It's looking like instead of only having an accepted students group chat, we'll need one for broke roomies too 🤣

Also, how worth it is Pass/Fail ranking for medical school? So far, that is a major factor keeping my interest for the school if the tuition is $69k, but does it outweigh going to one that does ranking if you want to leave competitive specialties on the table?
Nah nah I can afford.. I’m just not big on driving all day to school 🤣

i interviewed at ucsd and the student panelists said p/f has really been great for them. they aren't as stressed worrying about every little point, can focus on themselves/extracurriculars, etc etc. it really made me want to commit to a school with p/f curriculum bc med school is hard as is

also, are u implying competitive specialisties favor students from schools with ranked grading?

For competitive specialties, I would think that a true p/f might not be the greatest for a brand new school, in the way that step 1 going p/f means you’re relying solely on step 2 scores and giving them less statistics to rely on. But CDU also has a good reputation of churning out competitive applicants from their previous UCLA partnership so who knows at this point.

Not at all! @Lux23 pretty much addressed my concern only because I don't know of a medical school that has opened and started as Pass/Fail even for clerkships. I do feel that it at least will allow students to stand out based on the activities they do outside of class for residency applications, which also supports the academic environment the school wants for its students.

With this unknown territory and more, the inaugural class will be in for a ride just like the dean herself said. 😆

How did you find out about the info session? I didn’t get an email or anything

I went to it too. It was not emailed about but I saw a flyer around instagram and other social media's so I signed up. The class size is going to stay at 60 for the next 4-5 years. Calc is required for sure! They said they expect it to be done by matriculation so meaning if school starts in July, you need it done before then! They have interviewed people who don't have it done but they expect them to take it by matriculation. The LA county scholarship is 4 students who live in LA county meaning they are from LA county to begin with and tuition and everything is free for those people. I am not too sure if CDU adcoms decide or if those people need to apply to the LA Cares Fund directly. They said we would hear back on March 15, 2023 if we already interviewed. They did not say anything about whether we can take out federal loans. They said it was not their department so they could not answer for them.

II ~3 hours ago, complete the first day secondaries went out
Quick question. I submitted it within a week. I have a nagging thought they contacted based on last name, being that mine starts with an A. Would you mind telling me what letter your last name starts with?

I'm in the beginning of the alphabet as well, they haven't sent me an II yet if that helps your thought

Having a bit of difficulty removing other people's signatures on the confidentiality agreement. I made a separate copy but the signatures are still there

Anyone who needs a copy of a blank agreement, email me. If you could kindly attach a screenshot of the form with the markup or some way to confirm you received an invite that would be lovely.
I truly mean no disrespect, I just don't want some loophole to get me into trouble for sharing it. Hope y'all understand.

Hi! I’m a current undergrad student at CDU and just submitted my primary rn bc I forgot lol. Anyway, just some tips for living in LA:
No one would ever choose to live around CDU, sorry but it’s rough
Car is absolutely mandatory, but EV charging is free on campus!
I live in DTLA and have a Fast trak. I get to and from school in about 15-20 minutes. Cannot speak for ppl who actually sit in traffic. The fast trak is a worthwhile investment.
CDU has so many things geared towards student wellness! I’ve never received more scholarships, free groceries, gift cards, etc at any institution (I’m a community college transfer student)
COL is highhhhhh!!! I pay $1700 and that’s half of my rent. Granted, I live in a luxury apartment, but I’d say expect to pay about $1500 for rent alone…and that would be a good deal.

If anyone has any other questions about the school (from the undergrad perspective, obviously) or living in LA, I’d be glad to help!

So with Kira talent interview.. do we record our responses or is it like a regular zoom type interview ?

Good morning, I submitted my secondary application on 11/28/2022 (and received application received email) However I have not received an interview letter phone call or anything of that nature. Do y'all think they rejected me already? Do they got rid of my application because I'm not from California, (I'm from South Florida)? I dont know what to do! I have two years of Calculus, but only one semester of Biochem (I took biochemistry 1 with lab [undergrad], and biochemical ecology [graduate course]).
Thank you for your help y'all
JCR.

The adcoms is basically only two people so they have a ton of apps to go through. I would just be patient and wait til mid March. I think they interview til then.

Thank you, but what scares me is that some people already submitted their applications on December, and they already got interviews, and I still haven't gotten anything; I submitted mine in November. :'(

It will be the same here as all the other schools you have applied to. No need to overworry.

yes, 20 min timer and it starts immediately and once your 20 min is up you get kicked out of the room. so if your interviewer is late (mine was 4 min late lol) then that eats into time you can't get back
So how you not gonna get points knocked off are you? Were you able to answer all the questions ?

i don't believe i will get points marked off, i really hope not because it was their fault not mine lol. for my first interview, it was going really well, very conversational so no, I didn't get to answer all questions. by the end, I was rambling trying to get all my main points in before I got kicked off. for my second interview, it was less conversational, more question, answer, question, answer so even tho she was late, I was still able to answer all questions

That’s good to hear !! Yeah hopefully it’s all put together

yeah...the school had technical difficulties when I did it and I only had 13 and 17 minutes with each interviewer. We rushed through all the questions...i felt like I wasnt really able to perform at my best given that i had to rush through my answers but I'm hoping for the best...

They should just accept you for that alone

also did anyone who interviewed interview with a man who's last name started with a C? I think I remember it but am not sure
