2020-2021 Geisinger Commonwealth

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I’m so sorry to hear....if you don’t mind answering, did anything on your portal change? I moved during the application process, so geisinger may have my old address if they didn’t update my amcas info. So I’m just trying to see if I can find out other way; I also interviewed on the 27th
I double-checked my spam and all folders on Gmail as well as the portal. No updates on either end. Maybe I'll receive an email sometime next week. You can shoot me a dm next week reminding me and I'll let you know if they updated the portal/emailed me yet. Otherwise, I would email admissions about your change in address. Best of luck to you

I just got a rejection email saying they can’t extend an interview invitation to me, but I already interviewed?? Did they just send a generic rejection email to everyone regardless if they interviewed or not??

This sounds obviously wrong and they probably added you to a list by mistake. I'd reach out.

I haven’t heard anything from this school since July, so do they have any interviews left?

There is an official accepted student group now on fb!

Does Geisinger offer any merit-based scholarships? Or are there separate applications for them?

Does anyone remember the official name of the diversity certificate thing Dr. Sapp discussed in the interview? I am really interested in taking those courses but can't find any more info on them on their website. Any help would be super appreciated!

Does anyone know if Geisinger sends rejections by mail only or do they email you? I interviewed 1/27 and heard nothing back so I'm scared they just sent a rejection letter in the mail instead lol

I’m curious, are they sending this last batch of A/WL/R all through snail mail or do they call the A’s? So if you don’t get a call, but see the letter, you basically know the answer?

I believe last year that rejections were only mailed. Acceptances, deferments, and waitlists were all emailed. It could be different this year, but I know for sure A's are emailed and then a USPS letter shows up a few days later, post-marked for the day the email was sent.

thanks, then I’m hoping for no mail!

Ah got it that definitely makes it scarier haha

when did you interview?

Anybody know if geisinger is receptive (or even allow?) letters of intent? I interviewed 1/6 and was deferred a few weeks ago. It's my #1 choice rn so was wondering if a LOI is the move

If I remember correctly, the person who led info session kinda thing during the interview day mentioned that LOI is accepted and possibly can help (he worded it carefully but dont remember the exact words). Idk how geisinger functions overall, but they do accept it and receive it neutrally/positively-ish

They mentioned they accept letters of interest and update letters. I'd assume the same goes for letters of intent

On the portal it says you can only submit 2 letters to add to your application. It also lists the email you can send them to. I just sent an update letter in and got a confirmation email that said it was added to my file and that I can send one more. Hope this is helpful!

Is this coming week some sort of last week for deferred applicants?
In a way it might be. I think there might be one decision day left before those not accepted from deferred will go to alternate list/waitlist.

I haven't heard anything back from 1/27 either so I am hoping they just haven't gotten to us yet...

Interviewed in November and deferred in January. Unsure if it would make a significant difference to send an update/LOI...

Is sending a letter of interest counted an update? I know Geisinger only allows 2 updates max.
