2019-2020 UC Irvine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I can’t speak to this, but I do know that UC Irvine has interviews available all the way through Spring, so it seems like their cycle runs longer than other schools! It seems very possible it will just take them a long time to truly evaluate each application!
It depends on whether you select quarter or semester system. I put quarter units because I went to a quarter system school.
thank you. That's what I put too but I want to make sure it's okay either way

For the photo upload on the secondary is anyone else's showing up blurry too?

Anyone else having a hard time saving their emergency contact's email address on the Secondary Portal?

My first II! LM 73, IS, complete 8/11

Congratulations!!

And holy cow, complete 8/11?? These 1-2 day turnarounds really boggle my head about the "rolling" admissions process. Makes me nervous since I submitted much earlier but also optimistic that I wasn't reviewed yet? Honestly no idea.

Schools don’t review applicants in order. I believe they use a system that categorizes applicants so that those that are most desirable (most fit school’s mission, URM with amazing stats, etc) will be interviewed first, which is why some have really quick turnaround.

In the prerequisite, do you list semester or quarter units? Someone please help!
On your AMCAS application they convert everything to semester units. So you should use semester units for every class if that is what is stated. You can go review your AMCAS application to see what the conversion is

Anyone MD/PhD still waiting on a secondary...? I was verified 7/2.

The secondary has a Y/N question: "Did either of our parents attend college?"
I'm not sure what to answer because my mom attended community college, but never got a degree. Does it still count as attending college? I'm not sure if attending implies getting a degree as well.

I had the same situation, I just put yes because attending means like taking courses there, doesn't say anything about a degree lol

Thanks! I also emailed the admissions office since I have a few days before my app is due. Will update!

Update: I got a reply! If your parent(s) have attended college even if they didn’t end up getting a degree, you would still mark yes for that question.

For the list of activities with the underserved, would it be fine if I put a future date for the end date for one activity that I plan to continue doing until I start medical school?

I think there was like a small statement that said up to the current date somewhere

Am Grateful to have received a secondary from UC Irvine, but man, why do I have to enter all of my AMCAS activities?

Anyone know what the "10 Minute Video MMI" for the interview is like? I saw it's listed under the format on MSAR and not really sure what to expect/how to prep for the interview coming up.

Thank you!
