2020-2021 SUNY - Upstate

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
On the incoming student checklist it mentions submitting a photo for our ID badge on our myUpstate account, yet I can’t find where to do that on the site. Is it just too early?

It was a while ago for me, but I think the checklist gets updated as the matriculation date gets closer.

Hey does anybody know where we can see who our interviewers are? Is it meant to be blind or is there something I am missing on the interview checklist? Thanks!

I do not believe you can see who the interviewers are ahead of time. It is not intended to be "blind" per se, but rather it just depends on faculty/student availability for that day.

for those with an II, did you attend the meet and greet before your interview? is it mandatory?

The Meet and Greet is not mandatory. It is an opportunity to learn more about the program and meet others who you would otherwise not have the chance to do so on your interview day.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on sdn; IS, complete 11/16. Got an II 3 days later on 11/19, only slots open were January and onwards.

I'm planning on going to the virtual meet and greet and I'm really nervous about it. People who attended can you give you a general breakdown of what happens and what I should expect?

Dont be nervous for meet and greets - the school is trying to sell itself to YOU during them. Pay attention and that's pretty much all you need to do. You are NOT interviewing during them and nobody is taking notes (unless you do something egregiously unprofessional)!

If you add yourself to the waitlist for interviews, what number/area code do they call from, since there's a lot of spam calls these days? Thanks.

Do you have to turn your camera on for the meet and greet?
In my meet and greet all of us had our cameras on and most of us were in business professional! But don't worry about it too much, it was very casual and super insightful.

Hey, what is this? Waitlist for interview? Do you mean getting put on waitlist after the interview?
The user was asking for "what number/area code do [Admissions] call from, since there's a lot of spam calls these days".

I got accepted on 10/15, paid the $100 deposit, but haven't heard anything else. Is there something else I should be doing?

I got an email a week or two after I paid the deposit and submitted the acceptance form, but that’s it

Ok same. Can you see your response to the acceptance form on your student portal, because I can't. Legit the only thing I can see is the download to the acceptance letter.

I got the acceptance letter for the MD/MPH on the portal 2 weeks ago but never got the acceptance email. I emailed admissions a few days ago about this and no response... Has this happened to anyone else? Just want to make sure it's not some kind of mistake ***nervous laughter***

Did you check your junk? Someone said before that it went to their junk folder I believe

Did people send thank you notes as an email to admissions? ty in advance 🙂

is it bad if we haven't heard back from the 12/3 mdphd interview yet (cos they said after two weeks we would hear back)??
I didn't hear back until 4 weeks exactly following my interview so I wouldn't be too concerned🙂 Maybe expect to hear back on the 30th or so.

Someone should bite the bullet and call the MD/PhD office lol. I don’t think any of us have heard anything from the 12/3 interview

Any II movement? Still on hold...give me some love upstate

is it possible for accepted students have heard back already or do they let out the information all at the same time?

Ohh I didn't realize there was a 12/9 interview as well !!
Yes. It was a fairly small group in my cohort (~10) but I believe there was a morning session too with probably the same number. In our post interview meeting they said they would meet as a committee within ~2 weeks. Someone asked if Christmas would affect this timeline and she said no... but I’m not sure if she 100% knew herself.

12/3 interviewers... Lets hope we get a decision today guys...
Question though I saw you are international -- I thought there were only really little # of MD/PhD schools that accepted int in the US. Just curious about the 38 schools you've applied to/accepted to!!

Was the email for already interviewed applicants? Didnt receive it 😳
Yes! To clarify they did say delayed review for getting a decision out post-interview but it sounds like they might be swamped due to COVID-resurgence so I'm not sure how it might affect other parts of admissions.

May I ask what is your status on the portal? Do you have the "under committee review" statement under processed applications?
