the next cycle.

The million-dollar question is, when are they going to start accepting people off the waitlist and how many?

No, please reread what I wrote. Only 2 or 3 people from the waitlist will have standby status. TUNCOM will call you to let you know. You do not want to be on standby. You want to be accepted off the WL right away.

Here, let me make up an example for illustration. Again, these numbers are all MADE UP. It is for purpose of explaining the process.

• Say that TUNCOM has 100 seats total for the class of 2024.
• Say they interview 500 applicants.
• Say they accept 80 of the 500 interviewees, waitlist 50, and reject the remaining 370.
• You have 20 seats left and 50 people on the waitlist. You accept the top 20 off the waitlist.
• The class is now full. 30 people remain on the waitlist.
• TUNCOM will call the top 2 or 3 people that are still left on the waitlist. These are the ppl with WL rank #21, #22, and #23.
• If for whatever reason someone fails to show up for orientation or drops out, Standby #1 needs to be able to get their butt to Henderson, NV immediately or TUNCOM will give the seat to Standby #2, etc.
• If nobody drops out, the people on standby have guaranteed acceptance the next year if they want it.

Someone earlier said the class size this year is 183. According to the ChooseDO Explorer, last year's class was 181 students.

right now, there are 159 people. Last year’s class had more than 200 people, guessing that people never got out the group even though they didn’t end up

Hi everyone! This is my very first post on SDN. I am a long time lurker, and after being waitlisted at this school, I have been checking SDN a billion times a day for any updates. I thank each and everyone of you who have posted on here to shed any insight or information that allows us to have a peace of mind in such a stressful time in our lives. I just wanted to share any information that I have and give back as well. This may be a small thing but I figured any information is valuable at this time lol. I contacted someone in admissions today to ask about waitlist movement and the person just replied now and said verbatim "Waitlist was just activated. You may hear something between now and end of July." I hope this helps in anyway! Good luck to you all!

Maybe this school is different then. Spoke to an admin at touro Middletown. He told me they just send the email to make sure people interested. Lol I hope I’m wrong because I got the email too.
