2021-2022 Tulane

Now, I wouldn't dare fuel conspiracy theories

... however, what're the odds that Tulane SOM will give ~special~ note to those who reached out for their secondary? Since I'm sure the unspoken "answer their prompts and resubmit ASAP" rule was leaked prior to this year, it'd be a logical next step to see who's willing to go above and beyond to apply to their program.

... but seriously, it's just a theory. Going out on a limb, if you will.

AMCAS Verified 7/2 and emailed admissions the afternoon of 8/2.

Received and submitted the secondary morning of 8/3!

I just received the secondary.

OOS, verified 7/15, received secondary today.

For extra information, I also sent them an email about 30 minutes prior, so you do what you want with that info. I think it's likely they were about to send it to me anyway.

Well, looks like I am emailing admissions after transmitting to schools essentially day 1. Thought being patient would pay off, guess not.

Got a response stating that they release secondaries generally 1 week after receiving the application from AMCAS. According to their records, they received my primary last week, which confirms the issues they've been having. So for everyone who still hasn't received one, don't worry. They said I should receive mine later this week. Best of luck to everyone.

Received and submitted the secondary today - verified since day 1. International

Where do you guys see the red exclam mark like they said in the complete email? I know they had it last year, but I can't find it anywhere in this year's new portal.

Previous poster said that this might have been something they did last year but not this year + forgot to take that line out of email. I also do not see a red exclamation in my portal.

Also a reapplicant and can confirm this was a feature of last year's application portal that is not on this year's

Yes, ED gets first priority in terms of being sent secondaries and interviews.

For regular decision applicants, everyone gets sent a secondary since TUSOM doesn't screen. However, it is unknown the order that they send secondaries (i.e. linkage programs, SMP, affiliations, etc). I have classmates who received secondaries immediately to 3/4 weeks after submitting their primary. So, rather than freaking out about this, I believe your time and attention will be better spent writing secondaries. I don't know what the prompts are for this year, but perhaps check last year's prompts as an estimate and pre-write. Therefore, once you get your secondary from TUSOM, you can send it back shortly without sacrificing quality.

My reference: I went through this process last year 🙂. However, I'm not an expert, so feel free to use my opinion as you see fit. Good luck!
If I still haven't gotten a secondary (submitted my primary in June), should I email/ reach out and ask about this? Or does that mean they're just not giving me a secondary?

If I still haven't received a secondary (submitted my primary in June), should I reach out to admissions to inquire about this, or does this mean they're not sending me a secondary?

Nope! It does not mean that. Read the comment a few posts above yours - someone shared what admissions told them about the delay.

Secondary received today

Oh ya finally received Tulane secondary yesterday morning. OOS and planning on submitting today.

kinda blanking on what to write for the why tulane question, anyone got any suggestions? the website make it seem like a cookie cutter school
I would suggest that you use the Help me decide between x vs. y medical school subthread and look for Tulane specifically. People there already have done tons of research about the school and I found a couple of things that made me interested in Tulane that would have taken me a while to find on my own. Good luck!

Got the under review email earlier but I only submitted last week sometime so that was quick 😟 idk if that’s a good thing or not

Why would it be bad?
I’m thinking how are they doing this so fast so it may be that they just send our under review as more of a general statement or they’re plowing through these thousands of apps very quickly?
Not sure though, it’s all just part of the process and I’m speculating!

received under review email today. Submitted 2-3 weeks ago

what day did you submit your complete app?
Maybe last Tuesday ish I submited my app and I’m already under review. I just thought people from earlier submissions would go under review first so that makes me think maybe under review -> rejection quickly idk

Completed 2 weeks ago and not under review yet.. wonder what causes some to go under review first or if it is totally random

Aside from that ED applications are reviewed first, I don't know the order that non-ED applications are reviewed. It is a black box/ random process. Upon submitting my secondary application, I received my interview invite a month later.

If you haven't received a secondary yet after the timeline posted by Tulane, then perhaps send a kind/gentle email to TUSOM admissions to follow up. They do a great job at processing applications, but at the same time, receive a lot of applications. For reference, last year, we received 17.5k.

I've only heard that II for ED has been sent. Regular decisions won't be coming at least for a little while.

Has anyone who got the under review email heard back yet?

Under review can almost take weeks or for some even months in previous cycles. My first cycle I went complete to under review in 6-7 days, my second it took almost a month and a half. I applied later my first cycle than my second.
This is your third cycle?
