Got the call on Tuesday from Dr. Chan! MT WICHE (also WWAMI, after a very lengthy process to confirm my residency lol). Interviewed 1/11
It’s always worth applying to your state school. Sure, stats are a bit low, but your story could only go along way if they have a chance to read and consider your app.Friends,
I was hoping for some insight. New to the application processes as I’m a non-trad military/firefighter type. My family and I would like to stay in Salt Lake City and was wondering if it would be worth putting in an application at U of U since I’m a resident here I know my stats are low but I’ve read that U of U considers the whole story pretty well. Working towards finishing up prerequisites now and taking some other classes of interest to help bring the SGPA up.

If you’re already applying to other MD schools, it’s probably worth a shot. $41 for the primary fee and ~$100 for secondary fee.Friends,

Thank you for the response, it will likely be the only MD program I apply for. I know I lie pretty low even for DO admissions but I visited the area yesterday with my wife and kids and was very impressed with the campus. It’s always worth applying to your state school. It will likely be the only MD program I apply for. I’ll focus solely on DO otherwise but I really loved the campus and ideally I’d stay in Salt Lake area so I don’t have to uproot the family again. I’ve had to move them a ton in the last 10 years and looking for stability. May never get in with those stats and applying for a total of 3 schools but hey. 😂If you’re already applying to other MD schools, it’s probably worth a shot. $41 for the primary fee and ~$100 for secondary fee.
Hey, so I was a low gpa applicant who got accepted this year (3.2C gpa). It's possible for sure. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions, but I wish you the best of luck!Friends,

Bring it on.Judgement week?
Bring it on.
Last year's thread showed that most people seemed to hear on Friday (13th) however, some people heard on other days during the week. I'm anticipating something similar this year with the possibility of more decisions being released next Monday. But who knows?! Sending good vibes to everyone waiting for a decision! We anticipate everything being out this weekend? I know the deadline says "by March 15th", but what has happened in the past?
I don’t think the scholarship application is open until they process your FAFSA, and I guess they won’t process it until you’re accepted. That’s what I got from the wording of their emails. Have you checked the portal?Question: did anyone start filling out (and/or submit) the scholarship application available on the portal before you were accepted (or know if it is ok to do so)? On my interview day, they told us the scholarship application closes on March 15th and I don't want to miss out on the opportunity to be considered if I happen to receive an acceptance that day. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂
I remember them saying in my interview that if you get accepted after March 15 then you're not in consideration for those... I hope that's not true but that stuck out to me so I remembered it.Question: did anyone start filling out (and/or submit) the scholarship application available on the portal before you were accepted (or know if it is ok to do so)? Yes, I went on my portal this morning out of curiosity and was able to access the scholarship application? And start filling it out? I haven't checked my portal since my interview, so not sure if this scholarship link has always been available or not?I don’t think the scholarship application is open until they process your FAFSA, and I guess they won’t process it until you’re accepted. Yes, I recall they said the application closes on March 15th. So when I saw the scholarship link was available I figured it couldn't hurt to start working on it, that way if I am accepted before or on March 15th I would be considered? But not sure if I'm technically allowed to "submit" (although I am given the option to), as I have not received an official admissions decision from the university.I remember them saying in my interview that if you get accepted after March 15 then you're not in consideration for those... Oh i didn't know that... Hmm, yeah then I have no idea. The worst that could happen is you don't get considered for scholarships because you were accepted after. But unless someone else has insights then maybe the best option would be to email or call them. Sorry!Yes, I recall they said the application closes on March 15th. I would call and ask and then report back because I just looked and also have the option. It says "MS1" under status but I haven't been accepted yet so I'm assuming we all have it so I'm super curious but am at work and can't call lol.Yes, I recall they said the application closes on March 15th. If I were in your position I’d just submit the scholarship application then. Hope you get some good news soon!Yes, I went on my portal this morning out of curiosity and was able to access the scholarship application? And start filling it out? Yes. I asked this specific question during my interview and Dr. Chan confirmed it.I remember them saying in my interview that if you get accepted after March 15 then you're not in consideration for those... I hope that's not true but that stuck out to me so I remembered it.
Congrats! IS or OOS?Accepted an hour ago! So so humbled and excited and stoked. Sending out good vibes for everyone!

ISIS? OOS?
I didn't see it at first either, but did you click on the financial aid page? And then scroll down on the right side of the U of U medicine page where it says "additional resources" and there's a link to "supplemental action for institutional scholarships and loans." See if you have the option to edit a scholarship application.Just checked my portal but didn't see the scholarship application. Probably an auspicious sign for y'all who had it. As for me, I guess that's an R
I have that, but no call. So, I’ll let you know. But maybe it is not related.I didn't see it at first either, but did you click on the financial aid page? I agree. I didn't get a call yet, and my bet is that everyone has access to this application.I have it too, doubt it's related to your acceptance status
I did this and it just had an apply option. I clicked that and now it says edit and ms1 is that what you’re talking about?I didn't see it at first either, but did you click on the financial aid page? Ya I don’t think that matters really because if you do click edit you can select ms1-ms4 sp seems like anyone could have itYeah thats what it looks like for me
Did you ask Dr. Chan or did he say that he had lots of calls left to make while you were talking to him? Asking for a friend...I interviewed back in November. As an OOSer with no ties, I was truly bracing for an R. I kid you not, I had a dream last night that Dr. Chan called me. Then today, I actually heard his beautiful voice... Best of luck to everyone still waiting! There are a lot of calls to still be made.
Hopefully, but probably not. It seems like the admissions committee has already made their final rankings and I can't really think of any reason as to why Dr. Chan would separate the calls over multiple days : (Now the question, will there be calls tomorrow?
They did last year, they did calls on Wednesday and then again on Friday when they sent out the mass RsHopefully, but probably not.
