2020-2021 Tulane

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You the MVP for keeping us updated! Also now curious about Tulane’s use of holds as it looks like people have gotten off holds in the past when people cancel their interviews but it’s not hugely frequent.
Looking at old posts from other cycles, is doesn't seem like there is much movement from this hold. Kind of like a soft rejection lol. However, every post I saw was from much later in the cycle like December-February. So hopefully, this timeline will work in my favor and others that got the same message. Good luck to everyone still waiting! Godspeed

Interesting! I'm so surprised by what you are saying since:
1. They reviewed your secondary so early upon submission (typically I've seen here is around 1-month of waiting time)
2. I think you are the first one (non-ED) to hear back from Tulane. For reference, I'm international (Canadian) who submitted on 7/24, been under review since 8/24 and have not heard back yet.

This is common for Tulane. They don't necessarily review in order

to add to the speculation, I did just graduate from Tulane in May from one of their Master's programs so Im not sure if that contributed to them reviewing and deciding so early/fast

How long did it take people to get the under review email/notification after they submitted secondary?

The average has trended towards 3 weeks to a bit over a month, but some have gotten it a few days after submission. We dunno the algorithm, so might as well just wait patiently 🙂

Congrats to everyone with IIs! Your guys hard work paid off and hope you slay those interviews! Now if you excuse me I’m gonna go wander into the fog like the lost premed I am 🙂

Same, one month as well. I'm Canadian; submitted 7/24, reviewed 8/24

Should I be concerned if I submitted 8/5 and still haven't been placed under review (like still have that red exclamation mark)?

Nah, between COVID, Laura, setting their current medical students up with rotations/classes, and like 8000 apps to review they've probably had a lot on their mind this past July. They'll get to you, just be patient 🙂

Or you know, wander into the lost fog with me. Or we could all just change topics and talk about where we can find a good IPA/beer in New Orleans 😉 (but seriously though can you find a good IPA in New Orleans?)

It’s New Orleans, of course you can find good beer. Along with every other alcoholic drink imaginable.

i submitted july 22nd and under review aug 10th. Nothing yet
Submittted 7/19 under review 8/3. and no news either. I wouldn't worry about it honestly, I'm sure it just depends on how quickly the individual reviewer gets through their stack of applicants. Don't think it's strictly chronological. Most schools (from what I've heard from adcoms elsewhere, not an adcom at Tulane, so not sure) give different reviewers different stacks, so that often contributes to the seeming lack of order.

Just got placed on hold for potential interview later on. This is my fourth hold

Anyone under review not get an II, rejection, or hold for II? I’m trying to see if it means we’ll get rejected if we didn’t get hold for II

I'm still under review but I only got the email in late August on the 21st so I wouldn't worry too much about it. It seems that those who are being notified of holds or rejections have been under review for longer.

I just submitted my secondary today, and my letter of recommendation status is still red even though I have all my letters in. Anyone having this problem?

They check it in manually(ensure it’s the right requirements), so it may be red for awhile.

I just got an email (well okay yesterday, 9/10, but your girl is up doing HW late lol) about my application being under review. Hoping for some good news lol

When were you marked complete?

I guess 9/10 lol because it says "We would like to inform you that your application is complete and under review." and I never got any notification that mentioned my app being complete. I also submitted everything July 30th so wow this is kinda late but I guess they're really busy.

Oh gotcha, I wasn’t sure if the “complete” and “under review” emails are the same but it looks like they are

My complete email came a day after I submitted the secondary, but I’m still waiting for the under review one. Maybe they have like 2 sets of emails they send out or something? ._.
