Just curious if you sent any update/interest letters since interviewing?I interviewed early November and got accepted last week! I think it must be pretty random, so don't lose hope yet!
I got my assigned interviewers/time the Thursday the week before. Your interviews will be sometime in the morning/afternoon, then wrap up is 4-5pm CTFor those of you that have interviewed, what time did interview day start and end? I have mine next week but haven't received the itinerary yet. I have to buy bus tickets back home and wanted to plan ahead of time.
*sweats nervously*also for anyone curious, I interviewed this week and we were told about half of all acceptances for the cycle have been given out so far
I'm not entirely sure, she was looking at her calendar and told us we would hear back either mid march or late march, so it potentially could be two separate larger release days or it's just the day for my interview date. She did say we can fell free to call and ask about our status or updated dates; I absolutely would not have the courage to do that though lol*sweats nervously*
Edit: did they give any detail about whether a large number of As will drop on a particular day? Or will they continue to come out in these tiny waves until we get R or WL at the end of March
Thank you for sharing! I do know per AAMC traffic rules that they have to issue enough As to fill each seat in the class by March 15th, so maybe there'll be a bigger release just before then. Also calling is SCARY lol I won't be doing that.I'm not entirely sure, she was looking at her calendar and told us we would hear back either mid march or late march, so it potentially could be two separate larger release days or it's just the day for my interview date. I think it varies completely. They don't send out Rs and WLs until the end of the cycle, so the process is semi-rolling. Some people got As a couple weeks after their interviews, others are still waiting from the beginning of the cycle. How soon do they usually get back to you post interview? Someone this has been my best interview thus far despite having COVID and I think this is very easily my favorite MD only
They had a pretty big pre-II R wave (I thought it was the end of the interview cycle) last week so if you survived, there's still a chance! Go bearsapply WU at end of Aug, no response yet. MCAT 52X, GPA 3.9X
I didn't get any confirmation. Good luck on your interview! Are we supposed to get a confirmation when we submit our interview photo or nah? Just curious if mine actually uploaded lol
Congrats! She really hopped right off facilitating that WashU Wednesday and pulled out the scholly list. That is awesomeGot a scholarship call from Dean Ratts a few hours ago! Interviewed early Jan and was accepted a week ago. Sent no post-II updates, but did send one pre-II. I can’t even believe this is real😭
I sent an LOI late December, which was my only update since interviewing!Just curious if you sent any update/interest letters since interviewing?
Dr. Ratts strongly strongly implied they like LOIsI sent an LOI late December, which was my only update since interviewing!
LOI as in interest or intent?I sent an LOI late December, which was my only update since interviewing!
^^ I am too scared to send a letter of intent because WashU is EXPENSIVE... and aren't scholarships sort of kind of common for accepted students? I don't want to give up any chance of a scholarship if I have any (first have to get the A lol) even though I would love to come hereLOI as in interest or intent?
I agree, I'm slowly coming around on it but I am waiting until I am 100% sure I would come here over anywhere else. My main issue is there's a few schools that have a very low chance that they COULD be completely free for me and that's whats largely preventing me from committing.^^ I am too scared to send a letter of intent because WashU is EXPENSIVE... and aren't scholarships sort of kind of common for accepted students? I interviewed in early Jan!When'd you interview? I haven't heard back either.
I did not, but I love this.Did anyone else get a handwritten letter from one of your interviewers?
So sweet! Honestly WashU blew me away during the whole interview process. Everyone i met (including faculty) was so nice and genuine and really passionate about their school/institutionDid anyone else get a handwritten letter from one of your interviewers?
I was so impressed!! Pretty sure they were responding to my thank you letter, but I didn’t expect a response at all. But it was so incredibly nice and she offered to be an advisor even if I didn’t choose WUSM and that type of support is absolutely what I’m looking for.So sweet! Not sure what the chances are numbers wise, but based on previous year’s threads, there are people who interview in February that get accepted 🙂What are the chances that someone who interviewed in February be accepted to WashU?
