2020-2021 Tulane

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes...I saw a lot of people with 10+ IIs lol People are less likely to drop an II this cycle.
I don't think there will be many interview slots open at Tulane. (Complete 8/20 ish and still not under review hehehehehe)
Complete around the same time as you and still not under review. Let's all ask for our money back lol

Does Tulane accept additional letters of recommendation if we were placed on hold? I know we can send updates.

just got put on hold for interview. complete 9/24, under review 11/3

Pre-II hold today. Complete 8/19, under review 11/12. Anecdotally, is hold essentially a dead end for this school? It says "no news is good news" in the email, but I'm becoming way too cynical for my own good at this point. LM 71 or 74 depending on how much you care about my post-bacc grades vs my cGPA. WARS 80.

Ive been complete since 9/9 and still not under review so don’t know if it’s chronological :/

The process is non-chronological, as it depends on numerous factors that applicants are not privileged to know (i.e. post-bac programs, legacy programs, high stats, URM, which faculty was assigned to review your app etc). Trying to predict when you will be reviewed will not be healthy for your health.

Traditionally, it isn't, as the costs of flying and booking hotels to attend interviews are prohibitive to many students (assuming you are not of the wealthy/upper class). However, due to the pandemic, many students are holding onto their virtual interviews which may translate to being a dead end this year. The low-to-no monetary costs of attending interviews might explain why some SDNers have 10+ interviews. I'm not saying that they don't deserve it (as they might be very strong candidates), but the lower costs of attending interviews is a contributing factor.

Thanks. So maybe a little hope, but still hold onto a little bit of that cynicism?

Haven't heard anything since being placed under review on 11/4. is there any hope lol

does anybody actually believe that they are still offering interviews? lol

edit: asking because im seeing only holds for interviews, and no II's going out..
I believe they do still have interview spots left but I’m assuming if you haven’t gotten one at this point that there’s a very very very slim chance you do get one

Hey guys, I skimmed through most of this thread and apologize if I missed something, but just wanted to verify about interview day since some schools have changed their processes up a bit due to COVID. Is it like:

1. Introduction
2. Faculty interview
3. Student interview
4. Standardized patient
And it's blind to stats/activities, but they might have read our personal statement & secondary app if they chose to (like it says on their website)?

Also, is the standardized patient part difficult/something to specially prepare for?

Thanks so much!
We sign NDAs for #4 so not much can be shared, but it's not something you can prep for ahead of time.

Yes, just don't be an @$$ to your patient and you should be fine.

For the interviews, I've read to not assume that they have read your file. I'm not saying to tell them your entire life story, but be sure to give appropriate details, so the student and faculty can understand your answer.

Has anyone who’s interviewing on 1/7 received an email with details of the day yet? Or should I email admissions about it?

I interviewed in November, but you should have received an email containing links and details of the interview day a week prior. This happened for my interview back then. Granted, in your case, sending a week prior would have been the holidays, so the schedule might have changed. Therefore, I recommend you email admissions.

What’s happening is people are holding their interview spots because they can (no travel cost, can be done at home, no time away from their commitments ect.). Because it that, it’s hard to say if there will be possible interview movement if it all. Lookin slim, but we all in this together.

I’m hoping as people start getting accepted to other schools, maybe more interviews will open up. Fingers crossed.

does anyone know if holds actually mean anything?
so far i havnt seen any SDN users report getting an II from the hold list. I have only seen one user report that their friend got off the hold list earlier in the cycle, and actually got an A
