2020-2021 UNC - Chapel Hill

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do y’all think this is the last time the committee will meet before 2021? Will post 11/9 interviews have to wait til next year?

Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but about how long does it take to receive your acceptance email after your interviewer has called?

I was called on the 8th of December, my portal didn't update with the letter until the 10th. I'd have to assume the admissions staff is probably swamped right now trying to get all of this done before the holidays. It'll come soon enough!

Has anyone that interviewed on 11/5 hear back yet? People from 11/2 and 11/9 have posted but haven't seen anyone from 11/5

For those of you who interviewed was the group interview just an interview with a panel of the admission committee?

So I’m not sure what any of us can say because they made us sign a confidentiality agreement, but I will say there’s no reason to worry! It’s super easy and laid back.

How did you feel you did during the group interview, individual interview, and VITA interview?
Well I felt that both my group and individual interviews were very strong. I really enjoyed them and I loved taking part in them. VITA was interesting because I felt 50/50 about it but I thought that I made a solid case for myself.

I'm just gonna confirm that yeah you can't say anything. Nor can I. But it really isn't supposed to be a stressful experience. Just be yourself, that's really all we're trying to see 🙂

Hey all! Just got the call yesterday and my email today!!! OOS (but grew up in Chapel Hill) and interviewed 11/2.

This may be a stupid question, but do any of yall know when the deadline is to complete the acceptance form? Is that meant to be done immediately or do we wait until all our decisions are in and we're ready to commit??

That is awesome! I felt like my individual interview was strong because I really connected with my interviewer. I thought I BOMBED my group interview but all of the positive feedback was about me taking a leadership role and moving the group along so maybe it wasn't as bad as i thought?? Also, i felt 50/50 about the VITA as well. Hoping for the best. Thank you so much for sharing, Doctor 😉

I too think I bombed my group interview. I think I didn’t represent myself the way I wanted but I too am hoping for the best. Good Luck!!!

Hey! You should complete the acceptance form and pay your (refundable) deposit now to save your spot in the class. In April when you have all of your acceptances, you narrow down the list by withdrawing acceptances when you know you don't plan to attend certain schools. But for now go ahead and accept to save your spot! You won't get access to the scholarship form or the deposit form (and some other additional info!) unless you accept. 🙂 Hope this helps!

So is it possible to be accepted and not have a spot secured even if you enroll by the deadline in April? Especially if the number of seats have already been taken early on

When I completed the acceptance form the follow up email said I had two weeks to pay the deposit in order to hold the spot, but the deposit is refundable if you withdraw your acceptance before the April deadline. I believe anyone who is offered admission has access to the same form and is guaranteed a spot after paying the deposit. Hope that answers your question!

Yes it does! Thanks!