Congratulations!! Did you attend why WashU and meet our students before or after interview?I was so impressed!! How do I join the accepted students Facebook page? I tried looking for it on Facebook and didnt see it. Also checked the portal and all the emails they have sent me since I was accepted and couldn't find anything.Out of curiosity, can anyone in the accepted students Facebook group report how many people there are in it so far?
I haven’t been accepted, I was curious to hear from those who have been. Based on previous year’s threads it’s seems they send out an email every so often to the recent admits. Maybe this year they have not made one yet? 🤷🏻♀️How do I join the accepted students Facebook page? I tried looking for it on Facebook and didnt see it. This^^^. Need based is one thing, but merit is to recruit you away from peers. It's really not to reward you for performance, in spite of the name! 😎Well, from the side of the medical school: scholarship = enticement
Why entice you if you said you’re going already?
Before April 1 is all they guarantee. But I know people who interviewed in the first week they started interviews and have yet to hear back. I also know people who heard back as early as 3-4 weeks later.I interviewed on 2/7, any idea when I can expect a decision? Nerve wracking wait.
Well its a good thing you aren't an adcom member of *checks notes* any medical school so you do not know how the decisions for merit-based aid are madeThis^^^. If you say you're going to come anyway, and then you don't if they don't give you money, then you're a liar and they probably won't be too sad to see you go. If money is an issue, don't send a letter of intent. If it isn't, don't worry about the money and, if it comes, great.
Personally, if I were sending a letter of intent pre-decision, I wouldn't be expecting any money. If you want to be wooed, you need to play a little hard to get, and a letter of intent is very inconsistent with that. JMHO.
I had 2 friends that did last cycle. Granted one of them got a full ride somewhere else and expressed that tactfully in his LOI (he was a zebra and really could negotiate $ before the A because the A was inevitable). The other was WL, then sent an LOI and also expressed tactfully intent conditional on financial aid (which a ton of people have strong feelings about this type of LOI, but it worked for her).Has anybody sent an LOI (intent) and then been accepted and received a merit scholarship? Wondering if sending an LOI would hurt my chances of a scholarship if I were to get in.
I sent a LOI knowing full well that it might hurt my chances at getting financial aid. Thing is, I would gladly pay full price if it meant I get to go to WashU. It’s that good of a school.I had 2 friends that did last cycle. I don’t think it’s as simple as others like to boil it down to (and we’ve talked about this earlier in this thread too). There’s lots of factors here to consider and most responses you’ll get will be an oversimplification saying intent = no need to give you $ to get you to come here. However, if you know you will not attend this school without a scholarship, don’t send a letter of intent. I personally sent a very strong letter of interest pre-II that basically expressed the reasons why I may have intent to go there, but kept it more open ended than an actual intent letter and I now have a merit scholarship.
I wouldn’t trust what you hear from everyone on sdn though because no one knows who is credible on here or who is spreading misinformation/disinformation. Your question is one that tons of students are asking and the answer totally varies by school and by your app.
That's right. I'm not. I'm just applying a little common sense. Merit money isn't because schools have too much money and they don't know what to do with it. It's to induce desirable candidates to choose them over the competition.Well its a good thing you aren't an adcom member of *checks notes* any medical school so you do not know how the decisions for merit-based aid are made
I agree with this. I got a full tuition merit scholarship after sending an update/LOCI. I don't think they're always related etcI had 2 friends that did last cycle. I think the general consensus is that your attendance does not affect your decision. But I couldn't imagine going to these from the beginning of the cycle.I am personally annoyed with the WashU Wednesdays. I feel guilty for not attending them, but when I do, it feels like most of them are just so repetitive from prior weeks.
yes, exactly. I had an early interview and stopped attending them after the first couple of weeks.I think the general consensus is that your attendance does not affect your decision. But I couldn't imagine going to these from the beginning of the cycle.
I guess a January interview is a blessing in disguise hahayes, exactly. I had an early interview and stopped attending them after the first couple of weeks.
