So, what are everyone else's thoughts on the status of people who interviewed before 12/14 and haven't heard back? Because before @hamjoints (congrats btw!), the latest II date I saw get an A was early November. Just seems weird that from all the interview dates in between then and now, nothing got reported on SDN.

Here’s my status update: (11/9 interview).... still says “awaiting decision”.... lol at this point, all I can do is laugh. I feed my neuroticism at 1 am this morning going through last years thread and it seems that the last minute A’s, R’s and WL’s went out the second week of March. So at least we will know something by then.

The latest interview with an acceptance is in December (@hamjoints). January still hasn't caught up it seems. Do you think they are still going in interview order for issuing decisions or do you think they are just throwing all interviewed applicants into the same pot at this point?

In SDN threads years past, there were December, early January, late January, and mid-March A waves. Are we due an A wave this week?

Since it's rolling admissions, it only makes sense they go in order they interviewed just like last year. So bascially people who interviewed in January are next and it continues. I think January interviewers will hear back this or next week based on the order but idk for sure.

So how rolling are they... being in the first month of interviews, am I basically waiting for a rejection 🙁(

Since they still have you in consideration they will probably still be comparing you to the new interviewees. Basically "no news is good news" until you get a rejection. And wow that's a long wait! Props to you!

Not exactly. My theory is that they do rolling admissions and only issue quick decisions to interviewees that are highly acceptable and likely have other medical school options. Then there are the ones, perhaps like us, that are acceptable, but there is no rush to issue a decision. They have the luxury to wait and compare us to new interviewees (which ended earlier this month). At this point, I am inclined to think it's not rolling anymore. They have everyone's app on hand and can compare all interview groups to others.

I’m honored that you think a med school like UNC would consider an applicant like me - acceptable. Sire thou kindness precedes you!

Accepted via e-mail last night!!! No change in my portal yet. I missed a call this morning, but no voicemail so not sure if it was an acceptance call.
Interviewed 11/16.

I highly doubt January will the next As. I have several friends and previous classmates that interviewed at various points in December and they have not heard back yet.

Does anybody know what the next few interview dates were after December 14th? Like I know January 7th was the first January interview date but were there dates btw December 14th and Jan 7th?

I think Dec. 14th was the only date in December...they went on break shortly after that. It seems like they interviewed every 2 weeks but I could be wrong. So those that interviewed in early January could also be hearing back pretty soon.

Some friends and I interviewed on December 7th.

Have any admitted students' transcripts been checked off their portal? sent mine like 2-3 weeks ago...

Acceptance just now!!! No call- just a status change and email! Interviewed 10/5 complete 7/23 OOS 🙂)
Congrats! Happy for you and envious at the same time, my friend. For posterity's sake, this tells me that it's not really rolling admissions anymore. They are comparing all interviewees, regardless of interview date, to each other, and issuing decisions.

Also, name checks out.

How're the fellow September interviewees doing?
LOL bad/not really feeling much at this point. It's sad bc UNC is my absolute dream (which could still potentially come true!). But also am very grateful to be a lil more numb to the eventual outcome because I have another option. My heart goes out to our fellow September/early interviewees who are waiting on UNC to roll through to plan out their next few years. It sucks, there's no other way around it.

I wish I had a clue as to how many acceptances have been extended so far...but then again, if I did know and the number was high, I would be in an even higher panic mode...ugh I don't like that other people have so much say over my life...UNC PLEASE ACCEPT ME!

Accepted yesterday via portal for the MSTP! Interviewed on 1/10-1/12 (Yes we had a sunday interview day).

On the topic, I'm looking at the pre-requisites and it says 3 chemistry courses with 2 labs. Would General Chemistry 1/2 and Labs for both suffice + Biochemistry? Or are they talking about strictly upper level chemistry courses? I ask because I don't have Orgo Lab 1/2.

As everyday goes by, I look at my phone when waking up and see emails notifactions that gets my heart rate up but each of them is a spam email which makes me start the day with sadness. I really think that med schools should have specified days where applicants can know on what day they are going to send acceptances out. That way I can only look forward on those specific days and not care after that.

I feel that. It's rough having to tell friends and family members that don't know much about this process that no, I haven't heard much of anything over the last six months and no, I still have no idea when I can expect to hear anything more. Saying "sometime between now and April" no matter what month it is is getting old.
I feel you on that. A lot of friends and family have never applied to medical school but are the first to judge if i haven't heard a response yet. It's unbelievable for some to judge one on something they never even attempted. Congrats on the interview to UNC cause I know a lot of people that didn't end up getting one. Hopefully we all hear good news soon!

Did anyone just randomly get a UNC SOM student follow up email? I interviewed in December and got this today.

I did! From a student asking if there are any questions about the school and opportunities offered. Along with a few resources links such as student groups.

Theoretically those are sent to everyone. The students like me who help with the Q&A sessions send them out, so they get sent at different times based on when we see them/ actually sit down and send them. Unfortunately it doesn't mean anything sorry :/

Well I’m glad I got it now then. Would have been terrible to get it after an R 😂😂😂
