For the people who were placed on-hold, did you go straight to that status after being labelled ”complete” Or we're you under review first?

Tbh I never saw the under review status so I’m not sure

Went straight from "complete" to "on-hold"

I submitted my secondary on the 17th and it still hasn't gone under review or on hold - should I be worried?

Anyone rejected yet? Wonder if right now they're only either sending II or putting you on hold

Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. Files are re-reviewed by the committee periodically and there is no set schedule for decisions. We do interview from August through March. Please feel free to update your file during this time using the GW Admissions Portal. If we require any further documentation or if your status changes, we will contact you immediately. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in our program. Thank you for your patience.

Does anyone else have this status?
Yep, that's what I have too. I think a lot of people are on hold at this point. Someone above just said that it means that someone else will be looking at your app and that we shouldn't think too much about it 🙂

So I received an interview invite from GW for Aug 20, and they sent me two Webex meeting invitation emails a couple days ago.
One email saying my interview is 12:00 to 1:00 pm, with the email subject being 'GW SMHS Faculty MD Interview'
and a second email saying my interview is 12:35 to 1:35 pm, with the email subject being 'GW SMHS Student MD Interview'

I know GW has 2 blind interviews, one with a faculty member and one with a student, but the times that they put in the emails are confusing me. Do I log on to Webex at 12:00 for my first 'faculty' interview, then at 12:35 for the 'student' interview?

If anyone could provide some insight, I would greatly appreciate it, and good luck to everyone else applying here!

I'm scheduled for aug 21 and i still haven't received a webex invitation.. should i email?

Scheduled for around that time, too, also no email. If you do ask them, can you let the rest of us know what they say?
OK. I am going to give it a couple of days. If I don't receive anything by the end of this week I will probably end up emailing.

i know GW's interviews are each ~25 minutes long so it sounds like the faculty interview is first, followed by the student interview. also haven't received my webex invites but my interview is on the 28th so i probably won't get them until next week!

update:
i received the webex invite for the faculty interview, i am still waiting for the one with a student. Scheduled for aug 21

On their website they say that they are only accepting MCAT scores from April 2018 to April 2020? Im a little confused- does this mean that they are not accepting scores from the shortened MCAT??

link for reference: MD Program COVID-19 | The School of Medicine & Health Sciences
I read that as April 2018 through 2020 as in the rest of 2020. They didn't put an ending month since I think there might be a chance that AAMC adds more dates after September.

Oh wow I see now. Could've sworn it said April 2020 and I had a mini panic attack that my score wouldn't be considered haha

On hold. OOS LM 69. Complete 7/16. I was on hold my last cycle two years ago too and never got off it

Does anyone know if it matters if I hold on to secondary for 3+ weeks if my primary hasn't been verified yet? Maybe seems like a silly question but I have DO apps due more urgently so wondering if it's OK to prioritize those for now if they won't even look at a secondary if I turned it in rn...

does anyone know how many people get off the hold status? is this kinda like a waitlist to interview or more like hey we don't wanna give out R's yet but its a soft R

Hold status is not a soft rejection. It’s “we have read your app and pretty soon we’ll have a committee meeting and choose some people to interview”.

I’m not sure about numbers, but I believe it just means they have looked at your app and are waiting to interview you until the more attractive applicants are interviewed. It’s not a soft R by any means. I was on hold here last cycle and ended up interviewing in December and then WL

ah gotcha, that's reassuring thanks for the replies! fingers crossed haha

I'm on "hold". Non trad with a 518 MCAT, 4.0 graduate GPA, multiple publications, and lots of clinical experience. I was never under review, went straight to hold after submitting over the weekend. Wouldn't worry about it if you are here. Lots of schools do similar things. Applications are stressful enough without trying to decode these status updates. It's a long application cycle. Try to relax, everyone's been working overtime to get MCAT done and secondaries in. If you made it to this point give yourself some love and take a breath.
