My understanding is they do something like quartiles on MSPE, no individual rank. As for aid, Im curious too but I do not expect much aid being thrown around since UCI is public.

I was told that they do offer merit scholarships through the admissions office.

Alternate :|

Anyone know how many people they roughly take off the waitlist?

Anyone else with II or R? Davis Rs went out yesterday...

I wouldn't expect any overlap for their decision dates/interview invite dates.

That being said, I submitted July for Davis and August for Irvine and still awaiting a decision from both 🙂

Fortunately UCI accepts updates through their portal so that may be a good way to "inquire" about your application if you have anything significant to add!

Does anybody know who is the Dean of Admissions? I know it says in Dr. Peterson's description that she is the Interim Assistant Dean, but Dr. Osborn was more involved in interview day and it not an "assistant". I am unfamiliar with the role of a "Dean of Students" though.

The dean of students is the dean of admissions as well. It’s a combined position.

do yall think WL here is basically a soft R given that UCI has a pretty good reputation and most ppl here would attend if accepted?

WL is not a soft R! I think I read that schools are WL more candidates because of the new system (they can't see where else you get in, so it's harder for them to predict their yield as accurately). Every school takes people off of the WL.

how’s the cost of living in irvine? Is there subsidized housing for medical students?

Irvine/Newport Beach is not cheap, but there are surrounding areas that are less expensive (Santa Ana/some areas of Costa Mesa). Housing for 3rd/4th year is probably less expensive in Orange as well.

Does anyone know if there's a chance they will transition to P/F for M2? Every other UC has it except Irvine and most schools are abandoning graded preclinical.

Any idea on how much an uber from LAX to UC Irvine would cost me? Trying to figure out how much this trip will run me...

where are you flying from? are there no flight into john wayne or long beach?

Flying from Florida- there are flights to John Wayne but they're alot more expensive and longer. If I can catch an Uber around $75 I won't mind, I'm just scared because I'm reading during rush-hour the ubers can cost hundreds...

It is more expensive during rush hour.. what time does your flight land? Idk how much extra time you have, but if the price becomes insanely expensive there is also the metro link train which would cost like ~$20. It would probably take like 1.5 hours though to go by train though
