Yes, and OOS applicants: don't panic if it takes a while to get an interview! Iowa sets aside a specific number of IS interview seats and fills them pretty quickly, then fills the remaining seats with OOS applicants. Many of those IS applicants get auto-invited as yellowranger said, so fewer early interview slots for OOS.

Thank you for this <3 I'm OOS but really hoping for a II!!! This made me feel a lil better

Hello! I'm interviewing next month, any current med students browsing here who would care to chat sometime? 🙂

Anyone with an upcoming CCOM interview or who has already attended one - did you get an email with specific info about the Zoom link?

I accepted the II by email and can see my scheduled time/date on the secondary portal, but there is no specific info about how to join the Zoom session.

I am interviewing this week and they sent me the link in an email with more information about the schedule a few days beforehand.

Oh that's good to hear. Appreciate the reply and best of luck with the interview

Anyone knows when this school will send out more secondaries? I was verified 10 days ago and haven't received a secondary. I know they send out secondaries to everyone who meets their minimum MCAT and GPA so I am just curious. I know there are some of you that have been verified back in August and still havent gotten yours so I am just curious what's taking too long. I hope they still have interview spots left by the time we complete our secondaries.

If it helps, I'm OOS verified on 8/11, and they sent it to me on 9/3! I think they're just slow/stagger sending them out to control their workload

Completely understand. They must be overwhelmed by COVID and the increase in primary applications. Cant help but thinking my chance of getting into this school keeps drwindling by the day.

Good luck everyone. Just hope we get our secondaries before end of September.

Hey I just got an ii. For the diversity day, rural interest, and first gen days, do we have to call to sign up? I don't see any of those dates available?
I called the office at the number they provided on the interview tab and possibly also in the II email. They are extremely helpful. Ultimately decided not to do the rural interest day after I spoke and then emailed with the staff member, but if you want to, you have to contact them via phone or email.

Similar to everyone else, it took almost a month to get my secondary. Verified Aug. 5th, secondary Sep. 1, complete sep 9, but I just got a II (MSTP) today!! There is hope!!
Hello! Do you mind sharing your stats? I am also applying MSTP.

How long does it take for the LOR to be reviewed? Mine have been pending for 5 days and just wondering if this is normal.

I don’t know if they’ll even still be in the office this afternoon but I’m thinking of calling to reschedule my interview that’s on the 2nd. I have to have a colonoscopy on the 1st (literally just saw the doc and scheduled today) and tried to move it to earlier in the week but their scheduler at the surgery center is gone for the weekend so I wouldn’t be able to get my COVID test orders in time. Will Iowa be okay with me rescheduling? I don’t want to annoy them. And are there even open dates within the next couple weeks?

You got a medical reason. No need to go into the details, but let them know you have a medical appointment and kindly ask them if you can reschedule your interview. They are reasonable people. I'm sure they will let you reschedule. Good luck with your scope and all the best during interview season.

As of yesterday, there were open interview slots on every MWF in October starting from October 19th. I don't think rescheduling is an issue since they say in the portal that you can email to reschedule.
I’ve had this scheduled for weeks and don’t want to end up having to schedule too far out. Would it look bad if I called to inquire about if they had cancellations next week or the week after that I could get into but keep the original day if not. I don’t want to look bad.

I guarantee you won’t look bad for a medial appointment. They were very nice during my interview and seemed incredibly reasonable

Yeah, I'm a current M3 and personally know the entire staff. Call them. They will likely work it out for you.

Has anyone already interviewed here? If so, how did it go with technology and the CBL part? Anything you wish you would have done differently?

I had a friend say that sometimes people talked over one another when starting to speak but it was manageable!!

Does anyone know if the interview is closed-book? The online FAQ states that the interviewer will not have access to your MCAT or academic record, but I'm not sure whether or not they will have seen the rest of the application.

I interviewed not too long ago. The interview is indeed close file. 2 faculty members interview you in 1, 25 minute session. There are 3 standard questions followed by some more generic questions.

They only know your name, major, and undergraduate institution.

so is this the standard for when it says that interviewers dont have access to your mcat or academic record? this basically means all application materials?

It depends with every school. Some do not let interviewers see your MCAT and academic record/GPA, but will have access to your application during the interview. Iowa is truly closed file and can only see your name, college, and major.
