Has anyone that was complete in August gotten an II at either case or cclcm yet? If so, can you share your stats, university ties/in state, and URM/ORM?

Wonderful. The admissions staff were incredibly, and I mean INCREDIBLY, welcoming and fun. The presentation was more of a conversation and the interviews themselves were nice and conversational, too. Perfect day if you ask me 🙂

Seconded on it being a fantastic experience! The admissions staff as serotonin already said is so kind and funny, and my interviewers were both incredibly nice. My faculty interviewer bout made me tear up fr he was being so nice to me.
 
R today as well. URM 515 3.9x with significant research /pubs, but completely no ties to ohio or Cleveland. they even sent me that urm email saying your mcat is competitive 🙁

Keep in mind that most schools do not review in chronological order. All of my applications were complete by 7/13 and I have not heard from 2/3 of my schools. Plenty of schools will not communicate whatsoever until you receive an official rejection next summer.

It IS hard, and it sucks, but you really have no choice but to run your own race and not compare yourself to your friends. As long as you have not received a R from any school that has begun sending them, like Case, you are still in the game and probably have not yet been reviewed.

By December-January, that will no longer be true and it will no longer be early, even though IIs will still be going out at some schools. But, at the end of September, when most schools have only been reviewing apps for 2 months, or even less, and there are literally thousands upon thousands upon thousands of applications to go through, it is inevitable that some people will have been reviewed (like your friends) and others will have not (like you).

Don't get me wrong -- your worst fears may still come to pass. But the beginning of October is too soon to worry, as annoying as it might feel. Just try to relax for another month or two. There is plenty of time to start worrying then, if necessary, although, and I know it sounds trite, worrying isn't going to fix whatever it is that needs fixing.

Bottom line -- no, you shouldn't worry, because it's unproductive. You should be constantly working to build a stronger application, in case you need to reapply.

Only if you knew that they review in strict chronological order. Most schools don't. People loooove asking the question. It's meaningless.

If some folks have received IIs and others have received Rs, and you haven't heard, all it means is that your application has been reviewed and put aside for later, or you haven't yet been reviewed. Both are better than being rejected, but not as good as receiving an II. Whether or not it's a good sign is entirely up to you. 🙂

For myself, any day I don't receive a R is a good day, and any day I don't receive an II sucks. Most of my days are both good and suck. 😎
 
I interviewed last month and Case is 100% my first choice, so I'm getting increasingly nervous a next Friday approaches! I know by now my admissions decision has probably been made, but is it worthwhile to send an update/letter of interest before October 15? Or is it standard practice to send these types of updates in if you get put on the waitlist? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, but I've decided so far to save an update for the waitlist, since I don’t really have anything new to talk about, and I feel like the decision for October 15th has been made already? I'm curious as to what others are planning to do though.
 
One thing to keep in mind is that your LOI/update might not be looked up prior to Oct 15th if a decision has been made already or if the admissions committee isn't meeting before then! I thought about it, but ultimately planned to wait to update if I am placed on the waitlist.
 
I'm going to go against what might be the conventional SDN wisdom and say that if a school is genuinely one of your top choices after interviewing, you should send a letter of interest/intent to the admissions committee pretty soon after your interview so that its seen in the next review of your application. You can always reiterate your interest/intent if you are waitlisted in a future letter.

All schools are interested in maximizing their yield rate. It follows that a school is more likely to accept you if they know you are likely to attend if accepted. A letter of interest with specific and clear reasons about why you believe Case is the ideal institution for you is valued the adcom IMO - no updates are really needed.

Anecdotally, I sent a Letter of Interest to Case the week I interviewed, explaining all the reasons why I thought Case was an ideal fit for me. I obviously didn't include any updates since it had been only a couple of days since my interview. I got in pretty quickly after that (less than a month later).

It goes without saying, but please be sincere in writing letters of interest and letters of intent. I would limit letters of interest to your top 3 schools or so, and letters of intent if you are ready to commit to the school if accepted. Besides the questionable ethics of exaggerating your interest, it would really ruin the value of letters of interest if every applicant started sending them to every school.

I really appreciate the response! I think since some time has passed since my interview it makes sense to wait for next week's decision (and hopefully I won't need to write anything else!) Are you an M1 at Case now?
 
Anyone who has interviewed for the university program - approximately how many questions were asked in each interview and how long was the duration of your interview? Also are there any opportunities for a poop break in between?!

That’s correct. Got the R from CCLCM yesterday but II from the University Program today.

  • Approximately 10 questions for faculty interview, approx. 5-6 for med student interview
  • 45-60 for faculty, Approx. 30 mins for med students
  • Several purposeful breaks interpersed throughout the day. 😉

Sorry, I can't. I got burned one year when I told people a date and time and then....... AMCAS went down. I got absolutely crushed on SDN and our phones blew up like it was my fault AMCAS crashed. Learned my lesson... 😏

Took a look at last year's thread. Seemed like some students got invited to a Zoom call the night before 10/15, and were told they were all on the waitlist. Not sure if that's what we'll hear tomorrow, but here's the link.

I just saw the same thing. Not great news and not horrible news. So is life...

Edit: Actually looks like the original commenter said she was emailed about the Zoom but did not attend and received an A. Whereas the other person was in a Zoom were people got waitlisted.
 
Guess only way to find out is if everybody who interviewed here has received email or not

Update: took a look deeper into the thread and it seems like BOTH A'd and WL'd people got invited to Zoom calls. Lots of speculation about timing of when applicants got the email, but no definitive answer there so we shall all see tomorrow! Best of luck y'all 🙂
